What's that all about? Weird.

They've been ticking along quite nicely.

Will be interesting to see what they have to say about that. They've probably got word that a "big name" manager is interested...

...because Steve McClaren worked so well for them.

Di Matteo? Hughes?

Chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi said: "We cannot speak highly enough of Sean as a man. He was appointed at an extremely difficult time for the Club and can count himself unlucky to have lost his job with the team just one point away from the top six.

"With the January transfer window approaching, we feel it's the right time to make a change.

"We are looking to bring in an ambitious manager with Premier League experience."

Abdulaziz Al Hasawi, who was at The City Ground for today's game against Leeds, added: "The timing of our decision may look a little odd after the win over Leeds but sometimes you need to make changes with the long term future in mind.

"Sometimes those changes need to be made from a position of strength rather than weakness and that is what we are trying to do."

Who knows! Aren't their owners the one's who were saying they'd appoint a "legend" of the game prior to getting Sean O'Driscoll in?

I quite like him as a manager actually. Under-stated, and gets his teams playing some really good football.

Get on Nigel Clough I reckon.

One of those moments where the owner does not see eye to eye with the owner, and the owner is looking at bigger and better things, before they have even got out the championship.

No chance. Nige far too honourable to walk out on Derby to go to "that lot down the road". Won't happen.

Feel free to dig this post up in two days time when he gets unveiled, of course.

I heard some kind of stat earlier and it was 47 or around that amount of managers of clubs are different than they were at start of 2012. I thought it was the start of the season but that would be mad! Well maybe come a few years time.

Crazy, that is around half the manager have changed in 12 months.

They'll go for Roy Keane methinks.

See tha Berg has been sacked from Blackburn as well.

Thing is owners expect far more for their vast sums of money than they get and that's because many of the players who demand vast sums of money just aren't all that good. Yer average UK man's appraisal of a "decent footballer" is way way off more often than not.

...........and Henning Berg's been sacked by Blackburn after 10 games.

It was an absolute surprise they appointed him anyway. He's been mediocre as best as a manager. Mark Hughes incoming IMO
