Moral Compass, us?

Why should we be a moral compass and continue with the current regime if we think we are going to get relegated this season? What makes us superior to others to think we should display this loyalty when the performances have been hit and miss to say the least, what concerns me more is the fact the squad is simply not strong enough to survive so therefore regardless of what Adkins tries to do will fail as his purchases have been poor so its a moot point if he can persuade a man to climb a mountain for him as he simply can not do it as he has no legs to get him up there.

Few other teams have kept their manager when they have gone down and none I know off with a controller like we have so why should we be a supposed team of morals others dont or wont have? We should eb open and honest at all times of course but that does not mean we stupidly follow Adkins or Cortese for that matter blindly down the rabbit hole.

Sorry, I seem to have lost the drift of your argument, if there ever was one. i think you assume that we are going to get relegated, despite any possible purchases (which will be poor). Is this basically a post for 8 months time assuming we are relegated and likely humliated by how bad we are?

Good grief..................... Nostradamus? Or Nostra Dumass?

Regardless of what the fans think, moral or not, Cortese will do what he thinks fit and best for the business. Two of his options are to release significant funds to plug gaps in the squad that should have been plugged last window, or sack Adkins and bring in another coach to motivate the players, such as Di Matteo.

No morality, justa de business...

I'm sure you must have some brilliant reasoning behind your post but it hasn't come though in this text .....except in the last sentence.....

....does that mean you want to replace Cortese and Adkins ? ...if so, you'll need the £30-odd million to buy the shares and kick them, and then find a new investor.

Wes how are you? I bet you hate this time of year, red faced cherubs running around, carol singing and general joy..............................

I'm entirely happy with Christmas and also with Adkins and the team. The only thing I find boring is you. It's you who seems in need of some festive cheer.

Well, there's the difference between us. I wonder whether it had occurred to you that just around the corner is the January transfer window? You know, the one in which a club can assess where they have shortcomings and address them by bringing in other players.

Anybody with any intelligence would wait and see what action is taken during the January transfer window before making assessments about our prospects for relegation. After all, we've still got just over half the season to go yet.

If we look like going down of course I believe Adkins should go, he bought the players surely? He is the manager after all.

Cortese has to answer questions on the level of purchases and the quality.

...according to some " sources " on this board , one or two of the summer signings were Cortese/ reed choices and not Adkins'.

What are our odds for staying up? They predict dont they? Dont pundits? Dont Owners?

We might go down, we might stay up. This is all the fun of football back in the premier league and 90% of the seasons I have supported Saints we have been involved in a relegation dogfight with much worse squads, and survived.

Just enjoy the ride!

S****horpe kept their manager and went up again.

If we stay up NA has done his job, if we go down we have the most successful manager for getting teams promotion over the last 5-6 years.

Then what?? Move him on if we to back up.

Teams very rarely ever stuck with their manager if they go down and have a success

One more game before the transfer window opens.

Unlike Alp's, I'm happy to give "The Recruitment Committee" a week to get things sorted

Two, Phil. Fulham and Stoke. Can see us potentially winning at Fulham but no way in the world we're getting anything first time out against Stoke, guaranteed at least one "keeper in the net" goal.

I thought of one really quickly. Reading.

I think he meant out of every squad saints have fielded every year we have been in the premier league. The last time we went down, was a squad worse than this one. They werent a team just a selection of players wielded under 3 different managers. Jacobson would be worse than Jos. Id rather have rickie than camara. And schneiderlin/cork over oakley and redknapp (was past it then)

Although you make a valid point too. There are I think 3 teams worse than us in the league: Reading, Wigan. And i think one of Villa and Sunderland will be below us. QPR potentially in that bracket too but Harry will magic his way out of that mess after January.

Nothing wrong with the squad, can't say as much for the manager's use of them often enough.

I love football, and I love Saints. We are 4th from bottom for Christmas, and I seem to remember us being in a worse position than this at this stage of the season a few times, and managed somehow to stay up.

Those who say we have had easy games over the last few weeks are wrong. There are no easy games, and a lot of results do depend on the form of the team at the point of the season you play them.

Football in general is fun, and pretty random at the best of times, and this is why I love the sport so much!

Merry Christmas!
