Good to see Chelsea currently sapping confidence and goal difference from the Villa.

5-0 With 10 mins to go.

7-0 now. The comforting thing is we only have to play Chelski 3 times this season :(

Looooooooooooooooooool

I'm definitely going to be reading the Villa board tonight... it's pretty miserable at the best of times irrespective of how they're performing

8-0

9 would have been sweet, then they would have equalled our goals conceded, but 8 will do nicely. Goal difference is shot to pieces. Now if we win our game in hand we will go above Villa. Ah, forgot our game in hand is against Chelski!!! Oh well, we can dream.

I thought Villa were supposed to be really good now because they beat Liverpool at Anfield?

An but if you heard the commentary Liverpool should never have lost that game. Battered Villa pretty much all game and got caught on the counter with long balls.

I shouldn't read too much into one (embarrassingly bad) result. Nevertheless from a Saints perspective it must be a good thing seeing a relegation rival getting beat quite this badly. To state the bleedin' obvious Paul Lambert will be looking for a decent reaction from his players in their next games - Spurs (H) Wigan (H) Swansea (A)

This season finishes with Villa away at Wigan and us playing Stoke at St Marys - could be interesting.

Villa are poor, have been most of the season bar one or two results.

Yes, that is exactly right

I know it is, I've seen your posts over and over and over this season. You think we are poor and because we spent 30M in the summer we should be at least 6th or something due to the premier league being average and all that.

This. Even though we were L1 two years ago 30m is enough to build a top 10 squad in this average league.

It doesnt matter the other teams have built squads over a few years.

I agree they certainly looked a very poor side when they played us at St Marys. I haven't seen this game, as yet, but the score line speaks for itself I suppose. However the record shows that Villa are still 3 points better off than we are, and coincidently our 'game in hand' is also against Chelsea.

So let's not be planning our Premier League survival party just yet.

Villa should be winning the league seeing as they spent over 20M on one player they don't even play!

Saw that, Chelsea will still be a major force this season. Luiz looked 50 times the player Mikel is in midfield and he's a defender.

Mind you when Torres sinks a header like that after 3 minutes you kinda believe it's your day.

Yeah, their young squad is far superior to ours and our manager is incompetent on every level. Our club is a joke.

This result shows what a huge gap there is between teams like Chelsea and the poor relations outside the top 6 or so. Saints are a poor relation and have no prospect of reaching the top because it means spending silly money. Maybe we'd be better off in the Championship where there is real competition on a level playing field.

So according to the forum trolls/bullies we were scared of Liverpool, whereas brave Villa stood up to them and won, and us beating Villa has no baring on anything so can we expect to lose by double figures to Chelsea or will we just default the game....?

Posted
Thank christ we are not playing chelsea in the league any time soon!! That could have been us!

...mind you the upcoming FA cup game could be a good barometer ...and at least we won't lose three points in that game.

In common with all the press we would like to make it clear that though we may have given the impression that Villa's team of 22 year olds were future world beaters , there is not a jot or scintilla of truth in that. We now believe you win nowt with kids.

Football is strange, I have come to the conclusion that there is no logic to results and a set of results.

Win at Anfield lose 8-0 to Chelsea, we lose at Anfield, but beat villa easy.

Nothing logical about it, Chelsea are 500 times the side that Liverpool are if they want to be. All on fire yesterday and Villa were so sh*t scared of Torres (you know like us with Gerrard) that they just forgot about the other 9. Hazard was brilliant

and Villa just didn't have the experience necessary. Lambert will be sacked soon because his youth team will get them relegated,

we need to beat them though.

That was actually more like -1 point for Villa rather than 0 as their GD has now been trashed.

Being as they are a young team lets hope that this resut crushes them before we play them.

We need all the help we can get.
