what are your thoughts...we have pretty much played everyone...is this years league (so far) as strong as recent years...? is the standards as high as ever..?

what team have impressed you most that we have played...?

IMO, this year (so far) is probably one of the weakest leagues for a long time...definitely weaker (IMO) from the league we left in 2005 and the last couple of years..

the top sides are no where near as good...although, Man U are stronger going forward just crap at the back

reading are just utterly terrible and QPR managed to go 15+ games without a win and the moment they do they come from the bottom of the league.

who are you non-saints stand out players...who, regardless of price would you have if you could pick just one player...?

from a saints POV, going down in this pretty average league by premier league standards would be very poor given the money spent...

I think the quality of the teams at the top have dropped. Man U, man city, arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea.

I think he teams in the bottom 3rd are much the same as normal.

It seems to me that the teams near the top have given up on defending!

It's not the best, but stronger than last season IMO. It doesn;t come close to the PL of a decade or so ago though. Still think we'll survive quite comfortably and I don't think we are particularly strong, so that shows you what I think of some of the other teams around us.

I disagree top 3 are different class to everyone else Spurs and Everton have got better last 2 seasons Arsenal and Liverpool have got worse, most other teams are great going forward and crap defending, its seems alot of teams are going for the were score more then you motto and attacking as much as they can all game.

Anyone can beat anyone outside the top 6 teams, take away 2 mistakes in the swans and NCFC game we would have a extra 4 points, im not scared of any teams oustide the current top 6 we can compete with them now, were 3 players short of a top 10 squad.

As for transfers realistically (well kinda) i would love for us to sign hangerland from fulham to partner jose and i would love to sign back Dyer add these two to our squad with a recall of Sharp were win most of our games.

IMO there are a lot of average players in the prem going for stupid money and demanding good wages and what's even more stupid is the clubs that are prepared to pay for their services.

Bad players are getting the nod just because they cost a lot of money or have some stupid clause in their contracts, and I've always said that the players have too much power and this needs to be taken back from them and given back to the clubs.

Even though the prem is awash with more money than when we left it a few years back, the standard of football has gone down and IMO no team is unbeatable and in reality we have nobody to fear if we get stuck in.

Even though it is refreshing to see WBA,Norwich and Swansea doing well it just highlights the poor standards of the so called big clubs and can only help our goal of staying and competing in this so called best league in the world.

If I had to pick a premier league player of the season now then I would go for Fellaini who cost a miserly £15m compared to some of the overpaid, overpriced pieces of sh!t that kick a ball in the prem.

Yet despite 30m smackeroonies of summer investment (7th highest in Europe), we are making an utter pigs ear of it.

Go Figure..

So who or what is to blame Alps? Serious question. I personally don't believe the £30m was invested wisely and there are too many L1/Championship level players gracing Nigel's 1st team selection sheet.

A lot of threads crop up on here about it not being the end of the world if we go down. The common response is "why would you want to go back to watching championship football?" A fair comment, but if you were there yesterday you'd have no idea you were watching the Premier league if you didn't know already.

How would you not know?

Doesn't seem any different to me. Wins are hard to come by in 2's and 3's for most unless you're a top 5 side and results are difficult to predict in the main. No one is completely cut adrift at the bottom and the title tends to go the very end. Seems like a very competative league to me and haven't seen anythin tangable from any poster on here as to why the standard of the league is "average" whatever that means.
