Luke shaw class

Was excellent today - just very strong on the ball and is very mature in his reading of the game.

Think there's much more to come attacking wise - perhaps he's been playing the percentages so far. There was one moment deep into the second half where he powered from our half into their final third which was very Balesque.

The shot he fizzed in I was on the flight path of, wow a few feet lower and that would have been a spectacular goal to open his account with the ball changed direction at least 3 times and until Mignolet knew it was going over he was a little worried.

Not only is he not overawed by who he is up against, but he is also getting a nice little repetoire of tricks to use.

A fine example of 'you want it? Go and get it' 'when you have it don't let it go!'.

Thought he was not close enough to Fletcher for the goal if I am honest but overall reminds me of bridgey but better

Agreed. Thought he was poor today, and like most of the team gave away a lot of "easy" passes. Poor today - like most of the team - struggling to think who played well for us today really - Kelv is the best I can come up with, mainly for his desire to attack at the end

Incredible maturity for one so young. The last few games have shown why the very top teams have been looking at him. He'll play left back for England one day and make the position his like Cole did. As long as he isn't injured, he's a league above Fox in ability already, which is really saying something when comparing a 17 year old with an experienced Scottish International.

I get the sense that he's still playing within himself, especially going forward.

It's always difficult to compare players, but the temptation to do so with Bale & Bridge is tempting. We were watching Bale in the Championship, but he still had class by the bag full. Bridge was always the better defensively. I see Luke as an enticing combination of the two.

BTW I don't see what he could have done to stop Fletcher except be on the wrong side, which would have been wrong. The genesis of that goal was down our right flank.

Seen him play better but did well today. He's been great since he came into the side. Good defender but think he needs to work on his right foot a bit. He's had a couple of moments where he's had to use it and its not worked out.

One thing that does need changing its the "Luuuuuuke" chant. That is terrible.

Was class, is class but totally different type to Bale or Theo.

He is a much better defender than Bale was at similar age. But Bale is not a defender and is clearly world class in midfield where he now plays. If Shaw develops into a world class midfielder I would be very pleased (and surprised), but he will be a high class defender, much better at this role that Bridge was as well.
