So far has Ramirez been good value @14 million?

Not an attack the guy obviously is a talented footballer but so far it's only been glimpses of talent lots of showboating but gives the ball away far too often! Can you see him going on a goal run? So far I can't and can't help feeling we paid way over the odds. Maybe he is one for the future but is that what we need now?

He always wants to take on too many defenders when he has better options. And those pathetic little lofted diagonal balls into the position where Lambert is inevitably being marked out of it by two players will never, ever produce anything. Very frustrating player. Undoubtedly talented and we have yet to see the best of him I have no doubt, but so far he hasn't earned his price tag for me.

He almost looks like a player wondering if he made the right decision to come here - perhaps because he doesn't really fit into our playing style (he's more a cog in the wheel than a focal point), or because he doesn't fancy playing on English winter days.

Whatever it is, he needs to start making a contribution - for our sake and his own.

remember phil vickery said in the press that he was very dubious if ramirez would cut it in the prem

What did he base that on? And if so why did our scouts deem him worth our record signing?

He was dreadful today but it's really over the top to write him off. He has got plaudits for other performances this season.

The money could probably have been better spent given that we needed a consistent performer but he is playing a useful role

He will come good, 12 mil is to much but then is Ronaldo really worth 80 mil. For any footballer of any ability it will always take time to adjust to a new country/league.give him rime

Ronaldo scores (on average of course) a goal a game for Real, that's worth 80 million £ of any teams money. He also "sells" a fantastic number of replica shirts. Probably sold 80 million £s worth already.

So far, no. But it's clear to see the talent and potential. He needs to mature and grow up a bit, stop trying to be clever when something simple would do.

I won't judge him just on today though, as nobody comes out looking that good.

Think we just have to hope that he will at some point score a couple of goals that prove vital in keeping us up.

Why do some people expect him to be scoring lots of goals. He is not an out and out striker, he is a creative midfielder. There is a lot more to his game than scoring goals. Some people seem to have unrealistic expectations.

He's not been awful, but plays in fits and starts. He had a completely disgusting performance today, but in other games he always wants to do a little too much himself, and 99% of the time loses the ball.

He's got obvious quality, more than anyone else in the team, but you do feel that at times we're not quite on the same wave length as a team.

Agreed entirely. For me though, he hasn't provided enough assists or creativity to justify his price or hype. He was supposed to be our playmaker whose skill and talent would make things happen.

The £20 million spent on JROD RAMIERZ MAYUKA has been money very badly spent with regard to goals scored and chances converted

So Adkins as manager should be open to lots of criticism

They were bought as potential, in a few years time we will probably look back and say it's the best £20m we've ever spent.

As fans we expect too much, too soon. All 3 have obvious quality, and all 3 have demonstrated that. It's a struggle to make much of an impact when you're in and out of the side as a couple of them have been.

I think the £20m will prove to be a sound investment in time.

not if they can't get us the goals necessary to stay in the PL they won't. Lambert cannot do it by himself, we've lost Lallana for a goodly period apparently. We desperately need these 3 to step up in the next 4/5 games because if they don't we are fooked.

they are no doubt amongst the highest paid as well, we need them to play their part now, not in 2 years time.

if we go down....which we will if they dont realise much of their potential then it would be money NOT well spent at all...it will hit us very hard

Well lets develop them whilst we slide back to the Championship and possible administration

Surely they should be contributing something to the team at the moment they must be on a fair wage

Of all our signings only Clyne so far seems to be consistently good the others (Gaston, Rodriques, Mayuka, Davies and Yoshida) have all yet to prove themselves by living up to their transfer fee, although Yoshida seems to be almost there now! Our other two new sucesses so far this season have been Shaw and Puncheon both already at the club!

Ramirez probably makes as much in salary as Cork,Schneiderlin,Shaw and Puncheon together so he should be putting in a shift 4 times as good, every week. When you are on a reported 60K a week you have responsabilities.

Clyne got skinned in the move leading to their goal today, he's good but a really good winger can turn him inside out as of yet.

When did I say I expect him to score loads of goals? I said that I hope he scores a couple of goals that ultimately serve to keep us up and consequently justify his price tag.

He is quality. Sadly, we need another two clones of him with the same vision, as his movement and footballing brain is miles ahead of the rest of the team.

This

and

We didn't spend £12million on him just for these first bunch of games. He's still young and still learning in a new country. And he has NOT been awful ffs.

this.

May not have been his best game today, but he was the only one who actually worked their keeper

So far he's been awful. Can't seem to pass to his own players being the main problem. Hopefully he'll adapt though .. quickly!
So many people on this forum never cease to amaze and annoy me. He has not been awful. He is quite obviously a very talented player, but let`s be realistic. He has come from Italy to play in the PL for the first time, in a team that has been struggling. For every foreign player that makes an instant impact in the league, there are ten that take time to adapt. As far as the transfer fee goes, I don`t think that he had anything to do with it. He was out injured for 3 or 4 weeks with a dead-leg. He has been flying back and forth to Uruguay because of a family bereavement. Give the bloke a decent chance before condemning him as "awful". I know that this is an alien concept on here but let`s try.

i don't think the 14m on Gaston has been wasted or payed over the odds but the 7m on jrod probably should of been spent somewhere else. Mayuka im sure will become good over time but he was a lot cheaper. Like almost all South Americans they need at least a season over to get used to the winter conditions etc so i'm sure Gaston will be a good buy but i think the amount we have spent and the position we're in we're all wondering about the 14m but if you take away the 7m from jrod it wont seem too bad. It's that 7m that has been wasted not the 14m on Gaston.
