£7m on a player we left on the bench today when the game needed changing was a bit odd. We need another striker though, that is good enough to put it in the net at this level.

I'm not sure that we do need another striker. What we need is for those we've already got to shoot when they get a chance or a half-chance.

I love our build-up play but we keep it going 10-15 yards too long.

Today it looked as though Sunderland "had the book on us". We had a lot of possession in the first half, so they concentrated on denying us space in the box rather than denying us the shooting opportunity.

I see more wrong at CAM, LF and Striker to be honest. We are pedestrian through the middle of the park, in the left forward position (when Lallana's not available) and Lambert I think is starting to be found out at this level - he probably found his level to excel at in the Championship, but he is just not mobile enough. Contrast him to Steve Fletcher - much more effective yet very similar role.

Wouldn't mind a new striker tbh. Would settle for sharp coming back as I reckon hcdajfu even at this level

What I heard about today was our supply to the forwards was terrible, our delivery into the box was just far to below standard. This needs to improve.

He was replying to my comment in which I stated that I'd like to see a new cf. his point was that the strikers weren't the problem the service was.. Or are you too intent on trolling (badly) to see that

I am perfectly well aware of that the comment was in reply to your own clueless post - thanks.

Tbh even if we had £100m to spend I doubt we would be able to attract the right players needed due to a combination of our league position, unfashionable club/manager. And the parent clubs reluctance to release players in January.

I also expect that we won't be breaking the bank on wages just in case we get relegated and are then lumbered with a huge wage bill ...... So expect lower league players for around the £2m mark or loans.

I expect our biggest signing to be Jason puncheon.

5 players needed.

1) Gk

2) Cb

3) Lb

4) Def Mid

5) Wide Mid

A centre back to compete with Yoshida, a left back to compete with Shaw, a skilful wide man to rotate with punch and Lallana, a holding midfielder to cover Morgan and an experienced keeper.

Out:

Boruc

Seaborne

Butterfield

Fox

Forte

Chaplow

De Ridder (undecided)

Guly (undecided)

Can't see us going for another GK, that can wait until the summer.

The other ones I agree with. I think we need a modern day Jaidi type CB to play alongside Fonte, and a Mulumbu/Diame type CM. I just feel in certain games we lack that physical presence against physical teams, as talented as Morgan is, he can be brushed off the ball pretty easily it has to be said. All of our midfielders are the same really.

We do need another dimension to our attack, I'd be reluctant to say we specifically need a ''right winger'' or a ''left winger'' - we just need an attack who can play across the front line, either side, or in behind. Pace, strength and an eye for goal. Matt Phillips does tick those boxes.

I don't think we're far away as a team, and it won't take major surgery to make us really competitive at this level.

About the keeper, just think Boruc will be gone in Jan. Agree with all else.

Don't think we're far off a decent squad at all. Lallana brings a lot to our team and influences players alongside. We missed him yesterday and his absence seriously affected the way we normally are successful at playing.

I think Morg does a bloody good job, makes plenty of tackles and puts himself about well!

IMO i think we need another creative winger, was frustrating yesterday to see how many crosses into the box were unsuccessful, with a man of RL's aerial ability the crossing needed to be more varied to give him a chance, corners and FK's flying over everyone and not beating the first man is the most wasteful thing that can be done on a football pitch and it happened a number of times yesterday.

An out and out winger for me! (Punch likes to cut inside) (Ramirez is better in a free role)
