Does anyone know if he found a club? It doesn't look like it from the internet but he is 35, and IMO could still do a job in L1 for the right team.

Scored some really important goals for us, and looked class when on form and fit.

That's the problem. Money is tight down there for most and is more wisely spent on players who can play every game. We were fortunate enough that we could have him as a 'luxury', so to speak.

Probably about right. When he got fit he tended to be able to play 90mins and play a few times a week, but the injuries always put him out the frame for a long time.

Still - if you check his career it was a very good one, decent goal ratio, 9 in 41 for Ireland and also played abroad.

Surprised the Skate ****s weren't interested, he'd have been a good signing on their month long rolling contract system they've got down there.

He was on an Episode of Homes Under the Hammer the other day bidding for a property. I did a double take but it was definitely him - he didn't get it btw.

I always thought he was class when fit, surprised nobody took him on a pay as you play.

Liked him as a player and has certainly played a part in getting us up the divisions. Remember when he came on at Oldham, he was absolutely superb, and had some brilliant link up play with Lambert/Lallana/Guly at the start of last season when we were steamrolling teams.

I think TCM has summed it up however. If money is tight, then why would clubs risk paying him money when the liklihood is he'll be injured for atleast half the season. Would be a good acquisition for someone like Bournemouth.

Has he not come back from the dead yet?

No - he never died. He hated that song when it was sung at Plymouth.

In the same game his shot that hit the bar would have been a worldy if it went it.

maybe that wouldn't suit him, you can train and train and get nothing at the end of the day if the manager doesn't play you.

Wasn't there a case not long back where players were training 6 days a week for less than minimum wage because they weren't picked by the manager for matches. Connolly said in an interview at sometime around the Brighton away match in LI that he'd been fit most of the season but didn't get any game time.

I think he got a bit funny when asked about the injuries. He did seem slightly odd - he never joined in the same warm up as the other players but used to dribble a ball around in his own little world and tap it into an empty net from 3 yards over and over again.

........Mmm, there are a lot of players out there today who can't do that !

I always liked DC, he put in a full shift (when fit) and was an honest player, good luck to him.

Agree, but surely there's better options for him than playing for that basket-case of a football club down the road?

The fact nobody else has signed him since he left us in the summer suggests that perhaps there isn't a better option. For now, at least.

I'm highly amused that they've forced out their leading scorer (well done, boo-boys ) and replaced him with someone who will take his month's contract period to get fit

Good luck Agent Connolly. It may only be a month, but it is a mission none the less. Pass on further instructions to Agent Howard and tell him to keep up the good work!

Usual moronic vitriol on the Echo site from so-called saints supporters. DC was always a decent player for us and a decent bloke, did they really expect him to say when he signed for them, this is a **** club and I intend to take then down another division. Glad that he has found some gainful employment even if he is playing for a lost cause, basket case club, just hope he actually gets paid. I'm sure we didn't all call Channon, Davies and Stokes Skate ******s just because they spent some time in the twilight of thier careers helping out our poor, ungrateful neighbours. Cannot see what motivates people to write abusive stuff, calling people ******s etc in a public forum such as the Echo, really shows what a load of idiots we, like most other clubs, have in our midst.

That has got to hurt. Scummah who hasn't (despite his pedigree) been able to find a club since the end of last season. How many games has he played in the last 2 years?

I liked him, but I guess it shows how desperate things are down the road.

DC was a great player for us and scored some important goals so I wish him the best of luck at Pompey and hopefully one day we'll be able to have another derby with them as its always a great occasion.

Can't see it in at least the next 5 years though.

Will always be grateful for his part in our climb and wish him well.

I'd rather his memory wasn't tainted by the association with where he is now (I hope he gets paid!) but credit him with having the desire to play ...he must have been desperate to do so to end up there!

decent player surely though he had better options than them? But hey if you going to sit on a treatment table till May you might as do it near to home!

There was a lot of rubbish spouted about DC and his injuries, according to the man himself he was fit nearly all of the last season with use. I think even the Skates would not have signed him unless he was fit, even they are not so stupid as to sign someone on a month's ontract without checking out his fitness beforehand (are they?).

I don't have ant anti-Pompey aggro so I'll say Good luck to him, at this stage of his career I'm sure ...he's glad to get a club.

He did well for us (injuries permitting) and is in illustrious company amongst ex-Saints who played for Pompey at the end of their careers...Mick Channon; Ron Davies..for starters...
