Saint Garrett Posted 20 December, 2012 Share Posted 20 December, 2012 Porn money isn't it. Anyway there are a lot of clubs I'd rather he went to than West Ham, they are such a w4nk club.

Window Cleaner Posted 20 December, 2012 Share Posted 20 December, 2012 Is BFS attempting to buy our forward line? Is that now Lambert and Punch they are rumoured in? Looks like unsettling tactics to me, I still think West Ham will drop like a stone second half of this season. They are one of the worst teams I've seen and have a horrendus injury list. There is no way Punch will go in Jan, if he wants to go on a free in the Summer I wouldn't be surprised. It's his last big move at his age so understandable if he wants to look for a big payday. Having said that, don't think it's cut and dried that he will go. Can somebody also shed some light on where they are getting their money from? I thought they were 100mil+ in debt last season and all they have done is spent ****loads and offered players ridiculous contracts again. spent a lot less than us and we're in debt as well. Borrowing money in any amount whatsoever means that technically you are in debt.

Window Cleaner Posted 20 December, 2012 Share Posted 20 December, 2012 Depends what it is used for. no it doesn't, when you have a debt you are in debt even if your assets outweight your liabilities. You may be solvent but you are still a debtor.
Saint Garrett Posted 20 December, 2012 Share Posted 20 December, 2012 True, but debt can be seen as a good thing due to tax reasons. The government encourages businesses to use debt by allowing them to deduct the interest on the debt from corporate income taxes. With the corporate tax rate at 35% (one of the highest in the world) that deduction is quite enticing. It is not uncommon for a company's cost of debt to be below five percent after considering the tax break associated with interest.
DT Posted 20 December, 2012 Share Posted 20 December, 2012 Can definitely see him going as I have suspected for a while now his rise in form is purely 'window-related'. Also suspect he has a high opinion of himself. No evidence, just groundless speculation.
Latheal Posted 20 December, 2012 Share Posted 20 December, 2012 spent a lot less than us and we're in debt as well. I get we're in debt to the future loan, but its hardly the 100m+ that West Ham are. If you look over the spending in the last calendar year, it will be pretty close on expenditure on new players as well. Just surprised they can keep spending vast amounts of money when they were already so much in debt. When we spent our 30mil earlier, I was under the impression it was new debt with our previous debt having been converted to equity. They already appeared to have 100m+ and have not have continued to spend large sums again.

Also suspect he has a high opinion of himself. No evidence, just groundless speculation. Depends on what offers he has available to him. As far as I know he's working without an agent just now and to be honest the break with Finnigan has coincided with his attitude nouveau and his better form. As I see it he might prefer a London team if the offer was right but if not I think he'll stay here at least until the summer. Gives us plenty of time yet. Saint Garrett Posted 20 December, 2012 Share Posted 20 December, 2012 To be fair they made some 'clever' signings. Free Diame Jaaskeleinen Diarra Loan Carroll Benayoun Bought Jarvis £13m Maiga £4m Collins £1m Only really Jarvis was expensive but they did pretty much have a premiership team last season. Wouldn't say they have spent that much.

Don't think Jarvis was £12 million up front. but Collins was £2 million and Diarra was £2 million and Maiga £5, their spending was about £10 million less than us, but they spent a bit more than us last season as well. But they must have some much bigger wages than us and have probably been carrying those wages for a while. They should be cutting costs with that debt so I assume Gold and Sullivan are bankrolling the purchases above the debt re-payments.

Could of sworn there were rumblings that they could do a Pompey. Doesn't really matter but does seem a little strange as one day they were on the brink and if they got relegated they were gong to go into admin. Then they get relegated and go and sign Nolan on sky high wages.

Referring to Nolan, yes he might be on a pretty peny but less than those that he replaced. West Ham had a big turn out, must have shed 20 or 30 million in salaries, how much did they get for Parker ? Window Cleaner Posted 20 December, 2012 Share Posted 20 December, 2012 Serious question, do you actually know he hasn't been offered a new deal or is it just something you suspect because we've heard nothing official? told ou, he doesn't have an agent per se and the club don't trumpet their transactions until they're complete. Most of the transfers and contract extension ructions that you read about in the press are agent instigated.

Charlie Wayman Posted 20 December, 2012 Share Posted 20 December, 2012 Gods knows what will happen here. I would keep him until the summer definitely, deal or no deal. Will a deal be signed?, maybe too much water has passed under the bridge for all parties to come to the table again. Maybe jp change in for is due to him trying to secure a move elsewhere. Maybe NC is being inflexible. Maybe jp' s view on what his wages should be are somewhat optimistic. Look, we don't know and won't know. Haven't you learned anything? NC does not discuss business matters in public and certainly not with fans. JP will sign for 4 years have no fear...
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 20 December, 2012 Share Posted 20 December, 2012 My gut feeling (based on no information at all really) is that he will leave in the summer. I feel that too much has gone on, and both parties will be happy to call it quits. This may explain his upturn in form of late. As I say, just a gut feeling. I could be way off the mark, which wouldn't exactly be a first.

Look at the evidence - everyone saying he has changed, matured and playing ten times better. The situation has changed do revise your comments to suit. Life moves on all the time and so has JP and the club. Why harp on about the past - the past is history, we are are interested in the present and the future..... JP is going no where for 2m so go crawl under a rock and stop letting the past influence your present and future thinking - the past means nothing in this case... westofshannonsaint Posted 21 December, 2012 Share Posted 21 December, 2012 Many on here, including me would have happily taken £1m or less for him this time last year. But, He has been our best player. To lose him in jan would be a blow Not going to bring in anyone better than him for the 2m, I would rather keep him and let him go for free in the summer as he's been decent this year. We would be foolish to sell for £2m now. He's an important part of the team and we will have to spend more to replace him. It's probably better for both sides to let this play out until the summer. Saints have until then (I think) to renew his contract & Punch will know if he wants to commit to us/play prem football next year. After the last few years, if Punch wants to play for Saints he needs to prove his commitment. not sure that Puncheon has an agent per se at this moment. good, regardless of anything Saints related, I think football agents as leeches on the game. He does seem to be a different guy - enjoying his football, his role and the people around him. He seems to have a special rapport with Clyne, not just in the footballing sense but also in the "close buddies" sense. I hope - and think - he's smart enough to realize that he would be risking a lot to move just when he's finding his feet, meshing-in well and achieving his potential.
