old_southy Posted 23 June, 2013 Posted 23 June, 2013 I don't understand why asian supporters that want to support a team in red wouldn't already support Liverpool or Manchester united. If he had some good asian players we would have more of a natural fan base. Americans love spurs because of Dempsey and Friedel not the colour of the shirt.

Bananaman Posted 23 June, 2013 Posted 23 June, 2013 haha, reminds me of when Susan Boyle had her album launch party and the hashtag was #susanalbumparty #saintsanalbumparty?

Hatch Posted 23 June, 2013 Posted 23 June, 2013 quite like the Philadelphia Union kit, might look smart in red and white
SW11_Saint Posted 23 June, 2013 Posted 23 June, 2013 But just changing to "we are red now" is not doing that. It's probably reducing sales if anything - yes people have striped shirts already, but that's what Saints wear and they'll always shift decent numbers. A one season change will move some people to buy a shirt because "it's different", but do it two seasons in a row and where's the selling point then ? Well said. If we'd have introduced a striped shirt this year (or even a variation on the striped theme) I would have bought 4 - two adults, two kids. For the second year in a row I will be buying zero. Most people I got to SMS with will do likewise.
Badger Posted 23 June, 2013 Posted 23 June, 2013 Well said. If we'd have introduced a striped shirt this year (or even a variation on the striped theme) I would have bought 4 - two adults, two kids. For the second year in a row I will be buying zero. Most people I got to SMS with will do likewise. Ditto. I often buy home and away for my sons, at Christmas & birthdays, but told them at the start of last season we would not be getting either, and if we are served up with a 'red abortion' again we will also be boycotting the shirts again. To be fair they also thought the shirts ' un-Saints like' and were not particularly bothered.
St Jim Posted 23 June, 2013 Posted 23 June, 2013 quite like the Philadelphia Union kit, might look smart in red and white That would look amazing in red & white (with black trim where the lighter blue is)
The9 Posted 23 June, 2013 Author Posted 23 June, 2013 (edited) Us? You work for them? "Us" as in the inhabitants of this thread. The consensus ITK so far is that (apart from maybe getting a new store in West Quay), the sales will still be controlled by the club in their stores, plus online. So "available in Sports Direct" would be a significant departure from that. Edited 23 June, 2013 by The9
The9 Posted 23 June, 2013 Author Posted 23 June, 2013 (edited) quite like the Philadelphia Union kit, might look smart in red and white 2011/12 template though, same old flashes across at the end of the 3 stripes. The Portland Timbers kits are a more up-to-date reflection of what adidas can do with a "Xerox-style" template. Edited 23 June, 2013 by The9
The9 Posted 23 June, 2013 Author Posted 23 June, 2013 Well, the twitter leak has made its way to the site I use for most of my UK kit news : http://www.football-shirts.co.uk/fans/possible-southampton-fc-adidas-red-home-shirt-201314_20513 I think they may have posted a little more of the "we hate stripes" opinion than imagined... namecheckamania for *cough* someone. "Saints fan >, who has been running a thread on Saintsweb forum commented “Most people hate it and want a return to the stripes. There was a poll on Saintsweb a few weeks back where 2/3rds voted for stripes and ‘a plain colour’ was less popular than ‘don’t mind’ “." I'd also like to point out that "running" is not my preferred term.
doggface Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 Anyone seen the new WBA away? Blend of the tiro 13 with stripes.
shurlock Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 quite like the Philadelphia Union kit, might look smart in red and white Could easily see a few geordie lasses in a black and white version of that.
Badger Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 Anyone seen the new WBA away? Blend of the tiro 13 with stripes. ...possibly ?
The Kraken Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 Badge is too low compared to the adidas logo, and the blue of it looks weird on red. And they've gone for a massive red sticker as the main sponsor instead of adjusting the stripes of the shirt. Horrible.
Saint Garrett Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 ...possibly ? Yeah, don't like that. It looks like that shocker of a kit we had when Bale was playing for us with black arms. Highlights the sponsor too much IMO
Saint Garrett Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 would prefer that to all red though Well yes but that's a given!!
Pedro Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 Not trawled all this thread, do we know the launch date of the kit?
SO16_Saint Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 Not trawled all this thread, do we know the launch date of the kit? Released on Friday on the web
doggface Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 Is that so so16? Do u know the colour of the sponsor? Gold or black/white? when in store?
SO16_Saint Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 Is that so so16? Do u know the colour of the sponsor? Gold or black/white? when in store? Don't know and probably Saturday
southamptonbairn Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 If the rumours are true that the kit arrived without the sponsors logo on it due to the uncertainty of the sponsor, here's hoping you can purchase the top without the logo.
SO16_Saint Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 If the rumours are true that the kit arrived without the sponsors logo on it due to the uncertainty of the sponsor, here's hoping you can purchase the top without the logo. There's a logo
doggface Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 If the rumours are true that the kit arrived without the sponsors logo on it due to the uncertainty of the sponsor, here's hoping you can purchase the top without the logo. Yeah would be nice but no chance tbh. aap3 would not want to miss out on their advertising.
Saint Garrett Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 Aap3 will be sponsors, it will be plain red with white on the sleeves, gold badge.
SO16_Saint Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 I'm still confident on our bet Kraken...... I'm looking forward to my mortgage being paid off
Webby Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 Aap3 will be sponsors, it will be plain red with white on the sleeves, gold badge. And stripes on the shoulders.
SW11_Saint Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 Yeah, don't like that. It looks like that shocker of a kit we had when Bale was playing for us with black arms. Highlights the sponsor too much IMO Would take that (in red & white) over the generic crap we're going to get any day. Lucky old West Brom.
SW11_Saint Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 ...possibly ? Wonder if they're changing their home kit to all blue? (and if some of their fans are saying "the kit we wear has no relevance whatsoever"?)
SW11_Saint Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 Ditto. Same here. They are only 7 yet, on seeing last years monstrosity exclaimed "that's not a Saints kit!". They won't be missing anything by the the sounds of it this year either...
St Lej Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 Aap3 will be sponsors, it will be plain red with white on the sleeves, gold badge. Yep gold badge gold Adidas logo and gold App3 logo. Red Shorts gold logos 3 white stripes.
SW11_Saint Posted 24 June, 2013 Posted 24 June, 2013 Yep gold badge gold Adidas logo and gold App3 logo. Red Shorts gold logos 3 white stripes. Generic, yet also tacky. Double whammy. Well done Saints!
Dr Who? Posted 25 June, 2013 Posted 25 June, 2013 Gold, please not a gold badge? Does this mean we are changing out badge? Silver yes, gold, no! If this is going to be the badge on the kit, the surely it becomes our official badge? I think red and white stripes with the normal badge
darren2 Posted 25 June, 2013 Posted 25 June, 2013 Weren't gold badges once saved for teams that have won something? ie Chelsea Champions league shirt etc??
