Pointless Early 2013/14 Kit Speculation Thread

Please say that is a training shirt! Didn't like this years kit, a it didn't feel like watching Saints.

Stripes, Rank Xerox, Quarters, Sash but not all red!

If the away is black and gold it won't be too bad and would tie in with the Lotus rumour. But gold and red? Not for me!

I can't think of a worse kit that would have been red than just a plain red shirt with Adidas stripes on the arms. Utter ****. We're Southampton, we're not Bristol city, Swindon, Crewe, Middlesbrough, Liverpool, we're Southampton and we play in stripes ffs!!! Managed to make a lovely kit in 2012(promotion kit), base it on that!

Fine as a training top. ****ing horrible as a kit.

If this is really it, and I hate to say I suspect it probaly is iI despair. I made a joke recently that Cortese had a hard on for 80's Liverpool last year, this year it will probably be Bayern Munich. Hadn't realised I was right.

Regardless, he's clearly hell bent on erasing any link with out traditional livery.

Horrible. Just f@@king horrible.

If true, we should all turn up in stripes for the first home game of the season.

What, the few people in comparison on here who don't like it.

We both know that it will probably sell well. Probably not as well as a better design but well enough and soon enough. Most saints fans won't really care either way. Tis the way with us

It's not like we have never had an all red kit before either

Don't mind the design on the left, but the one on the right just looks like a botched Arsenal/Liverpool hybrid kit.

Tbf red and white stripes are what symbolises our club, but while Stoke and Sunderland are in this division it pains me to say that I don't think we'll be able to get away with having them on our shirts.

The first time was last/this year. Red Shirt/Shorts/Socks.

We've had red shirts before, but the shorts and socks on top were the clincher.

Again. I should imagine that the casual fan hardly registers the colours of the socks and shorts

Pretty much every saints fan I know wants us to play in stripes. Sash was accepted as a one off as it was 125 years, last yrs was accepted but not loved due to it clinging on to being stripes, would hate to just play in red, it's just so **** and boring.

SOS

Anyone else noticed the blurred out liver bird on the collar? Photoshop job, f'sure. That's not our kit guys - stand down.

That wouldn't make any sense mate, Liverpool now wear kits made by Warrior, havn't used Adidas for two years now and that shirt matches some of the already witnessed new patterns.

Every kit is boring really. Or hideous or uninventive. Most kits are met by this in varying degrees these days.

Some, not many but some, would say stripes are dull. I personally don't mind change at all with our colours (red and white)

Also is this years template and as you said, Liverpool are already with Warrior so may look like a liver bird but probably isnt.

One thing, it does look as though it's probably a child's size from that picture.

If we are not going to go back to a shirt with stripes, why not go the whole hog a bit like Cardiff, and change the colour completely, why not go with green or yellow as our home kit? Personally I would love to see us back in red and white stipes.

I heard this rather ridiculous argument last year too. "We can't possibly wear red and white stripes, we'll get 'confused' with Sunderland and Stoke, we need to differentiate ourselves". WTF?!? We're Saints - we play in red & white stripes and black shorts. Be proud of it and wear them with pride. Why would anyone need to change from their traditional kit?

(and doesn't all red just 'confuse' us with Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal?? We need to differentiate ourselves!!! Or maybe Cortese thinks being confused with that lot makes us a bigger, better, club).

I think blue shirts, white shorts and red socks would look cool.

All I wanted was some smart looking stripes. If Ashley did this and just went all black at Newcastle they'd be uproar.

What do you mean by "get away with"? What is there to get away with?

Hilarious that in this day and age 'leaked' pics are always such bad quality, either out of focus or trimed off... this is both. I guarantee that if any of us took a pic of a shirt it would be fine to use, this is crappy and possibly fake.

I'm afraid you are wrong. Every element of that horrendously poor shirt is as it's been described on this thread already - including the fcking TERRIBLE gold badge which someone mentioned fairly recently. Christ, I've all but mocked it up already, other than the sh1tty badge. There's no "liver bird", I don't even know what you think is a liver bird, and Liverpool don't even wear adidas, and don't have a kit that looks like that. If you mean the inside of the shirt, that's an adidas equipment logo along with the size information for various continents. You can see it here on the Chelsea kit :

10643_4_max.jpg

It is a 2013/14 style, has the cheap teamwear collar, the pointless white sleeve pieces (which I took great trouble to eradicate from the template I used because they were so nasty I figured no-one could possibly choose it), the ugly gold badge (which at least will look great on the black away), even the new 2013/14 climacool logo bottom right corner. The training tops are all a completely different style and have been the same for every adidas club so far, so it's not one of those. That is a terrible, awful, boring, ugly, poorly designed, un-Saintslike shirt and whoever thought it was a good idea should be hung... in effigy.

We are a low-totem parks-level teamwear effort with a badge tacked on. Ugh. Based on what we've heard on here already, I'd say that was 95% the actual shirt (minus the sponsor). It is always possible it's a late version of a sample, but there's a tag on it, so suspect not.

Oh well, gives me £47 to spend on something else. Maybe a nice traditional amber Newport County shirt.

Having an almost identical kit to two other clubs? I dunno, I don't design the kits....if I did we'd be getting a Rank Xerox kit!

For what it's worth, our "new" kit is almost identical to Bristol City's and Hearts'.

Teams playing in red and white stripes : 2

Teams playing in red shirts with some white bits : 4

Teams playing in pink with yellow spots : 0

I have no idea why anyone thinks "other teams wear similar colours" is ANY kind of defence for this kind of pointless rebranding exercise.

Nigeria playing in a green version of that now on BBC3

and with collars.

Nigeria are playing in a green version of the 3 year old Paraguay kit... or 2 year old Stoke kit. It's also the same as the 2012 New England Revolution shirt they're still wearing. There aren't any current templates (that I can recall) with a solid single colour the full length of the side of the shirt, only templates which came out over a year ago. Adidas operate on a 1 year rotation for almost all their teams, random international ones usually being the exception, and they NEVER give out old templates to teams getting new kits.

It's not the left one, you can see where the white stops on the sleeve is where the underarm "arrow" bit on the shirt goes, and the material in that area is red - even if you can't actually see the "arrow" shape.

That badge in gold on red looks bloody awful too, and I bet we'll be having gold numbers on the back now as well, such an "ideas above your station/new money" Pompey-type thing to do.

Chill out mate, it's just a shirt! I won't be buying it anyway, i'm happy with my sash kit still..
