Pointless Early 2013/14 Kit Speculation Thread

The9

Recommended Posts

Sorry The9, just grabbed the nearest red shirt to put the lines on. Didn't think you mind as it was for a joke on this forum! (I guess referencing the ****ty graphic that announced the Adidas deal on the OS, has been lost. Not that it was a good gag, but hey!)

FYI there are a couple of shirt ideas for other teams doing the rounds that are also using your original mock up!

I'm not bothered at all, and as for twitter... they're welcome to it, I won't be using it any time soon. Anyone can take a pic of a teamwear kit, shove it into Paint.NET and stick a Saints badge on it...

It definitely won't be that, it's a 2012 template, you can see the white flash across at the end of the 3 stripes which is in a contrast colour on the 2012/13 Stoke and West Brom kits. Still going to be better than anything all red though.

I'm sure that as a kid shirts weren't changed as regularly as they are nowadays?

New shirt in each of the last 4 seasons at least, and another one set for this season - and again next season.

We seem to be accepting of this but I think it's wrong. Understand why clubs do it though

It is more than from years back but I don't have a problem with it. No-one forces you to buy the shirt, and if people stopped buying shirts then the change every year wouldn't happen. So it satisfies demand. And you can't really complain if you buy an item of clothing and a year later it needs replacing.

No, I know, and I'm guilty of doing it as much as anyone else. Bought home and away last season, a will prob get home this....regardless of the design.

I buy one every five years on average. Bought the sash, previous one was out relegation shirt, previous was our first yr at st Mary's. I don't wear it enough to make it worthwhile to buy every year.

I will happily buy next years if its nice and decent stripes, but right now if its ****ty Liverpool kit I will keep my money!

Don't know if this has been posted before (I donn't think so) but saw this on Twitter just now. Completely unsubstantiated though:

Can't seem to insert an image so if someone can PM me, I'll send them an image to upload.

The aap3 logo is all wrong of course. But this would obviously have to be, as the twitter picture says, a really rough version that a fan has designed. Presumably after hearing a description of the kit. I know its very unlikely to be genuine but I think a lot of us would prefer this kit design to the all red shirt designs we have been speculating we are about to get for the last couple of weeks.

are saints now the only club to have not announced any new kit or first team friendlies ?

not sure if it's down to us being unorganised or just not bothered about announcing things at the end of the season.

I'd be happy with this hope there is some truth in this. It's obviously a mock up but maybe someone has done after seeing/hearing about the actual design.

The following clubs have announced their new kits:-

Chelsea

Liverpool

Man City

Man Utd

Newcastle (away)

Aston Villa

Cardiff

Norwich

Palace

Stoke (away)

Sunderland (away)

Swansea

West Ham

Hull (away)

Thing is we only got the deal sorted with adidas recently so it will take use a bit longer plus lets hope Cortese is busy with all these transfer negotiations!

West Ham don't seem to be struggling with switching to adidas, could that be because they're more organised than us?

That striped thing is horrible, and doesn't correspond to any description we've heard on here. At least it's a current 13/14 template though.

Why ? Are you seriously suggesting the discussion about the kit appearance only started when the deal was finalised ?

The one year cycle has been in use for about 5 years now, it was specifically announced for Saints' Umbro deal in 2008, and Adidas have done it for all clubs for a similar time.

Spurs have been changing 3 kits a season since 2000 though, which was around the time the UK government recommended a minimum 2 year duration, after parents' complaints led to a working party investigation.

The deal would have been in discussion for months as Umbro knew ages ago they wouldn't be supplying kits next season due to their change in ownership. The club probably feel they will sell more if they build up demand/anticipation through a delayed launch.

Also, we will be selecting our kit from one of their templates as we don't sell enough to warrant a bespoke design.

Everyone gets one of their templates, but there are levels of template :

1) "Variation on a template with a bit of trim or pattern where others don't have it and a weave or pattern that is unique to the club" (eg Bayern's diamond weave),

2) "Standard template, but with a bit of a club-related tweak" (West Ham's pinstriped away, MLS kits with the print pattern)

3) "You can have that Hull away/Hearts away/Bolton teamwear one for one of the kits, what colour do you want it in?" to

4) "Here's the catalogue, we're putting your badge on it".

I think we're sitting somewhere between 2 and 3, we just don't know where exactly yet.

Oh, and just noticed the thread was started on 19th December 2012 (yeah, it really WAS pointless and early!), so a chorus of footballing trumpets for the 6 month "halfiversary".

I see a deep V neck on the Fulham shirt. That's unique in English kits so far (Aberdeen have it though), unless of course the rumours about Saints' away are right ?

Did we get any clarity from the ITKers on the 3 areas of conjecture I posted ?

Oh, and I believe that makes Saints and West Brom the only remaining Prem clubs to not have either released a shirt, promoted a shirt with a release date, or had a shirt leaked.
