Colinjb Posted 13 June, 2013 Posted 13 June, 2013 I bought a retro shirt about 7 or 8 years ago, and Medium then was what you'd expect from Medium. The Medium today is about 30% bigger, so pretty annoying. It's going to cost me a fortune to put on the 3 or 4 stone required to buy a retro shirt. Nonsense. Those cheap sausages and pastas will save you a fortune!!
Colinjb Posted 13 June, 2013 Posted 13 June, 2013 That is vile!!!! ^ Now, a Red/White version of that like the St Mary's retro shirt released when we left the dell and wore against Brighton in the final game there... I would love it!
The9 Posted 13 June, 2013 Author Posted 13 June, 2013 I prefer the Villa home (see this thread http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?44882-Premier-League-Kits-2013-14/page2) but the away is alright-ish. I wouldn't be keen on a quartered kit (though any mix of red and white is better than just red - with the exception of the 98 Bilbao anniversary lion shirt [which I own] and the 2000 Bilbao blob kits).
timayes Posted 13 June, 2013 Posted 13 June, 2013 I'm nervous ours will have a fcking awful pocket like the Milan away shirt. Do you mean the Marseille shirt? I can't see a pocket on the Milan shirt. Loving the retro 80-85 look with the centered badge. +1 from me.
Window Cleaner Posted 13 June, 2013 Posted 13 June, 2013 http://www.whoateallthepies.tv/kits/165592/ac-milans-new-201314-third-shirt-features-a-pocket-what-how-and-why.html This monstrosity. With every Adidas shirt this year being awful or extremely bland, I think the best we can hope for is a plain red shirt. I don't know why we'd get any special attention and decent design when so many other clubs don't. Milan? Pocket on shirt, must be for either a couple of folded notes for the ref or for their smartphones in case their agent can get them a bigger money transfer in the middle of a game, could be for calls from "Ruby" though.
Essruu Posted 13 June, 2013 Posted 13 June, 2013 I'm nervous ours will have a fcking awful pocket like the Milan away shirt. The pocket is clearly aimed at the replica kit wearing market. It gives the average Shirter somewhere to keep a packet of condoms that they'll never, EVER, use.

Badger Posted 13 June, 2013 Posted 13 June, 2013 Ours will be ****, just like last year's. I am expecting this to be honest, anything better will be a bonus.

SO16_Saint Posted 13 June, 2013 Posted 13 June, 2013 I hear that we will know news on new kit etc within the next week
Rusaldo Posted 13 June, 2013 Posted 13 June, 2013 I hear that we will know news on new kit etc within the next week Don't tease
SO16_Saint Posted 13 June, 2013 Posted 13 June, 2013 Don't tease That's all I know. Finer details to be confirmed, and announced, in the next week with production starting and going on sale at the end of the month

SO16_Saint Posted 13 June, 2013 Posted 13 June, 2013 Makes you wonder just how quickly they can churn them out! I would assume there is a short list of 1/2 kits ready for the big red button to be pressed
Katalinic Posted 13 June, 2013 Posted 13 June, 2013 Sunderland away. I'm almost convinced we are going to get a red version of this. God that would be depressing, a complete bland nothing kit, the shirt equivalent of a Ford Focus
Colinjb Posted 13 June, 2013 Posted 13 June, 2013 I would assume there is a short list of 1/2 kits ready for the big red button to be pressed Or the correct sweatshop workers to be 'encouraged.'

Rebel Posted 13 June, 2013 Posted 13 June, 2013 The kits have been chosen. They are just waiting to sign up a new sponsor. The home kit will be a red shirt with white ends to the sleeves, with red shorts Based on the same design as the Bristol City and Hearts home shirts. The away kit will be black with a deep v-neck white collar. Based on the same design as the Aberdeen home shirt. The socks will be hooped. The badge will be gold or silver.

If this true I for one will not be buying a new kit. We are going to lose our essential identity over time. And I say this as a person who cares little about these debates to be honest. But no - this would be a step too far in the wrong direction for me.

Saint Garrett Posted 13 June, 2013 Posted 13 June, 2013 I rarely buy shirts. Wish I'd got our promotion shirt though now. Loved that kit but never got round to it.

First thing to say is that you've linked last year's Bristol City shirt, second thing to say is that I've already done mock-ups of the Hearts home shirt style, before the West Ham kit away kit got leaked leaving us hoping we might at the very least get a nice pin-stripe. So, it'll all be about the collar - if it's the same as the one below it's a teamwear ripoff, if it's got a different collar there's at least been some effort. Compared to the shirt below, there is expected to be a new sponsor, white cuffs, and the shirt probably won't have the seam across the front. But anyway, 26 May I did this... As for the away kit - the deep V makes sense as it's typically teamwear for an adidas away kit, but the V in WHITE not gold ??!?" And badge in silver or gold makes no sense when the adidas stuff has already shown a gold logo on black background. Both home and away socks hooped or just the away ? Edited 14 June, 2013 by The9

At least with Adidas you get stripes by default.
doggface Posted 14 June, 2013 Posted 14 June, 2013 Fulham training range will be same as ours, perhaps different colour scheme if anything. Here is the range in action: http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2013/june/12/new-training-kit Surely we will not be getting exactly the rovers home? http://www.prodirectsoccer.com/mobile/products/60786.aspx The away? Can't see it tbh http://www.prodirectsoccer.com/mobile/products/60773.aspx
SO16_Saint Posted 14 June, 2013 Posted 14 June, 2013 Ok maybe there won't be such a big change after all

Saint Charlie Posted 14 June, 2013 Posted 14 June, 2013 Said it earlier in the thread - most of these adidas kits are horrible. The Nike ones are better, even if they are often more plain they just look better.
Saint Garrett Posted 14 June, 2013 Posted 14 June, 2013 That looks like one of them under armour shirts which you wear under the actual shirt.

Saint Garrett Posted 14 June, 2013 Posted 14 June, 2013 Ok maybe there won't be such a big change after all Guessing we''re sticking with aap3? And GETTING OUR STRIPES BACK??? One can dream...!

Saint Garrett Posted 14 June, 2013 Posted 14 June, 2013 Still surprised how little people have cared about becoming another Liverpool, Boro, Bristol City, Swindon or whoever else plays in all red. I hate it. Same, some people just seem to have accepted we just play in red. I can't stand it either. Southampton play in stripes, I want our stripes back.
SO16_Saint Posted 14 June, 2013 Posted 14 June, 2013 Same, some people just seem to have accepted we just play in red. I can't stand it either. Southampton play in stripes, I want our stripes back. In the very recent past, we've played in stripes
Colinjb Posted 14 June, 2013 Posted 14 June, 2013 Still surprised how little people have cared about becoming another Liverpool, Boro, Bristol City, Swindon or whoever else plays in all red. I hate it. While people keep buying them there will be no incentive for the club to revert back. Yes, I do appreciate the irony of me saying this.
St Louis Posted 14 June, 2013 Posted 14 June, 2013 That mock up is nice IMO, but as Rebel said earlier the sleeves are white (certainly are on the short sleeve) not sure how that will work on the long sleeve?
Saint Garrett Posted 14 June, 2013 Posted 14 June, 2013 In the very recent past, we've played in stripes Between 1896 - 1980 we played in stripes. 1980 - 1985 was the one 'big' stripe down the middle (Keegan era) 1985 - 1987 Centenery kit. 1987 - 1989 That kind of half red half thin stripes kit. 1989 - 2010 stripes 2011 - 125 year kit. 2012 - stripes 2013 - pinstripes. I wasn't a fan of this years kit but it still had a stripe part to it - even though it was pinstripe I could put up with it for one season. However, if we just went plain red then it would be pretty awful IMO. Even the 'non' striped kits had some kind of relation to stripes. The only ones that haven't have been the Centenery and the 125 year kits.
Colinjb Posted 14 June, 2013 Posted 14 June, 2013 Regardless, Saints aren't an all red team are they. As I said last year, it's not just about the shirt, the red shorts and socks are the bit that leave the kit looking foreign. Throw in Black shorts and white socks and it will look a lot better.
warsash saint Posted 14 June, 2013 Posted 14 June, 2013 Same, some people just seem to have accepted we just play in red. I can't stand it either. Southampton play in stripes, I want our stripes back. 100% agree but until we hurt the club in the pocket by not buying it, nothing will change !
