The9 Posted 7 June, 2013 Author Posted 7 June, 2013 The black kit looked sh!t because it was sh!t. The club had a great opportunity to make a really nice away kit with no sponsor and failed miserably. FWIW, I think the majority of Nike kits are atrocious. I think the majority of current Nike kits are terribly dull, with about 90% based on a plain colour with contrast sleeves and no colour contrast other than that, all using the same basic template, and their laziness in also rolling out 4 year old teamwear designs for professional clubs is completely ridiculous.
The9 Posted 7 June, 2013 Author Posted 7 June, 2013 I think the stuck on patch on the current home shirt looks unbelievably tacky. I think it looks fine in itself and it's the shirt design itself which is the problem.

The9 Posted 7 June, 2013 Author Posted 7 June, 2013 Yet ANOTHER red and white adidas shirt, this time Swindon's on the far right (another teamwear template and the first one in this style I've seen):
Matthew Le God Posted 7 June, 2013 Posted 7 June, 2013 Swindon's on the far right. I thought Di Canio left Swindon?
The9 Posted 7 June, 2013 Author Posted 7 June, 2013 I thought Di Canio left Swindon? Had it not been for the need to add brackets to my original post I would have made that joke too !
Window Cleaner Posted 7 June, 2013 Posted 7 June, 2013 What about something like this? Encorporates the stripes and sash. In the immortal words of Stiffler...f*ck no
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 8 June, 2013 Posted 8 June, 2013 clearer view of the Swindon shirt Don't like.
The9 Posted 8 June, 2013 Author Posted 8 June, 2013 FWIW, Paraguay played in the "old" kit again yesterday, still 3 years old though.
krissyboy31 Posted 8 June, 2013 Posted 8 June, 2013 Why not a red & white version of what Argentina were wearing last night? Sent from my GT-I8190N using Tapatalk 4 Beta
The9 Posted 9 June, 2013 Author Posted 9 June, 2013 Here's the 2013/14 Basel shirt, for those of you who have been waiting on it so you can see what a halved shirt would look like - it's also the "other" arrows under armpits kit that could be a template for the home shirt, and shows the different material piece shapes nicely.

SuperMikey Posted 9 June, 2013 Posted 9 June, 2013 Michael Macdonald @Macdoodle7m @JFBLucas Any news on when our kit will be revealed Jim? Jim Lucas @JFBLucas5m @Macdoodle Afraid not, mate. Just keep checking Twitter and http://www.saintsfc.co.uk . #saintsfc Thought it might be worth a go
The9 Posted 9 June, 2013 Author Posted 9 June, 2013 Oh and FWIW, I don't know what Steve Grant has been doing to the Southampton IFC (Fans' team) kit when he gets it washed after matches, but I reckon it's been worn about 3 times total in the past 12 months since we got it (the last striped kit), and the aap3 logos are all showing the red stripe through the sponsor's logo and "shadowing" where you can see the glue on the logo all around it. Meanwhile, my Saints kit from that season, which is about a year older, is still in perfect nick. I think someone, or someone's launderette, having been blitzing the buggers on 80 degrees.
old_southy Posted 9 June, 2013 Posted 9 June, 2013 That new Argentina kit is amazing. Would love it to be ours. (red and white of course)
Chez Posted 9 June, 2013 Posted 9 June, 2013 (edited) Is it just me that thinks most of the adidas kits aren't that great, certainly miles behind the nike ones? Nope. Can't stand them. They all look so regimented and over branded. The three stripes on shorts, shirts and socks is far too much. The newer, I'd say ugly logo, slapped in the middle of the shirt sucks. It's all subjective though. I think the current white shirt is right up there as our best ever kit behind the last striped shirt with the gold trim and I hated the sash and think the Xerox kit is actually crap and that people's nostagia gets the better of them. As I said, its all subjective. Edited 9 June, 2013 by Chez

hypochondriac Posted 9 June, 2013 Posted 9 June, 2013 That is beautiful. I think everyone would love that.
SaintRichmond Posted 9 June, 2013 Posted 9 June, 2013 What makes anyone think that Cortese would ever consider going back to Red & White stripes ?? Don't think so IMHO Would be a 100% change of direction, ie from red back to stripes (I know people argue that last seasons was "stripes", but, the white quarter inch is NOT what Saints fans call a stripe ) At a distance, it looked plain red
Saint Jude Posted 9 June, 2013 Posted 9 June, 2013 That is beautiful. I think everyone would love that. ...and with black shorts please....
SuperMikey Posted 9 June, 2013 Posted 9 June, 2013 Looks too much like a Stoke kit to me. Still like it though.
Delboy Dave Posted 9 June, 2013 Posted 9 June, 2013 First team I thought of when I saw that kit above was Stoke
Matthew Le God Posted 9 June, 2013 Posted 9 June, 2013 Looks too much like a Stoke kit to me. Still like it though. First team I thought of when I saw that kit above was Stoke What would Adidas have to do to a red and white striped shirt for it to be a "Southampton kit" and not "Stoke kit"? Putting a Southampton badge on it is about it.
old_southy Posted 9 June, 2013 Posted 9 June, 2013 Looks incredible! Best kit mock up so far imo. I have guaranteed myself disappointment on release day now.
Saint Garrett Posted 9 June, 2013 Posted 9 June, 2013 That's lovely. Pure and simple. Good even stripes, nothing too fancy, just nice and simple r+w stripes. Would be very happy with that even though it prob won be that! Since Cortese had come in we've had 2010 - Stripes 2011- Sash 2012 - Stripes 2013 - Red (minuscule pinstripes) 2014....Stripes...?
DuncanRG Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 What makes anyone think that Cortese would ever consider going back to Red & White stripes ?? The fact that we've had them for the majority of his time here. I also seem to remember that the press release for this season's kit mentioned that it was a special kit to commemorate our return to the top flight, something like that. So it might yet be a one-off, we'll have to wait and see.
rooney Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 ...and with black shorts please.... and white socks with 2 red rings around the top or black socks with simliar
hypochondriac Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 I don't care what anyone says, that is a lovely kit above. We won't be having it though
scdean Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 I don't care what anyone says, that is a lovely kit above. We won't be having it though its nice... the red is a little bright. what about with a deeper red. almost blood red?! i would like something traditional for the home kit, but quite open to something kinda 'out there' for an away kit. not horrible 80s business like liverpool's, but maybe something a bit more Risqué ??!!! maybe something like what the french teams have etc. thoughts??
Rusaldo Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 What would Adidas have to do to a red and white striped shirt for it to be a "Southampton kit" and not "Stoke kit"? Putting a Southampton badge on it is about it. Why not flip the colours so it's mainly white with two red stripes?

We can have whatever anyone wants for the away kit. Home should be red and white stripes though.
niceandfriendly Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 Yep, I think something like this done properly would be great.
Golden Balls Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 Love that kit. Never thought I'd say this but the sponsor looks a bit small. Like the idea of reversing the colours. Can someone mock that up?
CB Fry Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 What would Adidas have to do to a red and white striped shirt for it to be a "Southampton kit" and not "Stoke kit"? Putting a Southampton badge on it is about it. I always think of a classic Saints kit as having black pinstripes between the red and white stripes but that's probably just me.
alpine_saint Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 The fact that we've had them for the majority of his time here. I also seem to remember that the press release for this season's kit mentioned that it was a special kit to commemorate our return to the top flight, something like that. So it might yet be a one-off, we'll have to wait and see. Then, with a nod to our history, it should be a Rank Xerox kit to represent the pinnacle of our achievement last time round, and to set the bar for this time.
alpine_saint Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 Get rid of that middle red stripe and you've got a good shirt. yesyesyes
itchen_dan Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 Get rid of that middle red stripe and you've got a good shirt. Seems like gold and silver will feature on the kits based on all the recent branding anyway. Maybe black and silver, red, white and gold? yesyesyes
Golden Balls Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 My god yes!!! I'd buy 2 so I could wear one while putting the other in the wash.
Wurzel Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 Definitely the centred badge. They could even persuade me to part with hard earned cash for that one (apart from sash haven't bought a home shirt for god knows how long)
theyin Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 (edited) How about the black pinstripes to send us all to oblivion? Cracking work itchen_dan Actually that can keep for next season, don't want to rush things Edited 10 June, 2013 by theyin
Saint Charlie Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 Aren't we getting that awful Hearts template though?
hypochondriac Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 Wish the club could see this. Make something like the shirts above and they would sell a shedload.
Batman Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 Wish the club could see this. Make something like the shirts above and they would sell a shedload. they do anyway, dont they?
