Pointless Early 2013/14 Kit Speculation Thread

Let me think... last year I only sold my duplicates, you bought one, remember !? I am now down to only one of each (sometimes I have SS and LS though, or numbered and blank where I've played in it for the IFC team).

I do indeed. Still delighted with the purchase!

That is a very eclectic mix there... superb! :)

Mega hideous!

Have the club announced a date for unveiling the new kit?

Their white away and black third are both awful, haven't seen the shorts/socks yet though.

It has been rumoured that Saints launch will either mid-June or 1st July (which was the date last year).

1st of July is rumoured date I have heard from a few people.

Am I right in thinking there was a guy off here a few years back who used to design the kits when they were Saints own brand?.

GeckoSaint was involved for a couple of kits circa 2007ish.

The red and white ones are quite good.

Not convinced by the other offerings.

Probably better than the end product when released.

This will be the training shirt. Up to Saints to decide whether to keep panel black, or have it red.

Do you mean "that will be the style" or "that will be the style and colour"? I can't see us having a training shirt that looks that much like the home shirt will, so guessing we'll probably have a gold one or black one or something. Can't say I'm massively enthused anyway.

Source? Cheers

Adidas training teamwear's been seen already, think it's even been on this thread already, that's why I was trying to clarify if it was definitely those colours or not.

Cheers I thought so.

The only mock up I really like is the red & white stripes with the collar, which is highly unlikely to happen

I don't want to suggest that "The Southampton Way" is catching on, but "striped team moves to plain red kit, uses gold trim and has special anniversary badge" seem to have been done before :

Here's the new Bristol Cituy away and home - you'll notice the similarity between this and the mock up I posted a few weeks back - so that rules THIS one out.

One thing is becoming clear, with Hearts, Bolton and Bristol City the teams outside the Prem are getting standard teamwear templates with the standard collar and almost all are having the round neck away shirt with the two colour panels under the arms, I'm expecting us to be more in line with the West Ham away style.

So you can rule out Saints wearing the exact kit Bristol City have, anyway. But something with a different collar and red where the white arm bit is, and pinstripes, seems pretty likely.

The new Chelsea home shirt could be a template, it has a faint striping effect and v neck collar

Could be, but the West Ham away (which the same template as far as the material template shapes go) has actual pinstripes, not just shadow weave bits.

I remember reading weeks ago that Paraguay had a new Adidas shirt but cant find the link or anything else about it anywhere, so I may have just imagined it.

anyway they are playing tonight, and as they play in red and white, I shall be tuning in.

FWIW Paraguay were still wearing the 2011 shirt in their last matches and their website is still showing that style on the player pics (which also explains why it's $85 some places), but it is 3 years out of date so that won't be what we get... and unless there's been a last minute change, we won't be getting stripes full stop. But we can hope...

That Nike Barcelona template from 2011 is 1) horrendous and 2) 3 years old.

Let's be honest whether it's a good looking kit will primarily come down to whether it's got a big aap3 sticker slapped across the front. All our shirts have looked fairly sh1t with that and Flybee dominating. The sash was brilliant largely due to the absence of such toss.

I disagree, you CAN ruin a good shirt with a bad advert (our Umbro flybe patch which didn't quite fit within the stripes being a classic example), but the aap3 one is ok, the red logo on the yellow shirt looks anaemic so I understand why the white surround, and it looks fine on plain red, white, and the 2011/12 striped shirt.

The sash would have been gash with a sponsor because unless it was a small sponsor it would have ruined the sash effect, but the black away kit that season looked rubbish precisely because it DIDN'T have a sponsor.

Now, the black away kit remains a personal favourite. I thought it was just right apart from the material which felt a bit cheap... like most of the Umbro kits we have had. The yellow kit, for me the aap3 logo is great on that one because it is so unobtrusive. In terms of fit and quality that's probably the best we have had over the last two years.

Agree with the small sponsors on the Sash kit. The 'Saints foundation' logos on there for those few game were absolutely fine.

My black kit (another one I didn't buy until they reduced it) is the only one which is notably in worse condition than when I bought it, thanks to SOMEONE tumble drying it... it now has some "perma-creases" in it and looks awful.

I liked the overall look of that kit, but the shirt itself looked like a crappy training top and really needed something on the front of it, even if it was just a hoop or something.
