Pointless Early 2013/14 Kit Speculation Thread

Recent update : Tadanari Lee will be wearing this adidas striped template :

But then Japanese styles very rarely get used in the west.

Still no word on who's going to be making next season's kit yet - I see Blackburn have signed up with Nike next season and Umbro are still making shirts for their existing clients (mostly in South America and Ireland) though.

There will be a reveal of all the 2013 MLS shirts in the next week or so, some of which are striped, so that will probably tie up all of the adidas options for 2013/14 if we end up with them.

I bought an Umbro Kit for my team last summer and have been ringing around trying to get replacement shorts socks etc. Spoke to a company yesterday who incidentally supply Saints and Forest academy. Guy tells me Forest have sacked Umbro off and are asking for Macron kit from them for next season as the Umbro thing is all up in the air.

Also told its not a done deal that there wont be any more Umbro kits. Was due to be an announcemt in Dec then Jan and now its next month. It looked like Nikewould do away with all Umbro teamkits but thats not necessarily the case anymore. So watch this space. Guy tells me suppliers and retailers are well ****ed off as they have loads of orders for umbro kit but just nothing about!

Not sure I'd like these (2012/13) Philadelphia Union templates much :

This Montreal home shirt shows the seams where the one adidas template panels go - the print pattern on the main shirt seems to be a "thing" for next season too.

The other (plain) 2013/14 adidas template shows where the other style's panels/pieces go :

Is there any difference apart from the sponsor?

Nope. I don't like AIR FLORIDA anything like as much as RANK XEROX though, the latter looks like a bit of effort went into their font. I think I actually prefer the RX one to the sponsorless one.

The second phili kit in red is the one.

The second phili kit in red is the one.

Think it's unlikely that if we went with adidas we'd be accepting a kit which is based on the same shirts West Brom, Stoke and Sunderland have this season, but there are plenty of ways of doing that with the 2013/14 templates too.

Umbro kits are only being made for the teams who have deals still in place as far as I can tell, which seems to be most of the Republic of Ireland's top division and a chunk of random south american clubs. Nike are almost certainly behind that fulfilment as they'd have taken on the existing contracts in 2007 (and even took over England and Man City's deals entirely as Nike).

However, as Nike don't own the Umbro name any more I'd be surprised if they can still produce Umbro Teamwear.

Portland Timbers' 2013/14 shirt shows what Saints might get from a new template using the old school Patrick-like kit (I think their away is actually red and white as well).

This is actually the mid-season "big V collar" template first seen with the Spain kit, with the sleeve panels as with the 2012/13 WBA/Stoke/Sunderland templates, but with the massive ugly V collar. Wouldn't look bad if they got rid of the weird "sawtooth/stitching" effect on the edge of stripes.

Updated - yes the away is red/white. This reversed with some black on it and no "sawtooth" would look quite decent.

Oh, and even though we almost certainly won't have Umbro shirts next season, they are still churning out the odd shirt for people with unexpired contracts.

Like Derry City (you can just about see the reverse of this season's Saints collar).

That w@nker on the left got SRL sent off last season.

I am aware of that, still can't believe he didn't get booked for dragging Lambert to the floor. But they had to choose two of Poyet's cheating mob from a bad bunch, and they couldn't use the entirely trustworthy Saint they have on loan as he might not be there next season.
