Saint Charlie Posted 19 December, 2012 Share Posted 19 December, 2012 (edited) Anyone sure of who from the other teams will be called up? We will lose Mayuka, bit of a blow but he isn't a regular first teamer so not as bad as if QPR lose Tarrabt - hope he gets called up as he will accept: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20782428 Shame Senegal didn't qualify or Newcastle would be in all kinds of trouble. Tiote will be missing though. Kebe could be missing for Reading if he is called up by Mali. Players going if selected: PREMIER LEAGUE Arsenal Emmanuel Frimpong, Daniel Jesse Boateng (Ghana), Gervinho (Ivory Coast), Marouane Chamakh (Morocco) Aston Villa Karim El Ahmadi (Morocco) Chelsea John Obi Mikel, Victor Moses (Nigeria), Bertrand Traore (Burkina Faso) Fulham Mahamadou Diarra (Mali) Liverpool Oussama Assaidi (Morocco) Manchester City Kolo Toure, Yaya Toure (Ivory Coast) Newcastle United Cheick Tiote (Ivory Coast) Queens Park Rangers Samba Diakite (Mali), Adel Taarabt (Morocco) Tottenham Hotspur Emmanuel Adebayor (Togo) West Bromwich Albion Peter Odemwingie (Nigeria) West Ham United Modibo Maiga (Mali), Guy Demel (Ivory Coast) Wigan Athletic Arouna Kone (Ivory Coast) Edited 19 December, 2012 by Saint Charlie
tajjuk Posted 19 December, 2012 Share Posted 19 December, 2012 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2217941/Africa-Cup-Nations--Premier-League-clubs-affected.html THE CLUBS THAT COULD BE AFFECTED NEXT YEAR PREMIER LEAGUE Arsenal Emmanuel Frimpong, Daniel Jesse Boateng (Ghana), Gervinho (Ivory Coast), Marouane Chamakh (Morocco) Aston Villa Karim El Ahmadi (Morocco) Chelsea John Obi Mikel, Victor Moses (Nigeria), Bertrand Traore (Burkina Faso) Fulham Mahamadou Diarra (Mali) Liverpool Oussama Assaidi (Morocco) Manchester City Kolo Toure, Yaya Toure (Ivory Coast) Newcastle United Cheick Tiote (Ivory Coast) Queens Park Rangers Samba Diakite (Mali), Adel Taarabt (Morocco) Tottenham Hotspur Emmanuel Adebayor (Togo) West Bromwich Albion Peter Odemwingie (Nigeria) West Ham United Modibo Maiga (Mali), Guy Demel (Ivory Coast) Wigan Athletic Arouna Kone (Ivory Coast) Really the big misseswith regards to relegation are Tiote for Newcastle and Taarabt and Diakite for QPR, maybe West Ham losing Demel and Maiga. stevegrant Posted 19 December, 2012 Share Posted 19 December, 2012 19th January to 10th February. I'd imagine the players will need to be released by clubs up to 2 weeks in advance, but then when a team is eliminated (potentially as early as 27th January), they'll immediately be available for their clubs again. Window Cleaner Posted 19 December, 2012 Share Posted 19 December, 2012 I think (could be wrong) that he may have retired. you're right, Everton probably made it a stipulation on resigning him that he didn't go hiking off back to Africa all of the time. Saint Garrett Posted 19 December, 2012 Share Posted 19 December, 2012 Talking about players missing....annoying that Fellaini will be back for our game against them, thought he deserved a longer ban than 3 games...
studentsaint Posted 19 December, 2012 Share Posted 19 December, 2012 I think QPR and Wigan will suffer most if they don't replace taarabt diakete and kone. We also play Wigan during that time.

Hate to say it, but I think Joey Barton has every right to feel aggrieved on this one. A clear headbutt, punch and elbow in three separate instances. Arguably worse than what Joey did, which was all one heat-of-the-moment thing. Marouane is a very, very lucky man in my opinion.

stevegrant Posted 19 December, 2012 Share Posted 19 December, 2012 Siphiwe Tshabalala currently plays for Kaizer Chiefs in SA. 'arry has asked Taarabt to not play but Taarabt wants to. From what I read, it wasn't that Taarabt particularly wants to go - he's not getting a game, so he'd just be sat on the bench for the whole time - but that if he didn't go he'd get a load of grief whenever he went back home on holiday. Hopefully after some recent displays the coach will phone him and tell him he is building the team around him. Would be a big blow to QPR to lose him. Flyer Posted 26 December, 2012 Share Posted 26 December, 2012 all your other world class signings..you know, the ones we never got as we got it all wrong...they will do the business for you..im sure We both got it wrong, Saints not strengthening the positions needed and spunking the money on a player you didnt need and QPR getting in too many old players. We will see what happens next month and ultimately the end of the season. Our biggest problem was Hughes, it took Harry 4 games to better Hughes points total in 13 or 14 games.
