Best Saints/Footy Related Twitter Feeds to Follow

Dig Dig

Recommended Posts

As per the title, who would you recommend following on Twitter for good Saints or general football related news and information.

Of course there are the official accounts to follow but any gems which are slightly under the radar or even the ones to avoid.

Thanks.

For Saints:

@solentsport - BBC Radio Solent Sport - decent Saints stuff

@bigadamsport - Adam Blackmore from Solent - often has some good info

@SimonPeach - posts on here, works for Press Assoc and has a line to Sibley

Football:

@henrywinter - Best Football Writer in the UK IMO

@OliverKayTimes - Close second

@GraemeBailey - Sky Website writer - good feed of news

One to Avoid:

@johncrossmirror - Writes for the Mirror (poorly) about Arsenal, basic knowledge of football, no knowledge of anything outside top 4 (and Arsenal).

Best Saint to Follow:

@JackCork1

Best Saints Fans:

@crstig

@dansfc

@mdig83

@duncanholley

Cheers for the info.

Not sure about Peach, he seems to be a bit of a vessel for the dark forces IMO.

Not sure what you mean. He is at most of the pressers so puts quotes from those on twitter which is handy.

Ultimately no journalist is ITK about Saints anymore because the club are tight with info. Peach is no different, he reports what is said by Adkins etc, but rarely gets a sniff of anything else, exactly like the Echo don't etc.

For me the only ones who have that little bit extra are Solent, I assume because the club chooses to feed them things every so often, and I know Adam Blackmore speaks to NC every so often - not aware any of the other Journalists ever do.

I think you will find Peach is reasonably close to Adkins. The other day I heard "a story" re Adkins and something that was said post the West Ham game. The info was slightly damning/worrying and so I ended up checking with Peach who was with Adkins, post the West ham game and he was able to put the story into proper context which portrayed Adkins words much more sympathetically.

He is close in that he interviews Adkins before and after games as part of the press conferences. The same Adkins who as we know gives little away unfortunately.

As he is a Saints fan he usually asks decent questions. There is a Scottish guy from Sky who has been at the PC's recently and is a complete tool - never asks about Saints, just Adkins job security and other issues in football, constantly looking to trip NA up.

What there isn't is a Journalist who finds out information that Saints do not themselves give out.

The dark forces comment was tongue in cheek. The last I saw from Peach on twitter was him questioning the integrity of Gazza's shoulder injury. If he is so close to Adkins, why would he do this?

I think he is closer than most - Adkins is aware he is a fan, I think he trusts him and I reckon he tells him things he wouldn't tell other less trusted journos. Trouble is, Peach can't then tell us, so it is all a bit pointless really. We all have to rely on gossip and rumour and read between peach's lines (which is why this forum flourishes).

The Saints players are much quieter this season. Last year Jos was very active as was Cork, Chaplow and De Ridder. Now barely a tweet from any of them apart from Chaplow. Orders from the club perhaps, or a conscious decision between the players after what happened to Lallana on there.

Jaidi is worth following. Sid Lowe too if you are interested in Spanish football.

Probably also that none of those players get in the team so have little to tweet about that is Saints related.

That sounds about right to me, I don't believe any of them have a good link to Adkins. Blackmore will freely tell you that he gets no more out of Adkins then what is intended, very little. Bearing in mind that Blackmore is one of the few decent people you bump into in that sort of position, I would be doubtful if others are coming away with bucket loads. Blackmore is very astute in reading Adkins body language but without a well aimed quip or gripe to accompany, it is unknown about the cause. A surprise source is Les Reid, though very occasionally things just get blurted out by accident, but not any in depth expose.
