Seaford Saint Posted 18 December, 2012 Share Posted 18 December, 2012  Which ones? There was a post on here a Good few months back where we were all asked to introduce ourselves. Lots and lots of posters responded to it and a clear message emerged....that many members don't bother responding any more. I am sure someone with more time than I have can enlighten you. tajjuk Posted 18 December, 2012 Share Posted 18 December, 2012 Knowing Reading as I do luck had nothing to do with their run last year.....Unless it was lucky they got us on the break lucky that Kebe outpaced our defence, lucky he provided a pin point cross, lucky that Roberts got to the ball ahead of Fonte and lucky his header was on target. The amount of drivel on this site staggers me sometimes and its no wonder the more reasoned posters just don't bother posting. This year however, Reading have been found out. This may have more to do with financial considerations above all else. They have an excellent Championship midfield which has been made to look poor in the Premiership. An aging Roberts about to turn 35 up front is no longer cutting it. Defensively they have been exposed too. Maybe they will invest in January, maybe they won't....more likely is that they will try and fail to attract players. I watched both the game against us and against Brighton and over the course of both games they were thoroughly outplayed in very department except finishing, they took their very few chances whilst us and Brighton didn't take ours and in the Brighton game they were very lucky. If you had played both those games again Reading would have been beaten 9 times out of 10. At the end of the day we were consistently good throughout last season with a few minor blips, reading were very good for about 6 months and poor before it, they are now showing their early season championship form and quality. Saint Charlie Posted 18 December, 2012 Share Posted 18 December, 2012 I like their routine when they do actually manage to score. Couple of claps then play the music. Great stuff

Guan 2.0 Posted 18 December, 2012 Share Posted 18 December, 2012 IMHO, Reading made the mistake of signing players to win the championship last season, with no great thought for the future. With what limited budget they had, they frittered it away on the likes of Roberts, who was no longer good enough for the Premier League, and had no resale value at 34. Some may argue we did the same with Billy Sharp, but we immediately loaned him out at the start of the season, and he is younger to boot. Same goes for Hammond, who struggled in the Championship, and both were replaced by better players. Reading have the same squad plus a few cast off and one tetchy mercenary
saint_bert Posted 18 December, 2012 Share Posted 18 December, 2012 Pavel Pogrebnyak will set a new record next season as the highest-paid player in Championship history, just edging out Nikola Zigic's £55k a week I may be wrong, but wasn't Colicinni (sp?) on 80k a week when Newcastle went down? jawillwill Posted 19 December, 2012 Share Posted 19 December, 2012 http://hobnob.royals.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=1 Very different to the ridiculous amount of gloating and arrogance shown late last season and throughout the summer. How did their "rush in and buy early" transfer policy work? This time last season Reading were 13 points behind us and ended the season ahead of us. I'm not saying that will definitely happen again, but football's a funny old game. Let's not get all smug and arrogant about them not being all sumg and arrogant just yet.... Exactly, far too much gloating going on when SFC is by no means certain of surviving itself. Of all the clubs out there we should need no reminding that Reading have a history of form over the 2nd half of the season. Hopefully the prem is a step too far for them but a lot of posters on here were pretty snooty about them this time last season and look what happened. September Saint Posted 21 December, 2012 Share Posted 21 December, 2012 Lets enjoy our time out of the relegation zone and not get to wound up by other clubs. We live in interesting times and will always do so.
