No future?

Agree that none of them are 1st 11 starters when we have an injury-free squad but several of them are adequate substitutes. I guess by getting rid of 10 or so (you missed some as well - DeRidder for starters and maybe one or 2 of the development squad possibly) we would free up some of the salary bill. Quality over quantity

Depends who we bring in to be fair and whether we stay up. 1 reason why we've not got rid of Sharp/Hammond permamently, is because of the possibility that we might go down IMO. If we bring in 5 players better than what we have in January (not going to happen but...) then we'll probably see quite a few of these moved on. Let's not forget that there has to be someone who wants these players for them to go as they're still in contract. And quite a few of them are probably on a pretty hefty wage compared to their ability...

If you want to be an established Prem side then none of them are really good enough, even for the bench which is why most of them can't even make that.

I think the likes of Hooiveld, De Ridder and possible Chaplow will be loaned out in January. Chaplow is out of contract in June so he may well be given a free transfer earlier. I am hopeful NA,NC and LR are actively working on transfers now so we can hit the ground running at the start of January rather than leaving it until end of the window and risk being cut a drift especially if we get injuries to key players which is pretty much the starting 11 based on the lack of quality on the bench and in squad.

I would like to see a CB, LB, DM, and Winger (left).

Not no future, no, but not first teamers. All can be improved upon, and if we stay in this division, all WILL be improved upon over time.

To add to that, should we get relegated this season (touch wood), then that list in the OP will probably form the basis of our Championship team next season! I can see people interested in most of our first teamers if we do go down.

Some people still do not realise that this club expects contracts to be honoured and it works both ways. Plus side - we keep JWP, Shaw and Lallana. Plus side - players more likely to sign for us knowing that we will honour their contracts to the end of the term (unless they see a better chance of regular football elsewhere).

I can see all those in bold being perfectly capable squad players in the Prem for another year or so. The others are going to stay on the payroll until their contracts run out as there's no way any of them will get paid more in the nPC or League One than they are getting now, due to their promotion bonuses.

You also left Steve de Ridder off that list - and Tadanari Lee... and Puncheon... :)

Most of them could manage a decent Prem run with the right players around them.

All clubs honour contracts until the end of the term - except Portsmouth of course. Why would any player be swayed by the likelihood having a contract honoured ? EVERYONE does it, and all it means is that we're overpaying a lot of people who aren't up to our current standard to do nothing. When players leave before their contract ends it's almost always because they will get more money elsewhere. The only loyalty is to adhering to the law of the land.

Hell, even when Wotton agreed to a mutual termination it was so he could get a 18 month deal at Yeovil which paid more than the 6 months left of his Saints contract.
