A weekend off, where will we be at the end of it?

Got to love MLG justifying our players bottling it at Anfield because Villa were rubbish at St Mary's in September. Brilliant logic.

I haven't done that at all, you have twisted my words completely ffs.

Well i thought we would draw vs Sunderland next week, however if fletcher is out it helps us our cause means we only have to mark one quality striker surely that cant be too hard for our defence lol.

QPR will now go on a great run after xmas, i feel only team really down is Reading, Arsenal will not lose there on monday and they wont buy loads in jan.

Us QPR Wigan Sunderland Villa are all fighting for safety and to be honest if its still true about ML family supporting us we should out of all of them have the money to buy the extra 2-3 players we need to push away from bottom 3 and get the extra 25 points needed to stay up by April.

Hang on a minute. I made an observation about the difference between us and Villa, how our captiain admitted we got stage fright and you started going on about Villas performance at st Mary's. Why are you linking the two if that wasnt your intention?

Posted

Mixed bag I think. Would have liked a draw for QPR and Fulham and obviously Liverpool haven't done us any favours but Sunderland and Newcastle endured a pretty miserable afternoon. Let's hope Fletcher isn't fit for next weekend.

Turkish is like a 15 year old arguing that because his team beat Man C, it makes them the best in England. Villa were poor at SMS, we were poor at Anfield. Norwich were great against Man Utd and beat them, does that make our point against them a great one, does if you follow Turkish's logic.

I'm surprised anyone with such a child like view of football posts on a grown up forum.

Posted
Turkish, are you a girl, or do you just act like a b i t c h?

I don't see what people problem is with my observation. A team below has just won comfortably on a ground where our captain admitted we were starstruck only 2 weeks ago. Bury your head in the sands if you like but this is worrying.

More bollo*cks as usual because someone dare to say anything isn't amazing connected with SFC.

It's not so much the performance, every team has an off day. It's the admission by our captain that we were overawed by the occasion.

Listening to Matty Holland and Crooks then Liverpool could and should have been at least 3 up inside 20 minutes, it was one-way traffic even after a the first two from Villa. These things happen....it's football.

So what if we were, a lot of teams do now and then (show too much respect). Hopefully we're learn from it and not show too much respect moving forward.

No it's not. This is either a wind up (boring) or a very simplified (idiotic) observation.

Idiotic?. How so? here are our captains comments if you missed them.

Despite being lucky enough to play at Anfield themselves, Villa, who were below us, managed to find it from somewhere to score 3 goals and not be so filled with wonder at the sight of The Kop they forgot they had a job to do.

Yes, an idiotic observation.

You keep mentioning this, but he said no such thing in this interview...

So which interview are you talking about? Have you made it up or dreamt it perhaps?

Bingo.

It's 2 of the most tedious people on the internet having a pointless argument about something Turkish pretends not to understand. There is no need for other people to join in.

Agree with Turks on this one. Fine everyone has on and off days; but we went to Anfield with a defeatist mindset; Villa played without fear -that's as, if not more impressive than the result.

For all our good run, we haven't really shown we can go away from home and hold our own (QPR isnt proof of anything). Building on their good result in the cup, Villa are.

Did you see the game, you arse? Somtimes football is a very random game. Liverpool could have won it easily today, and we could have snatched a draw when we played them.

See my post above.

'the occasion got to us'

'we showed them too much respect'

' we didn't believe in our own ability as much as we should have'

Oh dear.

I get the point he was making.

Adkins has mentioned how special anfield is countless times, we had Rickie going on about how amaZing Liverpool are and how he went to watch them beat Cardiff...

We has Morgan telling us how he supported Liverpool as a kid

We played utterly terrible and of course, it was another game written off by those on here

We are going to have to pick up more points on the road. Going to anfield and showing zero fight was pretty poor

Then again, we are pretty poor

And now you've resorted to abuse. Oh dear. Sure sign youre losing the arguement.

To a point I agree with Turkish, that it does put our result, tactics and performance at Anfield into some perspective.

i think it is actually a broader issue of being gash away from home rather than stage-struck to be honest.

Anf then our captain admitting after some of them were overawed.

Fine, we'll lose, we'll play badly. It happens. What isn't fine is being star struck playing away at a midtable side that were good once.

So when did that interview happen? Looks to me like the Echo merely lifted quotes from the Solent interview on Saints Player, put words into Adam's mouth he didn't say and twisted it to fit their headline.

Seems you're basing that on the result not the performance, according to those that watched the game.

The fellas watching it on soccerball Saturday said they played very well. So what's your point?

Posted

The fact they scored 3 makes their performance miles better than ours.

Even if they scored 1 would have been a massive improvement

We made the worst Liverpool team in a decades look like title contenders

Our margin for error in gaining points away is getting smaller and smaller

I watched some of it- villa defended deeply and got quite a few last ditch tackles in but they counter attacked with much more purpose and poise than we did. We looked clueless and overawed whenever we had the ball, notwithstanding a small improvement in the second half.

Posted
I wouldn't be surprised. Would Redknapp still be a terrible clueless manager who bankrupts clubs then?

While everyone assumes reading are gone

They have to play at home...

Saints

Sunderland

Villa

Wigan

QPR

The complete opposite to us

Posted
Hmmm, not too sure, depends on January IMO and if they reinforce.

If they get a result at Newcastle next week which isn't beyond the realms of possibility given their form, it brings them right back Inn touching distance and drags Newcastle right into it.

Really? Of the four fixtures that ****flaps has been in charge of from memory they haven't played any of the top teams.

Yep.

As have said

Our away form is a complete joke

We are above the bottom 3 on goal difference despite have an amazing run of home fixtures... But of a let down really.

The keeper situation with gaZza has cost us massively

So did Norwich. They are currently 7th.

You can't make comparisons like this. Different teams perform differently on different days. If you replayed all our matches, putting out exactly the same teams in the same formation, do you think all the results would be the same? We would probably beat Wigan at home 3-0, draw at QPR and get spanked 4-0 at Man City. That's just the random nature of football, you can't compare one result from one team in one fixture. It's a meaningless statistic, like rolling a dice once, rolling a 4 and concluding that if you roll a dice you will get a 4.

Posted

Indeed

But with our pathetic away form

We have out massive pressure on getting points.

Given that away to anyone remotely average is written off. We have no margin for error really

Posted

We also have to play 7 of the bottom 10 away, I'm sure we'll pick up points from these games. Provided we don't get stage fright again of course.

Posted

We weren't overawed at Anfield we were just crap. Struggled to play a high pressing game because Liverpool have an extra player at the back, Reina, probably the best keeper in the PL.

That's not what our captain said.

Did you miss post #75 Turkish? Or convenient to overlook it?

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realise I had to reply to your every post. Especially when I've already responded in other posts.

'the occasion got to us'

That on its own is compelling evidence is it not?
