Frank Lampard

Imo he would be a great rolemodel for our young team. But maybe that's just me, that's the reason as to why I think we should go for him and why I started this thread.

I think the club have made it more than clear that the plan since the takeover (apart from the initial rebuild of the team by AP), has been to build a team for the future with young, 'hungry' lads, who's monetary value will increase as time goes by.

Why would we want a proven quality player who has still easily got a few years left in him at this level?

I'd much rather we sign an unproven 20 year old from Watford or something instead. It's all about the future.

(I'm fully aware this is all irrelevant as there is no way in a million years he could come here)

Exactly why it's laughable!

All the old boys we don't want and highly players we'll never get, this forum is very amusing.

And exactly why do you and the Andover Lemon think us signing Frank Lampard is laughable?

Alan Ball, Kevin Keegan, Peter Osgood. All players who have joined Southampton in the past. Yet you and your little band of sneerers continue to try and belittle this fanatic soccerball club. There is every chance he would be up for the challenge of joining us and the more optimistic and intelligent posters like myself and Wes Ender understand that top players will find Southampton a very attractive proposition and if you don't understand why, maybe you should ask Kevin Keegan.

You should make a bet with him. If Frank Lampard joins us he will have to buy you a designer shirt and matching shoes of your choice.

A thirty four year old, we do not want. Would he take the place of Morgan or Jack, don't think so. Adam or Gaston again no, unless injured. He would not walk straight into the team, and for me should not. Why pay a squad player at best, well past his time, this would not be showing intent but stupidity. We have Ward Prowse on the sidelines to cover. Definitely a NO from this pundit.

Personally for what he could bring to the dressing room in terms of experience, I'd take him. Doubt it'd happen but I'd just like to know when the point in our history was that the notion of a CL winning player of just six coming months ago coming to us, changed to be met with such derision amongst our fans.

Watson, Mills, Worthington, Case, Channon, Ball, Keegan et al were all 30+ or thereabouts when we signed them. Marsden was 30 if you want a later one. Have things really changed that much that class and experience are ejected in favour of this Southampton Way that NC espouses and the majority on it here seem to follow?

It just seems a bit weird given how well treated players are nowadays thus prolonging top class careers.

IMO the only thing that would or should be holding back SFC interest is FL's wages.

Don't think he'll go to QPR. either MLS or if he stays in England I reckon a return to West Ham

after watching Redknapp's antics at various clubs when it comes to signing big name players, on even bigger salaries - expect him to try for Frank.

If he can bring his own son to SFC when he was almost crippled, he could certainly persuade his chairman to sign his own nephew........
