Zlavik Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Chelsea won't renew his contract. Should we go for him?
VectisSaint Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 I'm sure Frank's uncle would put in a good word for us.
Kingsland Red Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 I can see Frank doing a 'jobs for the boys' 20 minute cameo role, and then staying on the field for the remaining 70 minutes, from January for QPR as they go down in a 'groundhog day' season for Uncle Saggy Chops.
Colinjb Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 No, just no. He'll join Uncle 'Arry at QPR for a final pay day.
SaintRobbie Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 No, just no. He'll join Uncle 'Arry at QPR for a final pay day. My thoughts exactly
SNSUN Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 I was waiting for this thread to appear. No, and no to David Beckham while we're at it.
wild-saint Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 really no? id take him in a heartbeat. i

Zlavik Posted 14 December, 2012 Author Posted 14 December, 2012 Imo he would be a great rolemodel for our young team. But maybe that's just me, that's the reason as to why I think we should go for him and why I started this thread.
THEVMAN Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Frank Lampard,David Beckham,Michael Owen,theirs a team for the future.
RonManager Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Imo he would be a great rolemodel for our young team. But maybe that's just me, that's the reason as to why I think we should go for him and why I started this thread. I think the club have made it more than clear that the plan since the takeover (apart from the initial rebuild of the team by AP), has been to build a team for the future with young, 'hungry' lads, who's monetary value will increase as time goes by.
Stu Man Do Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Personally wouldn't mind this if his wages weren't the no doubt silly levels. Could do a good job still and as someone else said role model for the younger midfielders. Never going to happen though!
Secret Site Agent Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Frank Lampard,David Beckham,Michael Owen, theirs a team for the future. Scholes, Griggs, as well, you don't win nothing with Old Men:lol:
wightman35 Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Didn't Frank leave West Ham for Chelsea because Uncle Harry got the sack? I'd guess a QPR move if he stays in England.
Patrick Bateman Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Friedel Neville Upson Carragher Cole Beckham Lampard Scholes Giggs Owen Drogba I think all those players have been seriously mentioned at one point this year ... what a team that would be (Disclaimer: I would take Friedel)
Patrick Bateman Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Sorry, I didn't mean Scholes, I meant the Man City crock, what's his name ... ?!? Hargreaves, that's who I meant! Friedel Neville Upson Carragher Cole Beckham Lampard Hargreaves Giggs Owen Drogba
This Charming Man Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Why would we want a proven quality player who has still easily got a few years left in him at this level? I'd much rather we sign an unproven 20 year old from Watford or something instead. It's all about the future. (I'm fully aware this is all irrelevant as there is no way in a million years he could come here)

All the old boys we don't want and highly players we'll never get, this forum is very amusing.
Turkish Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Exactly why it's laughable! All the old boys we don't want and highly players we'll never get, this forum is very amusing. And exactly why do you and the Andover Lemon think us signing Frank Lampard is laughable? Alan Ball, Kevin Keegan, Peter Osgood. All players who have joined Southampton in the past. Yet you and your little band of sneerers continue to try and belittle this fanatic soccerball club. There is every chance he would be up for the challenge of joining us and the more optimistic and intelligent posters like myself and Wes Ender understand that top players will find Southampton a very attractive proposition and if you don't understand why, maybe you should ask Kevin Keegan.

You should make a bet with him. If Frank Lampard joins us he will have to buy you a designer shirt and matching shoes of your choice.
Turkish Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 You should make a bet with him. If Frank Lampard joins us he will have to buy you a designer shirt and matching shoes of your choice. Does trunky want a bun?
Colinjb Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Does trunky want a bun? Oh, excuse me, I thought this was a public forum. As a man of your conviction i'm sure you wouldn't shirk from such a challenge.
Turkish Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Oh, excuse me, I thought this was a public forum. As a man of your conviction i'm sure you wouldn't shirk from such a challenge. So am I too assume you do not think Frank Lampard would join us?
Colinjb Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 So am I too assume you do not think Frank Lampard would join us? Stranger things could happen, but I doubt he would join us over his more obvious family connections and a possibility of staying in London.
Turkish Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Stranger things could happen, but I doubt he would join us over his more obvious family connections and a possibility of staying in London. And why would he join a team destined for relegation when he could help drive our champions league push?
Thedelldays Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Stranger things could happen, but I doubt he would join us over his more obvious family connections and a possibility of staying in London. And the fact we won't pay £100k a week
Colinjb Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 And the fact we won't pay £100k a week Absolutely.

Turkish Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 And the fact we won't pay £100k a week He might accept less to be part of the challenge and shares the chairmans vision.
Thedelldays Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 He might accept less to be part of the challenge and shares the chairmans vision. and to get his kids into Cantell School
Turkish Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 and to get his kids into Cantell School I Suggest Cortese shows him the plans of what they are doing to the Bargate and city walls. Christine Brinkey will love walking round that on an autumn afternoon.
Restark19 Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Don't think he'll go to QPR. either MLS or if he stays in England I reckon a return to West Ham
Saint Scott Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 I'd take lampard in a heartbeat! Still a class act and guaranteed goals from midfield. However, his wages would be enormous and far too much for us.
Turkish Posted 15 December, 2012 Posted 15 December, 2012 I'd take lampard in a heartbeat! Still a class act and guaranteed goals from midfield. However, his wages would be enormous and far too much for us. Interesting. You have access to our wage budget? Please share it.
Hedgehog Posted 15 December, 2012 Posted 15 December, 2012 A thirty four year old, we do not want. Would he take the place of Morgan or Jack, don't think so. Adam or Gaston again no, unless injured. He would not walk straight into the team, and for me should not. Why pay a squad player at best, well past his time, this would not be showing intent but stupidity. We have Ward Prowse on the sidelines to cover. Definitely a NO from this pundit.
Saint Scott Posted 15 December, 2012 Posted 15 December, 2012 Interesting. You have access to our wage budget? Please share it. Common sense Turkish. He is clearly on in excess of £100k a week.
theyin Posted 15 December, 2012 Posted 15 December, 2012 (edited) Personally for what he could bring to the dressing room in terms of experience, I'd take him. Doubt it'd happen but I'd just like to know when the point in our history was that the notion of a CL winning player of just six coming months ago coming to us, changed to be met with such derision amongst our fans. Watson, Mills, Worthington, Case, Channon, Ball, Keegan et al were all 30+ or thereabouts when we signed them. Marsden was 30 if you want a later one. Have things really changed that much that class and experience are ejected in favour of this Southampton Way that NC espouses and the majority on it here seem to follow? It just seems a bit weird given how well treated players are nowadays thus prolonging top class careers. IMO the only thing that would or should be holding back SFC interest is FL's wages. david in sweden Posted 15 December, 2012 Posted 15 December, 2012 Don't think he'll go to QPR. either MLS or if he stays in England I reckon a return to West Ham after watching Redknapp's antics at various clubs when it comes to signing big name players, on even bigger salaries - expect him to try for Frank. If he can bring his own son to SFC when he was almost crippled, he could certainly persuade his chairman to sign his own nephew........
Turkish Posted 15 December, 2012 Posted 15 December, 2012 Common sense Turkish. He is clearly on in excess of £100k a week. Have you seen his contract?
skintsaint Posted 15 December, 2012 Posted 15 December, 2012 Get Lampard in, Terry too....and get Drogba back from China. Have the spine of the Chelsea CL winning team...oh and whats Di Matteo upto these days? I know JT didnt play but he had the kit on...
John Boy Saint Posted 15 December, 2012 Posted 15 December, 2012 Blimey getting him in would be the kingpin to getting his old mucker John Terry to follow then all of our defensive worries would be solved in an instant.
