Dangermouth Posted 13 December, 2012 Share Posted 13 December, 2012 And it also doesn't take into account all the other good work RL does.
westofshannonsaint Posted 13 December, 2012 Share Posted 13 December, 2012 Interesting read, does not include info about assists & overall work rate though (i'd presume that SRL would finish top of that list too). However, (if anyone didn't already know) a quick look at the league table tells me that scoring goals is not our problem. The Attack Table has us in 10th place & we are dead last in the Defence Table. We are improving though. Looking at the form table, were in 7th place & have only conceded 4 goals in the last 6 games. The only tighter defence over the last 6 is Stoke who have let in 2. I find this surprising and encouraging
pingwing Posted 13 December, 2012 Share Posted 13 December, 2012 The big chance economy graph is brilliant!
tajjuk Posted 14 December, 2012 Share Posted 14 December, 2012 What defines a big chance? Basically shows that Lambert is good and would score more at a better team, and confirms my assesment that Arouna Kone is sh*t after DPS argued wtih me that he would have been a good signing for us

shurlock Posted 14 December, 2012 Share Posted 14 December, 2012 Arguably the stats are a bit padded. If there's a criticism of SRL, its that he's not greedy or instinctive enough. Will often try to work extra space or want extra time to get a shot off, leading to things breaking down. Would rather he get a shot off early and miss than be seen as 'efficient'. That's where Punch has made a difference - despite having a history of putting the ball in row Z.

sandwichsaint Posted 14 December, 2012 Share Posted 14 December, 2012 He missed some very good chances against Fulham, Spurs and West Brom. and Norwich too. I'm surprised his %ges are as high as they are. That's not a criticism, his all-round play has been excellent and he is obviously a key player for us. But I would imagine the chances that he's had he must be disappointed to be on 6 at this stage, we have played a lot of attacking football and created a lot of chances (we haven't had many penalties either! 1?), as long as somebody scores it doesn't really matter but it wouldn't take much for him to go on a bit of a run and he could still get to 16-20 for the season. This Charming Man Posted 14 December, 2012 Share Posted 14 December, 2012 The most important stat out of all of them for a striker is that Lambert has scored the most goals. As long as you're top of that list, that's all that matters.

As long as you're top of that list, that's all that matters. Our League position suggests that's not true. As for the stats themselves, a mate linked them on FB, as I said to him : Doesn't tell you how many chances they create for others, or where their efforts were from, and the bewildering omission of Stephen Fletcher altogether means there's a chance to make some legitimate points missed. Interesting to see Kone's low conversion rate, but against Saints he created his own goal from nothing without anyone else within 30 yards, when has Lambert ever done that? Just the one against Villa, I think. He could also get injured or just stop scoring and stick on 6. I'm still not overly convinced he'll get 10, but at least the teams he has scored against are coming back around again soon... Man City, Man Utd etc.
