Georgie Posted 13 December, 2012 Posted 13 December, 2012 I was there too. Wasn't it against Leicester? Finished 2-1 to us I think
InvictaSaint Posted 13 December, 2012 Posted 13 December, 2012 Will always remember watching his header from that free kick. Seemed to take an age to drop into the net!
Sheaf Saint Posted 13 December, 2012 Posted 13 December, 2012 I was listening on Solent (before the days of live commentary and they would interrupt the music with that jingle that made you sh1t yourself in anticipation of which way the goal had gone!) and I honestly thought Grant Coleman had made a mistake when he announced the goalscorer.
beatlesaint Posted 13 December, 2012 Posted 13 December, 2012 I was there and it was my birthday Still is actually A wonderful memory, and the split second of silence seemed to last a lot longer when the ball hit the net !
Kingsland Red Posted 13 December, 2012 Posted 13 December, 2012 I was there and it was Kingsland Red Junior's first trip to The Dell (aged seven). I had to explain that it wasn't a regular occurrence, hence the massive celebrations !
paulwantsapint Posted 13 December, 2012 Posted 13 December, 2012 'Lets all have a curry' echoed all around the dell What went mlt's head to pick out franny the man who never scored?
This Charming Man Posted 13 December, 2012 Posted 13 December, 2012 We'll be saying the same thing about Jack Cork in 15 years. Actually, that's probably wishful thinking.
Ziggy Posted 13 December, 2012 Posted 13 December, 2012 I was driving to a wedding in Leicester and nearly crashed when he scored. I was in smug mode all day!
LeBenali Posted 13 December, 2012 Posted 13 December, 2012 Even as a 10 year old I managed to realise the significance of that goal, can still remember it like it was yesterday.
The Cat Posted 13 December, 2012 Posted 13 December, 2012 Cork didn't score when we had him on loan either. Must have played 75 odd games for us, mostly in midfield with 0 goals.
The Cat Posted 13 December, 2012 Posted 13 December, 2012 I was in the Archers. Ball seemed to hang in the air for ages. Cue utter bedlam and mass disbelief.

benjii Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 'Lets all have a curry' echoed all around the dell What went mlt's head to pick out franny the man who never scored? I was in the lower East Stand, near the away section. As everyone was getting into position for the free-kick my mate tapped me on the arm and said, "Franny's free at the back-post". We both laughed and said there's no way the ball will be going to that area then. What a great header though! [video=youtube;qodg-csJI8Y]
Saint Without a Halo Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 I was there and it was my birthday Still is actually A wonderful memory, and the split second of silence seemed to last a lot longer when the ball hit the net ! I was there too and it was and still is my birthday too! Snap
Turkish Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 I was there too and it was and still is my birthday too! Snap I was there but it wasn't my birthday and still isn't.
Dimond Geezer Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 He also scored an absolute belter from outside of the box in a testimonial match (it may have been his own).
This Charming Man Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 He also scored an absolute belter from outside of the box in a testimonial match (it may have been his own). Was that the one where Dave Beasant ran the length of the field with the ball up his shirt whilst his team mates blocked the opposition NFL style?
Minty Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 1:34 on here... [video=youtube_share;iXOdV0cBtVI]
simondo Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 I was in the Archers. Ball seemed to hang in the air for ages. Cue utter bedlam and mass disbelief. This - and i indeed, i did have a curry..!
Bucks Saint Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 15 years ago - wow. I still cant work out if the ball did indeed hang in the air for ages, or was it just that the total and utter disbelief swamped all of us that day , and time actually stopped for a second or two?
Dimond Geezer Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Was that the one where Dave Beasant ran the length of the field with the ball up his shirt whilst his team mates blocked the opposition NFL style? Could've been, but I don't remember it being contrived. My recolection is a 25yd rocket & wondering why he couldn't do it in a real match. I may have been drinking though.
Monkou Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Was behind the goal in the Milton Road end. Can't beleive its 15 years, feels like longer ago than that. Remember my dad saying after the game that he thought it would be the first goal of many...
david in sweden Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 why hasn't Parliament declared it to be a Public Holiday then ?
Miffy Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 I was there too. Milton Road End. It really did seem to take an age to hit the net. 15 years ago wow!

humber Posted 15 December, 2012 Posted 15 December, 2012 I used to do commentary for my Dad when solent were not covering our game, he was blind. I told him that Franny had his arm up at the far post we both started to laugh. Great memory Thanks.

Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 16 December, 2012 Posted 16 December, 2012 I was there, being in junior saints at the time was right behind it - a fantastic header.
