Ashley Grute Posted 13 December, 2012 Posted 13 December, 2012 Who is the player we have produced by Luton?
buctootim Posted 13 December, 2012 Posted 13 December, 2012 (edited) They've used the wrong dataset imo. Spending three years developing players between the ages of 15 and 21 means for example that Spurs can claim Bale or Arsenal Theo. Would be more meaningful to have a table based on an age group say 12-18 - genuinely developing young players rather than simply buying an established hot prospect. mdearlove Posted 13 December, 2012 Author Posted 13 December, 2012 I think both Bale and Theo are our Primary players, and secondary for Spuds/Arse
DrunkenSaint Posted 13 December, 2012 Posted 13 December, 2012 I thought Arsenal buy all their youngsters from other clubs, really cant see them being that high. I think they have got all the facts wrong, don't think they have looked if they have produced them or bought them, we would be alot higher up in the euro league than most of the uk teams infact you'll probably see a lot of lower league teams on that list if it was players produced but Barca would still be top i reckon.
tajjuk Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Data is a bit odd because Bilbao are 14th, yet they only play basque players so almost all of their come through their academy and they have sold players to other clubs. Yet it puts them behind Arsenal? It also credits Paul pogba as a utd product? So it is essentially counting players who have been nicked from other academys, so you could have a player at 18 and then train him to 21 and that counts as developed.
sammysaint Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Were be much higher in 2-3 seasons time, Shaw and JWP will be on that list but hopefully there be with us and were be counted as a top elite club by then lol.
sandwichsaint Posted 14 December, 2012 Posted 14 December, 2012 Yep, what we're really saying is that somebody needs to look at all the regular starters in the top 5 leages in Europe and work out where they spent their time between the ages of 12-18, one point per year, and a bonus 3 points if they played for the majority developer's first team in a comp match before the age of 18. When somebody has run that one we'll be able to see that Saints will probably move up the table a little bit further and be in the top half dozen producer clubs in the country, and in top 20-ish in Europe. Bale, Walcott, Chamberlaine, Shaw, JWP; Saints academy, the gift that keeps on giving! Nice.
