Why do they need to be "big and bruising"? Schneirderlin is the top tackler in the top 5 European leagues, he isn't exactly huge and with Cork the pair break up the opponents attacks well. Any new central midfielder would stunt the development of Ward-Prowse, I think Cork and Schneiderlin with Davis and Ward-Prowse as cover is enough for the rest of the season.

Fair enough. I just think we need that type of player for the times when Plan A does not work. And by big and bruising I simply mean a Fellaini type, if that were realistic.

Fellaini is an offensive player (in more sense than one), if you sign someone like him he'd have to be better than Punch, Gaston and Adam. As long as you CMs recover the ball, relay it forward however you've asked them to and protect the defence they're doing their job. There are few players of this type better than Morgan and Jack so you need to be careful what you sign. In fact were I to believe that we were genuinely looking at CMs then I'd think one of ours was on his way out.

Calciomercato yesterday were still musing on the possibility of Zarate from Lazio: there have been a few issues between club and player and

"given these suppositions a transfer of Zarate to Southampton doesn't seem impossible'.

Hmm, 2+2=5, I feel. Not impossible but...

Fox could be leaving apparantly with a couple of Championship teams interested in him.

Personally I think that would be foolish unless another LB was to come in.

Chat on that on the Fox thread. I think we should keep him

Agreed!!
