The transfer window has slammed shut in Southampton, Pochettino has just said in this afternoons press conference that he hasn't had time to think about new signings and is very happy with the squad as it is. That'll upset the needy bedwetters on here. Move along, nothing to see here.

He said similar on the day he was announced as manager, mere hours later Vegard Forren signed.

But did they ask Les Reed? :)

from there ever reliable rumour site....

Southampton look to attempt to hijack a deal for Tom Ince from relegation rivals Reading, Cortese is going to try and persuade Ince that Southampton is the better option with their league points tally and their ambitions for the future. Bid believed to be 5m with 2m add ons depending on League and International apperances and a 10% sale on clause

Southampton also hopeful of signing biglia

This has to be the worse ever Transfer Window in all the 60 year I've followed Saints. Not only have we lost the best ever, decent and loyal manager we ever employed but we go into the last part of the season with the likes of Steven de Ridder very much part of the new manager's plans. We could have at least hoped that Reed would have enured we got shot of all the uninterested and incapable dregs still on the books Disgusted at all the talk and no action. :(

Cheer up ART.:) How do you know there's no action ?..........you know Cortese's methods by now. Wait till the ink's dry on the contract before revealing anything. Come back again Thursday morning.

First the transfer window is a recent invention, not something that's been around 6o years. Second, the windows not closed. Most deals happen at the last minute. And third ... Best ever? Really?? Much as I'm dismayed at his dismissal, I think bates, lawrie mac and probably WGS would rank marginally higher.

And some people think modern football fans have unrealistic views and opinions ... :)

I'd like to see us get another big bruising defensive midfielder to break up play occasionally, and as back up for when injuries strike people like Cork (as they will).

Would also like to see another CB as cover for the same reason. Sorry. Greedy.

Why do they need to be "big and bruising"? Schneirderlin is the top tackler in the top 5 European leagues, he isn't exactly huge and with Cork the pair break up the opponents attacks well. Any new central midfielder would stunt the development of Ward-Prowse, I think Cork and Schneiderlin with Davis and Ward-Prowse as cover is enough for the rest of the season.

Debatable IMO. A good first team yes but if we had to rely on quite a few of our squad then I would be worried.

I do agree with this to an extent but I think people forget that we have picked up a decent amount of points using our squad recently.

There is only so long that people can say that Jos isn't good as back up when he's actually done a pretty decent job (as an example, Guly is another)

I think we can contain with our existing squad, can't really change a game with it though. That's where we need improvement.

How on Earth would he get a work permit?

"

Milan are watching Colon’s midfielder Lucas Andres Mugni.

Mugni has been likened to Juan Roman Riquelme and the Italian giant watched him in action last week against Racing Club.

The 20-year-old, who carries a Spanish passport, was discovered by Nestor Sensini and has also worked closely with Gabriel Batistuta.

...

The left footed ace has appeared in 34 Colon matches and scored 5 goals the previous season."

Could make a bit of sense re: the Riquelme rumours we had on here last week. Press get wires crossed, get confused, put 2+2 together....and completely miss the point.

Watch us pull this one out of left field.
