They are not getting it wrong. They release players because they are crap. sometimes it is the kick up the backside some of them need to get their careers back on track. There are dozens of Kevin Phillips and Dennis Wise types about. Who would have thought Gary Monk would be regular in the Premiership? Even Nathan Dyer has lifted himself up since leaving.

comoli was on talksport earlier and they asked him about this...

he said that they offered him 5 contracts and would have made him one of the highest paid players in the country not in anyones 25 man squad.

they also offered to have in the contract that if he never made a certain amount of first team appearances by a certain date, he would be able to move the NPC for a 12 month loan....

 

camoli said his dad was the driving force behind tom getting a permanent move...due to his age, with his contract up..they would get a fee..they had offers from abroad and in the prem....but nothing where he would be guaranteed first team football....until blackpool enquired....it was then that liverpool did a deal for charlie adam...got £££ knocked off the price for adam and had a very large sell on clause in toms contract at blackpool..

 

basically, the best deal blackpool could do is with liverpool due to the high contract sell on clause....

a former junior who scored a hatful of goals for the Reserves with the incredibly patriotic name of Craig DELL Maskell (no he didn't sell computers) but his name was right for the club.´

 

started getting games in the wake of McMenemy's departure but never impressed Chris Nicholl enough to keep him and he was sold to Huddersfield for £50K....when he later moved onto Reading for £250K (Saints got another £100K as % of the sell-on). He returned to The Dell (via a spell with Swindon) for a fee something around £300 K ?(unsure) ....when Alan Ball took over in 1994 and although he scored on his first app. (a 4-2 win v. Liverpool when MLT got a hat-trick) but he never made it back as a regular competing against Maddison, Shipperley, Heaney and Watson ..and at a time when MLT hit his best form.
