Buy Pompey for £1

That's right, you can own your rivals club for just £1.

PORTSMOUTH owner Alexandre Gaydamak is so desperate to offload the cash-strapped south coast club he is offering to sell his shares — for a POUND.

Gaydamak has instructed his solicitors to tout the FA Cup holders to venture capitalists in the City after failing to find a buyer through the usual channels.

Brilliant ...

Will Pompey be the first club to be sold for a pound TWICE ????

Cue Corp , 'don't believe what you read in the papers , my sources say we are about to be taken over by a Chinese/Arab/South African/Norwegian/Fiijan consortium' , two weeks from today/yesterday/last week '

Outstanding!

Losing 1 million pounds per month. You would have to be clinically insane to buy that club! Who was the last club to have debt and loses of this sort? Oh yes. Leeds United.

Even taking assetts into account, it's only worth 50 million! Portsmouth Football Club is worth a grand total of -45 million pounds.

What a wonderful, wonderful weekend.

It's tempting... Buy PFC for £1 and sell FP for UNaffordable housing. Only bummer would be the £95m in debt. :-k

Maybe if an already suicidal Saints fan (there's got to be a few about) did it, then topped themselves, it wouldn't be a problem.

Looks like Gaydamak is trying to turn them into the Gretna of the South.

But it's still fun to laugh about it in the meantime!

Well.. true. But what about if it is a load of rubbish, and that Pompey are on their way to an eventual new stadium, and a better future..? Wouldn't you just feel worse..? Especially as the crowd from down the other end of the M27 would come on here and gloat, wall to wall.

No.. I can wait for confirmation from elsewhere.

There's another club much closer than the Skates who we should be worrying about, as much as I enjoy the schadenfreude of seeing them, hopefully, in a worse state than us!

Peeps, do remember that this is The News OF The World. If it gets published by a respectable newspaper, with a reputation for responsible reporting, then I'll believe it.
Going by Corps rule, if it's in the paper it's 100% FACTO.

Ergo, lol@pompey joining the slide.

Fortunately He's hired Keith Harris of Seymour Pierce and Orville fame.

He's got no chance of selling the club now

I've always wondered about Harris' continued involvement in the search for football investment. Surely there's a massive conflict of interests as he's now publicly looking for buyers for Newcastle, Everton and Pompey. If he only finds one potential buyer, who does he recommend they go to? The one who pays him the biggest commission?

Luckily for the respective club's owners, commission is not something they're going to have to worry about.

Depends if the buyer wants an established mansion, serious expansion potential or a run down beach hut.

Not a bad price for the toilet cleaner. Might get some of that.

I wouldn't bother; it's an ecologically friendly one which means it doesn't work...

Damn the pound went up a bit today, so my 5 dirhams won't quite cover it now.

Pray tell me chaps - as I've been away soo long, does that 95mil debt figure include the loan note on their new stadium mortgage?

Still one thing in their favour, for the first time I suppose we could say that they are almost priceless
