No new contract offer for Puncheon?

The trouble with Punch is that when he's in the team he's all sweetness and light, but Adkins knows from experience that he doesnt react well to being left out. Although he's playing really well I could still see his position coming under threat if we stayed up, and perhaps the club know it would be better to let him move on as he does not have the attitude to become a squad player.

 

If the club have every intention of letting him go, surely they wouldn't be picking him regularly in the first team. Far better to be giving a spot to a player that has a future here. This topic is well worthy of debate - we need a "Puncheon Watch". He has been one of the top consistent performers for us this season, so I am amazed at some posters having a go at the OP for asking the question about a new contract. I thought that's what message boards were for?

Your handle sort of sums your post up. But just to clear things up I started this thread because I am genuinely intrigued that Puncheon's contract is nearly expired. How you deduce from that that I am attempting to damage the management team's reputation actually says more about you than it does me. And if you think I post thinly veiled agenda ridden tripe why do you bother to then contribute to it. Why don't you just ignore what i post. Serious question - or secretly can't you help youself?

 

TBF the OP does come across as a negative slant.

 

For all you know we are in negotiations with him now, or have said to him - look leys wait until x month then we will start talks. However it is assumed we have done nothing.

 

It could also be that JP has said he won't sign another contract at Saints. Nobody knows.

 

As Smirking Saint says, nobody would have offered him a new deal three months ago so lets see if he can keep this up a bit longer.

 

Perhaps even playing for a new deal is what has motivated him?

 

End of the day, the OP did come across as a thinly veiled jibe. Whether it was meant to be only you know, and Im not that bothered as can make up my own opinions on topics such as this.

 

However, I can understand the point SS made, you do have a consistency about yourself with that type of 'Faux ITK' post, which obviously other Forumers will pick up on.

I agree with the rest but English teams are not allowed to talk to english players, albeit officially (which means squat) until near the end of that contract, and thats within 3 months maybe less.

OK, think you are right, he can talk to foreign clubs from 1 January, but cannot talk to English Clubs until 1 month before his current contract expires.
