Is it me or am I feeling hard done by? But the officials have been awful! Like today why on earth was that goal disaloud? Even the commentators couldn't understand why, maybe i have my red and white glasses on but I've been to a few games this season and from what I've seen they have been terrible!

Goalkeepers are a protected species Federici slipped with no one near him, I just knew the ref would blow.

i think it's the inconsistency that is the biggest gripe Rickie gets battered nothing, other teams strikers suffer less of a battering but tumble like a delicate butterfly in a storm and the stupid refs fall for it.

We tackle from the side ref blows, we get takled from behind ref points to the ball.

That decision against Puncheon in the final few minutes was woeful.

What I don't get is Ramirez already has a "reputation" with refs: how the hell did he get that!! He has only been here 2 minutes and has 2 Bona fido penalties denied"...................... Is it because he is a fellow countryman of that slimey Toad Suarez?

Today's ref did make some errors in his decisions, but compared to the S*** officials in at least the last 3 home games he was a great improvement. I was confused for a while today-just not used to some decisions going our way (including some that were not really deserved - but heh we'll take whatever comes our way, after weeks of so much going against us)

The ref made some very strange decisions. The disallowed goal was one but the most staggering was Yoshida getting penalized for trying to head the ball when Roberts was just backing into him. If anything Yoshida should have gotten the freekick.

On the other side, Cork did clip Tabb and it should have been a penalty.

They have been terrible all season. Right from Howard Webb not awarding a pen at The Etihad. We dont seem to be getting the rub at all. Morgan gets taken out on the edge of the area & he waves play on. Roberts backs in to Yoshida - free kick. Even Adkins has started to comment about it!!

The most annoying thing about that as that Reading got a freekick just outside the box 10 seconds later. Ricky should have been lining up a freekick for 2-0, not Shorey for the equalizer...

Strange how they tended to go unnoticed in our 2 promotion seasons isn't it.

They weren't unnoticed by any means, we've had plenty of topics on awful refs in the previous two seasons as well. The thing is that they weren't as important in those seasons since we had the ability to make sure we won games in spite of awful reffing.

Watched the Villa vs Stoke and Arsenal vs WBA this morning and there were terrible decisions in that, some easy to pick out, others no so.

The refereeing in both those games was pathetic but at least in the Villa v Stoke game it didn't totally ruin the game like it did in Arsenal v WBA. Clarke rarely criticises officials so rather than the usual slap on the wrist, the PL will hopefully listen to him. Both referees ought to go for an eyetest though, Mertesacker has clearly punched the ball behind for a corner, the first penalty was harder to spot but the push by Ox before the second was very clear and no excuses for missing it.

Even better, why doesn't football get the 4th official using their time properly and have them as a video ref? It works well in Cricket and Rugby. They can commuinicate through an ear mike and alert the ref as to anything that has happened which could be a mistake to be clarified by technologu, including penalties. Also, what happened to the goalline technology pilot, is it being adopted?

That Shotton sending off for Stoke was laughable, neither yellow cards, neither fouls. Some really bizarre refereeing in these games. Saying that, I thought Moss did ok yesterday. There was some dodgy decisions but overall he did pretty well.

Wasn't there a foul just before the ball hit Mertesacker?

Refereeing is as bad as I've seen in 40+ years of going to football. What really annoys me is the cheating and referees falling for it time and again. The dive at Arsenal, where absolutely no contact led to a penalty, versus the one at Chelsea, where (I think it was Oscar) was clearly fouled in the area, yet because he didn't cheat and tried to stay on his feet, no penalty was given.

There does not have to be contact for it to be a foul. The wording of the law is 'trip or attempt to trip'. Having said that, you would normally only give a foul if the offended player had found it necessary to take evasive action from the swinging leg and thereby had lost possession, or maybe stumbled.

The ref's get a much different view to the rest of us that is why they rely on the linesman som much, many ref's say to the Linesman that offside is theirs alone (I used to) ya cant do that with Club Linesman but in the Prem I know that Ron Groves used to as did some others when they were in the lower leagues. I dont think any refs make mistakes on purpose or are crooked, we just need more views in the Prem and the 4th official with a video would be a good start.

Couldn't believe how unfit the ref looked today. He wasn't able to keep up with the play and was yards and yards behind on numerous occasions. He was shocking cos he couldn't see what was happening! Amazing that they let refs get away with that!

They're not. There are some very strict fitness tests that they have to pass.
