Sour Mash Posted 9 December, 2012 Posted 9 December, 2012 First half there was little atmosphere from both sets of fans. Oddly enough when we went 1-0 up we got louder and they got quieter (if that's possible). In relation to the number of fans that Reading had there, I can't think of a quieter away following at St Marys.
ericb Posted 9 December, 2012 Posted 9 December, 2012 Looks like they disagree with our thoughts http://hobnob.royals.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=116491 clearly they're not a massive group of plastics that support two teams and sit in silence. Also what saints fan would ever say they're one of the noisiest and most dedicated away supports!? That's just pure boll.ocks, 800 away at watford whilst chasing promotion is skates level of sh.it support.
Mr X Posted 9 December, 2012 Posted 9 December, 2012 I don't get the mentality in slagging of a club simply because they are struggling slightly more than us how does that help our plight the fact is we're both in a relegation battle along with potentially any team in the bottom half that could go on a poor run

They are ****ing ****e.
The Majestic Channon Posted 9 December, 2012 Posted 9 December, 2012 You say it with such conviction, the ball was well over the line. Pucheon was lucky the ball was out before he took their man out No The ball was nowhere near over the line, i saw the tv replay of that incident.
Appy Posted 9 December, 2012 Posted 9 December, 2012 No The ball was nowhere near over the line, i saw the tv replay of that incident. It was near the line, it just wasn't out.
Crazy Diamond Posted 9 December, 2012 Author Posted 9 December, 2012 I can think of worse support, and that was Crewe in 2005. You can't compare the two however, because Crewe's following must have barely been in double figures.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 9 December, 2012 Posted 9 December, 2012 Sure their fans were poor, however I have to say the Northam yesterday was a shadow of it's former self. Yes there was some singing, but it was not particularly loud, cohesive or particularly...well...innovative. Just saying.
St Chalet Posted 9 December, 2012 Posted 9 December, 2012 The ref and lineman were bad for both teams. They had a very good shout for a pen and the Lino flagged for the ball out when it was a foot in and Puncheon had taken their man out rugby style! You say it with such conviction, the ball was well over the line. Pucheon was lucky the ball was out before he took their man out i can only say what I saw, and was looking pretty much straight down the line from the Chapel, and yes I was convinced. No The ball was nowhere near over the line, i saw the tv replay of that incident. It was near the line, it just wasn't out.
Thedelldays Posted 9 December, 2012 Posted 9 December, 2012 they are going down...and very quickly dreadful team...tried to go for shaw as every goal kick went his way....no issue for him terrible football and they should be thankful we only scored 1...
Crazy Diamond Posted 9 December, 2012 Author Posted 9 December, 2012 'Best away atmosphere I've ever heard' - blimey, things must be really bad then!
Appy Posted 9 December, 2012 Posted 9 December, 2012 Their fans were ****e last year until they went 3-1 up.
St Chalet Posted 9 December, 2012 Posted 9 December, 2012 @Clint_Thompson: @stephens_SJ just realised why I'm so hoarse this morning... "BLUUUUUUEE ARRRRMY!!!" @ReadingFC
The Majestic Channon Posted 10 December, 2012 Posted 10 December, 2012 It was near the line, it just wasn't out. i know it was near the line, i said it was nowhere near OVER the line. the whole ball has to be over
The Kraken Posted 10 December, 2012 Posted 10 December, 2012 i know it was near the line, i said it was nowhere near OVER the line. the whole ball has to be over Have you got a link to this TV replay? I've not seen either MOTD's or any other replay but, at the time (and from the Chapel almost in line with it) it did look either out or pretty much close to it.
Thedelldays Posted 10 December, 2012 Posted 10 December, 2012 have not seem MOTD or anything but just watched the brief highlighs on the ESPN app on my phone.....did not realise they hit the post...
studentsaint Posted 10 December, 2012 Posted 10 December, 2012 Watching it on tv our fans didn't turn up until the goal. Atmosphere was tense but quite a few times I could hear reading fans in the distance but not majorly loud. Sang a lot for McDermott only took two minutes for championees, but all in all there was a nothing atmosphere in the ground for such a big game.
Saint Garrett Posted 10 December, 2012 Posted 10 December, 2012 Thought the atmosphere was pretty good all game, not amazing but ok. They just say in silence though.
pingwing Posted 10 December, 2012 Posted 10 December, 2012 Never seen a champ team in the premier league before. Not one of the players would have challenged for a place in our first team (and though that russian bloke was injured he still would be behind at least Lambert and probably Rodriguez for me). Pretty depressing looking at the player they bought and thought they could make a go of it. Plus they are by far the worst kick and rush team so far, cutting the ball out to Roberts seemed to destroy their game plan so badly Their fans had terrible chants (just like last year) which was just embarrassing. Shame everyone was as tense about the result as last year too, didn't really need to be.
Saint Charlie Posted 10 December, 2012 Posted 10 December, 2012 BBC reporting that Reading DoF Nicky Hammond is in Moscow with the owner Zingaravich looking at a couple of players. That wouldn't go down well at Saints...

Thedelldays Posted 10 December, 2012 Posted 10 December, 2012 after the dust has settled from saturday...nothing has changed that they are going to go down very quickly...no where near the quality and they dont have the momentum of that incredible run of form from last year...when they would get battered for many games and take around %75 of their chances to win 2-0
Turkish Posted 10 December, 2012 Posted 10 December, 2012 BBC reporting that Reading DoF Nicky Hammond is in Moscow with the owner Zingaravich looking at a couple of players. That wouldn't go down well at Saints... I have no problem with the Reading DOF looking at players with their chairman.
sussexsaint Posted 10 December, 2012 Posted 10 December, 2012 enjoy it more than writing or arithmetic

Sorry no, i watched the game live on tv here in sweden and they zoomed in and replayed the incident.
The Kraken Posted 10 December, 2012 Posted 10 December, 2012 Sorry no, i watched the game live on tv here in sweden and they zoomed in and replayed the incident. Fair enough. We did have a chuckle about it at the time and said how lucky he was; seems like he might have been even luckier.
Mr Saints Posted 10 December, 2012 Posted 10 December, 2012 Not one of their players is good enough for the Prem. They will finish bottom IMO.
Toomer Posted 10 December, 2012 Posted 10 December, 2012 No mark town, no mark club, no mark fans... Who only go to the Mad Stad because they can't get tickets for the so called big London clubs.
Patrick Bateman Posted 10 December, 2012 Posted 10 December, 2012 BBC reporting that Reading DoF Nicky Hammond is in Moscow with the owner Zingaravich looking at a couple of players. That wouldn't go down well at Saints... Why?? I think people need to move on, it was a match, we won, job done. Who sang the most is utter utter drivel - we are able to generate some brilliant atmospheres, but I've also experienced some rubbish ones too. Personally I also wanted us to win purely because that last match we played them really f**ked me off. QPR annoy me more than Reading and that's only because Twitchy has gone there.

If the club publically said Cortese was away on a scouting trip with Les Reed we would be in uproar. Doubt McDermott wants some Russian players - the Pog hasn't exactly worked out well. Doubt McDermott will be there for long.
