I know it's been said before, but he and the club deserves a lot of praise for turning around his career at us. Been a very important player to us this season. Playing well, working hard, and I think you can tell that it is very important for him that the team does well. He has talked the talk, and indeed walked the walk. Wonder if it was Cortese or Adkins or someone else who made him change his attitude.

Probably my player of the season at the moment.

Enjoyed his full page interview in the Sun today.

Obviously, he's had his troubles. But looks like the real deal just now. Thank God the club didn't listen to me or most others on this message board and get rid of him for tuppence or less.

I still think he's an argument away from a hissy fit, but reading the article in the Sun this morning about him, it definitely seems like he's matured, both on and off the pitch. His form is outstanding at present, and long may it continue.

JP was obviously instrumental in securing us 3 vital points today and I'm more than happy to join in with the praise this player is now receiving for his efforts this season. But I must say he still frustrates me at times because, for all his impressive approach play, his decision making and final ball can still be somewhat wayward at times. Methinks he's maybe 5% away from becoming not just a good Premier League player, but a very good one.

He's probably performing at his full potential right now, but if he ever does find that missing 5% from somewhere then we'll have some player on our books.

Fair play to the bloke. I was convinced that we should have sold him and thought of him as negative figure within our dressing room.

Hats off Punch, you have proved me wrong. Credit too for NA and The Don for getting everything sorted.

Jason has brought fire and excitement to the team. Together he shines in partnership with his mate Clyne and at any time during the match the two are never far apart, interplaying and exchanging moves. It's a sheer pleasure watching Jason weave in and out of opponents, using the fast reacting genius that is almost always one step ahead of play. Can't remember the last time we had someone who won us so many corners and is able find the back of the net. Love you Jason and what you've brought to the team, but also how you've risen above it all and won our hearts.

i WATCHED HIM CLOSELY TODAY......:)

When dribbling with the ball..it appears to be stuck to his boot:rolleyes:

Is he putting super glue on his toe caps?:p

A VERY GOOD FOOTBALLER.....at times pure class:D

Forgotten to mention.......He is better than some of the dross in the England squad;)

I've watched the MOTD highlights three times now. I hadn't noticed how two footed he has become. Not only did he score with his right, he had a couple of other chances with his right too. That attribute will give anyone marking him a headache. When I saw him in League One, he was very one dimensional in that he played on the right and his party piece was to cut in and shoot. Granted, he scored like that against QPR, but todays goal showed that's not his default move anymore.

In the games hes been amazing this season, he is having 4-5 good games before a bad one where as previous seasons it was 5-5 bad games one good, glad he has sorted his attitude out and for me i think him and Clynes partnership is key, Shaw and Lallana are having the same now and you can tell this when Gaston came on, our wide men work well and Gaston Punch Lallana Lambo work well and is key to us staying up.

MY FEAR is the following Punch being offered a deal by another club and or long term injures to him or Lallana, i really hope we sign as well as the defender another winger.

I am in the "Boy am I glad he's proved me wrong" camp!!

Last season I'd have happlily let him go, and even earlier this season I thought he was well off Prem pace, all too often going up blind alleys and losing possession way too easily,

but he has really come on in leaps and bounds and has been instrumental in our recent surge of good form.

His defensive duty's have been excellent recently and his link play with Clyne a major plus that has seen us looking much less vulnerable down the flanks now.

Also the club can cancel their "Puncheon smashing the behind The Goal Screens" insurance policy, saving the club loads of money that will be spent on his new contract instead

The way he has been playing in the last 6-8 games barring Liverpool to which I went and Jose Enrique had him in his pocket. Punch has been a class apart. He is like a more skillful wing version of Jermain Defoe. Small and quick but strong, two footed, hits shots hard and low, and also a bit unpredictable e.g. his goal against Reading with his right foot.

When he is on his game especially combined with Clyne bombing on and doing intricate one-twos and triangles with the CM's it is a joy to watch

If Puncheon stays fit I would rate him higher than Lallana at the moment and just hope Adam is not upset by the fact he is no longer the best flair player due to Gaston and Puncheon's resurrection.

JP seems physically much stronger this season. I don't recall really ever noticing that in his game until quite recently.

I don't see an improvement in that department at all. He's always had a great touch and upper body strength. He's upped his workrate, but for me the main difference is that he now has the confidence to really take his time and when he does he hasn't got fans on his back moaning at him for holding on to the the ball for too long.

I feel ITK for once. It hasn't been. Not even mentioned to Jason. Nada.

Interesting. If the season ended now he'd be my player of the season (Cork will get it if he continues as he is doing) and he's a vital player in the side especially as we have no right midfielder cover at all unless you count de Ridder.

I just hope that he signs a new contract ASAP so that it doesn't become a distraction come January.

Since it was clear he was part of the team for this season I was all for him getting a fair shot and I'm just delighted to see that he took it.

In retrospect you could also see, to a degree why he perhaps was dissatisfied in earlier seasons. He's got the quality to play in the PL but NA picked a 16-year old in League One (the correct decision but I can imagine a starting player being annoyed with that). He got to play in the PL for Blackpool then and when he came back he had to fight for a place in a Championship team when in his mind he should be playing in the PL. How he handled thing were unacceptable but the underlying reasons are still understandable.

I don't think we will offer him a new contract though. Granted he is one of our key players, however we've been trying to get rid for the last few years, I can see Cortese throwing a few million about for a fresh new right mid come the end of the season, so long as we look safe. 11 points of champions league remember. ;)

I can accept what you say. I just don't recall such a dramatic turnaround in a player I have ever watched. Given that we have come up two divisions at the same time, it is hard to credit it to some confidence and motivation.

he is a great player...good skils..great touch and passing and retains the ball very well....works very well with clyne and covers for him...

hope we sign him up on another contract...maybe he was challenged to earn it....

to buy him on this form would cost a small fortune....so like a new signing for us

he was badly misjudged by the majority of fans, failing to see what he can and can't do, what he is trying to do with the ball or how he could be effective. I still think even now many don't realise he's left footed or hasn't got pace. The lack of understanding or appreciation of the game dumbfounds me at times. He certainly has upped his work rate, although he always did try and often got stuck in. He's a proper team player, tracking runners and getting goal side.
