ALWAYS_SFC Posted 9 December, 2012 Share Posted 9 December, 2012 better than Bridger, but not as good as Bale? How much do you think he's worth seeing that he's English, left backs are hard to find and their is crazy money out there? At this moment it would be very hard to suggest a price imo.. His value can only go up and up as he gains experience. Better than Bridge at same age..yes Better than Bale, defensively yes but Bale is now an attacking left side player so hard to compare.. But one thing is for definate he will be a top player, lets hope he fulfills his potential at SMS
pingwing Posted 9 December, 2012 Share Posted 9 December, 2012 Good game, dominated and made them look a proper champ team. Ref had a nightmare giving free kicks to Roberts falling over on his own accord. Also no clear reason why Punch had his first chalked off. Very pleased that we looked a decent well organised side with clear aims, objectives and an attacking mentality that scared them completely. Can't believe there is a team below them still. At least we are getting it right where it counts against the teams at the bottom. Just need to beat Sunderland and we are looking to be in a great position for christmas and the new year. VectisSaint Posted 9 December, 2012 Share Posted 9 December, 2012 Too early yet to make that particular call. I don't think its too early to say he is a better defender than Bale. I would be surprised if he turns out to be anywhere near as good as Bale in his present playing position though. Bale was always a bit weak defensively, just fecking good going forward. If Bale wants to play defensively he has all the attributes to carry that off at walking pace.

They are the same size, so you can't rule it out that Shaw wont; be as strong as has pace and is 6 foot 1 at just 17. A few more years he will become naturally much stronger. Will agree though, Bale is a monster at the moment the way he powers past people, it's not juat how quick he is but its the power of his running that defenders can't handle, right up there with Ronaldo on that aspect of his game. Considering though there seem to be very few top quality elft backs about I think keeping Shaw as a left back is the best way forward. Ony saw a few highlights of the game on MOTD2 after being away all weekend, preusming Ramirez didn't start as he had been away all week? Any news on Lallanas injury? If we can get to January with 19/20 pts then I think we can be very optimistic considering our terrible start, a chance to add more players in january. Looks like Boruc isn't going to play again so I think a keeper might be number one priority now.

According to his wiki page he is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luke_Shaw I was in the Chapel and was quite surprised when Shaw got up after a sliding tackle to disposess jason Roberts; there really wasn't that much disparity in their size, and Roberts is a bit of a beast (and supposedly 6'2"). Shaw could get to be a bit of a unit if he fills out a bit.
Dangermouth Posted 10 December, 2012 Share Posted 10 December, 2012 He might well be taller. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luke_Shaw Just as easy to go and check before stating what you 'know', unless you do, perhaps?
Dig Dig Posted 10 December, 2012 Share Posted 10 December, 2012 Fair enough, saw a pic of him on twitter next to Clyne this morning and he doesn't look much taller and Clyne is 5'9. He looks quite stocky though in comparison to bale so maybe that's why it's deceptive. Wiki probably got his stats from the clubs player profile.....remember Chaplows profile said he was 8st not long ago so wouldn't take it as gospel!
