Window Cleaner Posted 13 December, 2012 Share Posted 13 December, 2012 Mate of mine spoke to AL in a boozer in Christchurch, he said he expects to be out for 2 months. Certainly better than season ending, but still a lot of games to miss. If he were to be back say for mid february he'd have missed about 8 league games. Still don't doubt we have good options to replace him temporarily.

Saint Garrett Posted 13 December, 2012 Share Posted 13 December, 2012 Fonte for captain. He's been fantastic last few months. Although it's not ideal losing Adam for a few months, there are quite a few games which are 'free hits' so to speak in that time. Hopefully he'll be back buzzing for the run in and our 'must win' games against teams around us.
Ashby Saint Posted 13 December, 2012 Share Posted 13 December, 2012 It's a planks game watched by plums. Give me soccerball any day over those commercialised American sports. LOL at you if you think our football isn't commercialised on a day when UEFA imposed a fine for racism less than the amount levied on a player for inappropriate sponsorship. At least NFL tries to get parity with a salary cap.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 13 December, 2012 Share Posted 13 December, 2012 I had a long chat with Lee Holmes today - doing ok at Preston - and he had a similar injury here with us in his first season. He said he was rushed back after a little over 3 months but it was too soon and the injury quicklyflared up to rule him out for the rest of the season. The Kraken Posted 13 December, 2012 Share Posted 13 December, 2012 Medial ligament tear apparently. 8-12weeks. Well that's us f*cked then. We literally have no-one else who can play (adequately) at LM. Ramirez was out of sorts there, Rodriguez does OK defensively but bugger all going forwards, Fox isn't the answer and neither is Guly. Mayuka on the right and Puncheon on the left? I think not, no. We are a bit f*cked.

The Kraken Posted 13 December, 2012 Share Posted 13 December, 2012 Not long till January though. Can't come soon enough. Whether Matt Phillips or whoever else we're looking at is good enough, we'll see. I remember all too well the struggles we had in the lower leagues when Lallana was unavailable. I can see it being a problem again. And it kind of shift our priorities somewhat, we now need to spend big in midfield as well as at the back and in goal. Smirking_Saint Posted 13 December, 2012 Share Posted 13 December, 2012 Itll be a shuffle round I expect, we probably will see Ramirez out there but maybe he will change things slightly, different formation ? It could be anyone TBH, Chambers has been getting good reviews, could be Davis, Guly ? J rod ? Until next saturday who knows ?

Not saying we should, he occupies that no 10 position perfectly, but we just dont have that much out there to cover for Adam, I am pretty stuck TBH. I know what your saying, but we have tried J Rod out there already, Fox is a rediculous suggestion, Guly I dont think is as bad as everyone thinks but still not good enough really, mayuka is not really a wide man. That leavrs Davis, a youth product or Ramirez but given the freedom to roam like Adam was.
The Kraken Posted 13 December, 2012 Share Posted 13 December, 2012 That's the problem. There really is no viable alternative. Given that I'd rather keep the rest of the team shape at its optimum and just make a change in one position. But it'll be JRod, for sure.

Saint Charlie Posted 14 December, 2012 Share Posted 14 December, 2012 Nothing to do with Seabourne. Just your usual load of b0llocks. Not Seaborne no. Just the idea of a defensive sweeper which is what Turkish referred to seaborne to do. You picked Fonte for it, which is certainly an improvement. Turkish was joking though, do you still genuinely think that formation would work in the Premier league with a midfield of Lallana and Ramirez? benjii Posted 14 December, 2012 Share Posted 14 December, 2012 Could go to more of a diamond, therefore removing the "left wing" dilemma altogether. This would involve Cork and Puncheon putting in a lot of work though to cover wide attacks and Rodriguez and Ramirez would also have to do a lot of pressing on the other team's defence (SRL certainly won't!). Personally, I think Puncheon is probably capable of playing that role and I actually think he's better centrally than Lallana as he has a better passing range and has a better shot: -------------------------GK------------------- Clyne-----------Fonte-----Yoshida---------Shaw ---------------------Spidermans--------------- --------------Cork----------Puncheon---------- ---------------------Ramirez------------------- --------------Rodriguez-----Lamberts-----------
Saint Garrett Posted 14 December, 2012 Share Posted 14 December, 2012 Think the last thing we need to be doing is introducing another formation. For instance Lambert and Ramirez sort of fluid on the left and J Rod and Punch on the right ? Still, IMHO I dont think Adkins will drastically change anything, itll be 4231 and I expect itll be the side that finished against Reading. svetigpung Posted 14 December, 2012 Share Posted 14 December, 2012 Yer lets change the whole set up around cause one guy gets knee-knack. Plebs. Just a simple swatch för Lallana with whoever fits the bill best. Unfortunately most of us dont know cause we aint seen any others play any significant amount of games. We have plenty of wide midfielders in the squad. Time for at least one of them to step up into the role. Theyr'e getting paid so its time to deliver. My choice..would love to see Mayuka if were feeling confident. Chappers if were going to be up against it. Nigels choice..probably Guly.

Red Posted 14 December, 2012 Share Posted 14 December, 2012 We really have short memories on here! Only a month ago, a lot of people (including myself) said AL was very poor so far this year (and he was), and that he should be dropped for a while to see if he could sort himself and his form out. Admittedly he has been playing really well of late, and will be missed and of course no one wants to lose any player through injury, however, on the performance of all bar the last month, not sure he will be quite the unmitigated disaster that some would like us to believe! Who knows, it might even give someone else a chance to prove themselves – TL?? Anyway, get well soon AL!
