For me its either:

"I love his bones" (said re Lallana)

or

"A player can also be under-aroused" (used in the pre match presser yesterday)

or

anything where he adds "about himself" or "about ourselves" at the end ie

"We have a consistency about ourselves"

Also post a good pic of NA if you want to - he has lots of different expression!

Haha - he says it all the time. When I was researching for my Jonno Quick thread I was drawn to this comment:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/9382981.stm

"He's got a good physical presence about himself and we're delighted that he can come and join us."

Nigel Adkins, Jan 2011 (he has a consistency about himself)

Posted

"Its a consistency that you aim for; I think if you remain consistent, and you've been successful with being consistent, then that consistency will get you through to remain being successful.

"we’re in the Premier League and it’s a first experience for a lot of people and maybe we’ve got to have a bit more confidence about ourselves and a bit more belief about ourselves. To not look at the name on someone’s shirt or the team sheet and just go out and do what we do"

He used "love the bones of him" about Lambert when he dropped him. Not being pedantic or anything.

I've used "to be the best that we can be" a few times when training people at work, almost without thinking

yeah he used it with Lallana ages ago - I think when he signed his new contract - then also with Lambert after West Ham. Bizarre saying.

Q What would you be doing if you were not a football manager

A Making love to my wife

LAD!

Think the question was "if not football, what would you most like to be doing on a Saturday afternoon?"

Posted (edited)

"Look, we want to play through the thirds of the pitch, get on the football and pass the football. Thats the vision set out by the football club."

On Alex Chamberlain, "We need to nuture young Alex. He has a young skeletal body and is still growing."

I like how he seems to refer to the club as "in the building"

or "on the bus".

Where has Sun Tzu Art of War , been for the last year ?

Another question from the same interview:

Q: What's the most famous name you've got on your phone?

A: Nokia.

Found myself using a few Adkinsisms last year when I had to write a piece of reflective writing for some uni work. Wrote it then when I read it back I noticed how many things I said that he would! Certainly runs off on you when you watch his interviews every week! Top man

He's a real inspiration our Nige, I have found myself using some of his Adkinisms in job interviews, this one being my favourite: "Its a consistency that you aim for; I think if you remain consistent, and you've been successful with being consistent, then that consistency will get you through to remain being successful."

If in doubt just think What Would Nigel Adkins Do? :o
