Saint Charlie Posted 7 December, 2012 Share Posted 7 December, 2012 I think it would be a good idea to recognise what Jonathan Forte did vs MK Dons on 2nd April 2011. Despite being less than two years ago, this two minute spell immensely helped us to reach the Prem, and whilst Jonno has largely been left behind, his contribution should be recognised. Now that he is back from loan at Crawley and therefore is likely to be at the game tomorrow, we should come up with a simple song or even use applause to mark his achivement. NA famously said the below when we signed him so maybe we could come up with a chant based around Jonno Quick? "He's lightning quick. When I talk about quick players I always say, 'Is he Jonno quick?" Ideas? "There's only one Jonno Quick"? "He's so quick, he Jonno Quick?" "Jonno Quick duh duh duh duh"? Saint Charlie Posted 7 December, 2012 Author Share Posted 7 December, 2012 there HAS to be 2 mins of applause.... Tha game highlights from Football league Show used to be on You Tube but i couldn't find them to add to the OP. Was a seriously big game that one - if we hadnt won we probably wouldnt have gone up IMO. Forte made a huge imapct from the bench in that one. Spudders Posted 7 December, 2012 Share Posted 7 December, 2012 Why would it be locked? Because it's one of your worst attempts at a wind up thread yet. I want to see you to return to the halcyon days when you were starting threads where we post pictures of a saints player and a forum member, that was probably THE best thread ever on this forum Unfortunately one of those Tokoyo Saints or whoever they are "hijacked" it and got it moved to the Muppet Show. Shame, it was a good laugh that one. Those kind of threads are once in a mongboard generation - glad you enjoyed it. Re Jonno - I was being serious, huge contribution he made in that game alone. More in one game than people like De Ridder made in a season last year.
The Kraken Posted 7 December, 2012 Share Posted 7 December, 2012 I just hope that Jonno Quick gets the chance that he deserves to prove himself in the Premier League. He was cruelly denied that when the transfer committee shipped him out to Crawley against Nigel Adkins' wishes. Since Nigel's meeting with Cortese where he laid it on the line that he'll only do things his way, we've seen something of an upturn in form although we had to wait for the final piece of the jigsaw to fall into place with the expiration of JQ's loan spell at Crawley (quite naturally the Crawley management didn't want such a supreme talent to leave early when still under loan contract so the wait for that to end has been somewhat excrutiating). I think Gaston Ramirez going back to Uruguay this week is no coincidence; he's now seen what the boy Quick can do in training and he clearly knows what's coming. I think we'll see Ramirez on the bench tomorrow with JQ occupying that number 10 spot, using his searing pace and ability to wreak utter havoc against the Biscuitmen. COYR. Forte isn't a Prem player - he was pretty poor in L1 and couldn't get a regular starting spot for Crawley. However - he did help us get up so lets recognise that for one game, then he will leave in Jan and we can rightly say he was overall one of the worst permanent signings we have ever made (apart from one half vs Mk Dons). Those tokyos characters are such d!cks! Ruining all the main board lols no wonder this place is going to dogs! We should have more of these, a lot of prem clubs is doing them it's embarrassing how we don't have enough minute applauses. We're still League 1 in that respect. Spudders Posted 7 December, 2012 Share Posted 7 December, 2012 Still trying to work out whether the initial post was serious, or heavily laced with sarcasm. Of course it was! Respect has to go to Saint Charlie for the fact it's still going and people are taking it seriously (unless of course it's all sarcasm). If MiltonRoader had started this he'd have got mocked for a few posts and then a mod would have locked it. chivvy1664 Posted 8 December, 2012 Share Posted 8 December, 2012 Just remember my young son crying at half time. He was inconsoliable. The johnno quick came on and got two . The look on my sons face at that moment i will never forget. Then barnard scored and went mental and so did he. Welling up now. Equal to tears of joy when Camaraaaaaaaaaaa scored against norwich in the prem. Brilliant stuff

Turkish Posted 9 December, 2012 Share Posted 9 December, 2012 Hopefully Jonno enjoyed that, thanks all who participated. I certainly did. For th next home game I think as we now have two Japs we should have a round of applause on 3rd and 19th minute for their shirt numbers and also on the 41st minute to show them we forgive them for Pearl Harbour, particularly as December is the month it was in. I think they will really appreciate it.
