SISU - It Could Have Been Us

Back in the day, swivel eyed forum legend SaintRichmond was absolutely incandescent in CAPITAL LETTER RAGE that the deal with SISU never went through and berated the shareholders for months for not going with them.

True story.

Oh yes I remember him. Capitals and morse code bullet style of posting as I recall.

Is he still here?

Saint_Robbie writes in an incredibly similar style both in how he writes and what he writes. Richmond managed a conversation with himself once as well which outed him as having more than one accounts.

Saint Robbie is pretty unique and I doubt he has any aliases. His posts tend to veer from misunderstanding to misunderstanding while believing he is right all along.

Funny that as we are on this thread, I think he was once sent to Coventry by the mods which effectively meant that he could post but nobody on the forum could read what he was posting.

Does anyone know what exactly SISU were up to? I mean, they haven't actually made any money out of Coventry have they? What was the plan? Was it all contingent on getting some sort of cushty stadium deal?

They should have bought West Ham!

Their plan was get to the Premier League, pick up the stadium/training ground with the PL money, sell a Premier League spot and infrastructure to someone who actually wanted a football club; Enjoy the profit.

They however didn't have the initial capital/staff/competence to get promotion, undermining the whole shebang. The Council at that point wouldn't sell the stadium to them as they (rightly) saw them as asset stripers causing the conflict of unsustainable rent and a fading football club, which saw the Ricoh Arena eventually being sold to Wasps RFC instead.

So, SISU have run out of money, there's no point in selling the football club as all it really is now is a membership of League 1 and some player registrations. They have no home, no infrastructure and no worth.

Cheers. So basically just "hope for the best" without actually having any plan to deliver value. A gamble essentially.

If they had some infrastructure to work with they may have had a chance. Initially they went to Man City, then it was us and Cov.

They ended up with the one of the three that didn't have anything of material worth and the income stream it could bring was utterly compromised.

All the above is correct , actually the shareholders voted against it at a meeting organised by two fans and the meeting room was paid for by them as well ......ironically held at the Runnymede hotel ....think it was the only time all the shareholders were in agreement and in the same room for about ten years !
