Saint Garrett Posted 5 December, 2012 Share Posted 5 December, 2012 Mayuka, Yoshida and Gazzaniga have all gone up by half a million from when we first actually signed them. Amazing how that happens. Heard it reported on MOTD a while back that Gaston was signed for £15million as well, rather than £12million. Why does this always seem to happen? People just love chucking an extra 0 on peoples transfer fees. The longer they go on without making much of an impact or failing the more they'll cost! It's just people's way of suiting their opinion!
pingwing Posted 5 December, 2012 Share Posted 5 December, 2012 funny you should say that torres comment pingwing rodriguez reminds me a bit of the nowadays torres , its the down on his confidence/scared look on his face and the way nothing ever seems to come off for him that gives me this feeling.if i see jrod coming off the bench or his name in the starting line up it doesnt exactly fill me with confidence. the other problem with jrod is he is blocking the far more impressive looking mayuka from getting games and sub appearences. this is a shame because i think mayuka can turn a game like he did at spurs i like the look of mayuka but if were not going to use him he too looks a waste Yeah that's what I was thinking, Rodriguez has turned up with such a weight of expectation and basically being thrown on as the super sub is making it a lot worse for him as he has to try and be the game changer. In his couple of prem starts he just doesn't look confident in the Lambert role (though quicker). Bit of a shame but it can be fixed. Mayuka is a mad one, flashes of looking like a real game changer for us but can only speculate something is going on in the training ground that is keeping him out the team. A real pain as he was the game changer (as was the chair that was thrown at the players for the first half) against Spurs.
Saint Garrett Posted 5 December, 2012 Share Posted 5 December, 2012 He's a completely different player to Lambert though. He's not going to go up for headers bring the ball down, billy defenders off the ball and lay it off to someone. He's a lot more effective playing with his face to goal an running at people. I actually think he's done pretty well in the few games he's played. He's probably finding it quite difficult coming here and not playing every week. New city, different part of the country, he's only 23 isn't he, it's no surprise. Patience needed IMO
pingwing Posted 6 December, 2012 Share Posted 6 December, 2012 Oh yeah patience is needed, but a bit of work on the mental side of things too from the club would do him the world of good. I also think he should be good winning balls that are in the air with a bit of a training. He has a good jump, just not put a lot of work into timing them yet. Same for having the confidence to take a step back and winning a ball in the air from the ground. It all comes from time, confidence and managing his expectations a bit better. At 23 there is no rush, but there probably shouldn't have been the rush to buy him this year unless there was a serious threat of him being snapped up soon to prevent future plans coming good. Rasiak-9- Posted 6 December, 2012 Share Posted 6 December, 2012 Do you think we have got completely ripped off with our players? Rodriguez = £7 Million Mayuka = £3.5 Million approx Yoshida = £3 Million Gazzaniga = £3 Million Could we of done better? Did Nigel sign them? What can we expect in January, more pearlers? Rodriguez was a ridiculous rip-off. Mayuka is a good player who doesn't fit the system, so a stupid buy for a club like us - genuinely think he's a good player though Yoshida was 2m and you get what you pay for, he's not great but then again he's not terrible. Has potential. Got good fight in him I guess. Gazza - ditto Yoshida. Potential, but not a first-teamer.

To be fair though, there aren't many teams around us who bought better are there, Carroll is a lump but that's about it on 80k a week, Jarvis is a handy player but I'd rather have Gaston for the same price. Maiga maybe but Mayuka was cheaper. Pogregnybk? Not for me. Mclearly? I saw him play a few times for Forest and he didnt do a lot until his last 6 months there. What's he done for reading so far? Rather than us being wholey ripped off maybe it's just the going rate?! The only player I can really think of is Collins at WHU but I don't think he'd suit us and be worse than Yoshi! Really didn't expect Jos to be that bad in the prem tbf!
