kwsaint Posted 4 December, 2012 Posted 4 December, 2012 Bit of a random question, but I read it in one of the Saints books recently. Why was the area under the scoreboard at the Dell called Docker's corner?
Badger Posted 4 December, 2012 Posted 4 December, 2012 Not aware that it was. 'Docker's corner' as I understood it, was the opposite corner, under the East Stand/Milton Rd corner. Their gathering there was probably due to the attraction of a bar there that remained open throughout the first half and into the second.
Badger Posted 4 December, 2012 Posted 4 December, 2012 No, it was called Shatner's Bassoon. What was ? Scoreboard corner ?
CB Fry Posted 4 December, 2012 Posted 4 December, 2012 No, it was called Shatner's Bassoon. You want to lay off the Cake, my son.
kpturner Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 I thought dockers corner was at the archers road end of the west stand - not a place for away fans to find themselves in.
buctootim Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 My Dad used to take me in the early 70s as part of works group of dockers and lads. We always used to stand behind the goal in the Milton underneath the chocolate boxes.

oldskoolsi Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 Are yo referring to the East Stand side of that corner? If so do you mean the little strip that had no seats even when the Dell became all seater? I always thought that was for programme sellers. The block next to it did have a kiosk behind (no beer though) but it was for Junior saints but I don't know when from.

Oddly, when I first started watching Saints in the early 70s I used to stand at the front of the East Stand, at the Milton end. So stood in Dockers corner without knowing. Cheers.
