Bit of a random question, but I read it in one of the Saints books recently. Why was the area under the scoreboard at the Dell called Docker's corner?

Not aware that it was.

'Docker's corner' as I understood it, was the opposite corner, under the East Stand/Milton Rd corner. Their gathering there was probably due to the attraction of a bar there that remained open throughout the first half and into the second.

My Dad used to take me in the early 70s as part of works group of dockers and lads. We always used to stand behind the goal in the Milton underneath the chocolate boxes.

Are yo referring to the East Stand side of that corner? If so do you mean the little strip that had no seats even when the Dell became all seater? I always thought that was for programme sellers. The block next to it did have a kiosk behind (no beer though) but it was for Junior saints but I don't know when from.

Thanks for that. Oddly, when I first started watching Saints in the early 70s I used to stand at the front of the East Stand, at the Milton end. So stood in Dockers corner without knowing. Cheers.
