why is it so boring...nearly every tie is so boring when drawn if you think this is

I would say, saints at home to the European Champions is a great draw...a chance to turn them over and they are hardly playing that well at the mo

Exactly. We aren't likely to play a weakened side but they are (especially if they are still in the CL, which is unlikely I know).

Plenty will turn up, they will fill their end, it'll be a laugh. Love the FA Cup.

Any team in your own league is a dull draw because we will be playing them twice this season anyway. Much prefer a team we haven't played before and a trip to a new ground.

If we charge around £30 a ticket for this I won't be going.

I was pretty sure it was in January, but I also cannot see it listed anywhere now.

To cut back on the amount of games we play, they should agree to double up this fixture, winner gets 3 points and next round of The Cup. A draw is not an option though so extra time and pens if needed!!

but having risen from league 1...there was a massive chance we would get a team we have "recently" played anyway

Agreed. However, I fully expect it to be at least £30 a ticket.

Classic response. We have just pulled the current European Champions and Cup holders and its "boring".

Proof, if it were needed that something has gone seriously wrong with football.

I wonder who will be managing them?

I wonder who will be managing us?

It is though a reflection on modern day football, I really don't know what would not be classed as boring by some on here. I guess if it is so boring the Club will not bother opening the ends or the Kingsland for the game, just use the Itchen.

your spoilt! league 1 to premiership in two seasons, we have played almost the whole football league at least twice in the last three years and you complain about having to play chelsea ?

Pretty sure this will be on tv, its almost a certainty that they show the holders 3rd round game each year.

Agree. West Ham v Mancs, will be a tv match as the media believe everyone wants to watch manU, Chel Town/Hereford v Everton for the romantics.

Saints v Chelsea = holders, possibility of an 'upset' for the mediadarlings, and most of all the prospect of more humiliation heaped on Benitez.

Great draw. Can't believe some of the reaction. Outside chance of a famous win and, if not, can focus on staying in the prem.

Again, if we lose so what ? No disgrace in losing to the European Champions, the league is more important. Rather go out this way than to a Stockport or Tranmere.

But no b0ll0cks, a good cup run is good for morale and I want another cup final.

Well we should be a bit fresher than Chelsea, we've got 5 games between now and the game, they have 7 plus a trip to Japan for the club world cup.

Hate to ruin your theory but they might have a larger squad of players who are actually up the premiership standard to draw from though.

I'd have liked a lower club away from home, never really liked getting clubs you already play in the league twice in the 3rd round of the F.A Cup. Plus I fully expect tickets to be overpriced, so doubt it will sell out.

me too....the most successful cup side from last season and people are not interested.:?

We will play them twice this season anyway. No doubt both sides will put out a second string of fringe players and youth anyway and both clubs we see it as an interfernce to their league ambitions this will transfer to the fans for a flat atmosphere at SMS....just can't get that excited about it.

I bet we don't put out a 2nd string side at all. Maybe 2 changes... 2nd string side at home to the European champions

Don't think so

They should call it the Reserve Team FA Cup. Our record in the cups of playing weakened sides completely devalues the interest. Unless it's cheap especially if it's on tv I think they will get a half full stadium. It's not worth paying for a devalued product.

£20 a ticket - will go.

£25 a ticket - might go

£30 + a ticket - armchair fan

Bill

I think a lot of Saints fan will call it this way

Unfortunately I can see £30+ being the ticket price although possibly tempered with a deal for kids

Chelsea will probably sell their allocation so this should push the crowd just above the 20,000 mark.

Sincerely hope I am wrong

A lot may depend on whether we are on a good run in the League.

Re distribution of gate money, isn't it split 3 ways between the two clubs and the FA?

We'll put out a full strength side I reckon, can't see us resting players for a game against Chelsea. Tickets will be over £30 without a doubt.
