Suarez deliberate handball

Got to admit, I didn't actually see it from the other end of the ground, so well done to the ref for spotting it. What I want to know is, how come that is only worth a yellow card?

I think I'm right in thinking if you delieberately hand ball to stop a goal being scored (i.e. on your own goal line), that gets you a straight red. The advantage you're trying to gain by cheating is effectively the same in both cases. I know rules are rules and all that and the ref has gone by the rule book, but seems a bit inconsistant.

If he had actually scored with his hand, would the punishment have been any different?

Years ago it was only yellow when you deliberately stoped the ball with your hands on your own goall line and they changed that so you dont gain a big advantage of taking it with your hand there and only get yellow and a penalty kick with the chance of that being saved.

As Suarez did in the world cup and even though he got the red they won because of it. So you could argue that they got the big advantage there anyway but you cant make a harder ounishment than the red and a penalty for that.....
