Leicestersaint Posted 2 December, 2012 Share Posted 2 December, 2012 If this is the PL then bring back the Championship!! We played far too deep and needed to bring on some pace. VectisSaint Posted 2 December, 2012 Share Posted 2 December, 2012 just back and id like to know whats happened to the saints side that played good attacking football at the start of the season. They have learned how to defend. Now all NA has to find is a formula that allows us to do both. Despite what Adkins says about us scoring goals it is not true, our goals have dried up, but then so have our goals against. Its a fine balance, and we are not the only ones who have made this change, Norwich for example, Hughton has turned them from a team that conceded lots to a team that are difficult to beat. stmusicdude Posted 2 December, 2012 Share Posted 2 December, 2012 Seeing as this was a game we were expected to lose, at a place where we ave never had much joy, 1-0 doesnt seem such a disaster. We havent done further damage to our GD, at least. But I have to say NAs substitution strategy bothers me. Its too late, and its not the substitutions I would intuitively choose for chasing a game. OMG a post of yours I agree with - seriously tho great post .. one of your best
Turkish Posted 2 December, 2012 Share Posted 2 December, 2012 Just seen the goal, very poor defending from Fonte, lost Agger totally and despite 3 men being round him no one made a challenge. Also did Gazzaniga hold anything? He seemed to spill every shot they had.

Charlie Wayman Posted 2 December, 2012 Share Posted 2 December, 2012 Well, we were never at the races at Anfield. The mid-field were universally knackered and ineffective so Liverpool controlled the midfield throughout and we never got the ball and never gave the front men a chance. OK, three games in a week but it's the same for everyone so are we special because we have very young players with less reserves of stamina or is that our guys just aren't fit enough? The back four seemed to hold it together quite well considering they had little cover from Cork & Schneiderlin and so subjected to a more or less constant onslaught. If unfitness is the problem then it's a big worry now that the colder, wetter weather is here with heavy going and growing concerns about results and whether or not we can haul ourselves out of the relegation zone. On the evidence of this match we deserve to be in the bottom half dozen. Overall we can't take any positives out of this one, we looked poor and the form of a couple of weeks ago seems to have deserted us.

No arseing about until the end of the window please. I don't think Boruc will play for us again, if he was going to replace Gazza it would have happened by now. Panic signing that NA didn't obviously want. Still don't think NA is out of the woods though so who knows.
Charlie Wayman Posted 2 December, 2012 Share Posted 2 December, 2012 we certainly need something more at the front, didn't see the first half but I thought Lambert gave their central defence a 45 minute vacation in the second half. We need to find a solution to his hit and miss play. Did you watch? Otherwise spouting rubbish.

Wilko Posted 2 December, 2012 Share Posted 2 December, 2012 My overwhelming feelling about the game is that the Liverpool stewards were a bunch of cocks. As for the football, I expected us to lose, and we did. How about that famous Anfield atmosphere? Wasn't it awesome? Spine-tingling stuff. They're such a passionate bunch. Mr X Posted 2 December, 2012 Share Posted 2 December, 2012 I have seen no evidence that gazza communicates with his defence or organises them are shape in defence was terrible yesterday Liverpool had all the space in the world. What has Adkins seen that we haven't to declare him such a good keeper?
redder freak Posted 2 December, 2012 Share Posted 2 December, 2012 Liverpool should have scored a lot more goals against us. They're not as bad as people are making out. They were firm favourites to win. They retained possession very well, particularly in the first half. Man for man, their players are better than ours. They were just unlucky today. I'm sure they can build on this win.

The only people that make them out to be bad are the helmets that don't understand football. They're still a massive club thst are in transition and still have some top players, maybe not world class but certainly Skertl, Renia, Gerrard, Suarez, Johnson and Agger would walk into most teams outside of the top 4. They also have some very good young players and a very good manager.

The Cat Posted 2 December, 2012 Share Posted 2 December, 2012 I watched a stream but had the kids so didn't pay full attention. I'm never glad to miss attending a game, but some of the comments on here about the atmosphere and stewards plus the rip off prices make me less bothered than I was at 3pm yesterday. CanadaSaint Posted 2 December, 2012 Share Posted 2 December, 2012 It's quite striking that Chris Hughton is so vocal on the line, constantly telling his key midfielders when to press and when to drop - and that they listen and respond. Yes, it's kind of annoying to hear but I often wonder whether Nigel needs to be more forceful with our lot during games, especially when we seem to be losing our way a bit. If it's not coming from the players themselves it has to come from somewhere.

obelisk Posted 2 December, 2012 Share Posted 2 December, 2012 Have just taken the time (at last) to watch MOTD. Looked to me like Agger's goal was offside. I know it doesn't matter now but has anyone else mentioned this?

The same players turned it around completely after Bruce was fired so they obviously weren't playing for him. They've been heading the same way with O'Neil but it looks like they had a rocket at half time, so then we see a different team. It all magnifies our challenge, doesn't it? captainchris Posted 2 December, 2012 Share Posted 2 December, 2012 (edited) I didn't see Spurs so cannot comment. Against Villa he looked full of running and enthusiasm, but his touch was woeful, Bambi on ice sort of thing, and he was only on the pitch for 15 minutes when we were 3-1 up. Not knocking him by any means, just saying we haven't really seen enough of him to make any judgements, and I don't understand why, can only assume that Adkins does not see much from him in training. Perhaps after today Adkins may think about making some changes, 5 games with unchanged side, and first defeat I can understand why he kept the same team. I think a couple of changes might freshen things up. Was really surprised when anyone could see against Norwich that were very tired looking that we didn't freshen the team up with some fresh legs or, at the very least made some early subs. There were tired minds and legs out there so it was really surprising that NA doesn't seem to notice both against Norwich and Liverpool it was quite obvious that we were falling off the pace. The thing is, it was a totally different scenario to Man U as we were not playing particularly well in the second half of these games and had little to lose by bring on fresh legs... The thing is, it was a totally different scenario to Man U as we were not playing particularly well in the second half of these games and had little to lose by bring on fresh legs... In his post match interview, Nigel admitted that he could possibly have brought on some fresh legs, namely Davis for Cork. But he didn't want to upset the balance of the game against us. It's a call he has to make. Obviously he decided to do it against Liverpool. As people are saying, I wonder why he doesn't play Mayuka. I suppose the pressure is on to play £6 million Rodriguez, who needs to grow in match confidence, and at the moment he can't afford to take Lambert off the pitch if he's fit. ringwood Posted 2 December, 2012 Share Posted 2 December, 2012 We just seemed tired and lacking a spark, the midfield didn't have the space due to Liverpool at home pushing up, thought we should of got in their face more and hussled them, they always seemed to have a spare man to pass too, whereas even at throw ins we seemed to stand like statues , not looking for the ball or attempting to make space. Gaston seemed to be trying too hard to so his skills, frustrating but he has to learn he can't dribble round the whole team!
