Liverpool Build Up Thread

Love reading their forums, most of their fans still think they are a footballing powerhouse and should be top 4. Truth is, while well supported the team isnt as strong as they thing as they have players like Henderson, Downing and Shelvey in their first 11 regularly.

The sad fact is, other fans do too. Ive already seen a couple of posts writing off this game and saying we should focus on the teams around us. Liverpool are in the bottom half FFS and misfiring with a new manager. They're ripe for having a go at.

stuff like that is rife in the media...

talksport the other morning...brazil was rambling on how villa will stay up..when asked why, he justified it because they are a big club and ex european champions

that was it

Saying they will stay up in 2013 because they won the European cup in 1981 is as ridiculous as saying that we can fill a 50000 stadium because chelsea only got 13,000 in 1984.

Comparing the spine of each team there isn't that much between them imo:

Reina just as liable to make mistake as any of our keepers. Both defences are weak. Gerrad no longer the great player he once was so Cork and Morgan will be match for him and Allen.

Lambert will give their defenders a hard time and Ramirez has class to make difference. Yes Suarez is top quality but if we can isolate him then we will stand a great chance in getting something from game.

Liverpool's Red and white kop forum is notoriously mental, there's a twitter account called RAWK_meltdown (or similar) that tweets the more loony posts on their such as "I genuinely think Downing could be as bigger player for us as Giggs has been to United over the next 5 seasons" and loads of their FA/ Fergie conspiracy theories.

I clocked onto it during the Suarez affair and have followed the Meltdown geezer since.

Need to wind him up maybe he will kick someone and get sent off.

Would have him in a heart beat, along btoh centrebacks, Reina and Gerrard. The rest of the team is a bit 'meh' some good players but the table doesn't lie, they are only four points better of than us.

The only teams they have beaten so far are Wigan, Reading and Norwich.

Mmmm.... I may be in a minority of one, but I reckon that he is ever so slightly better than Gazza, Kelv and Fatboy put together !!!

You have been ridiculed for this post but I think you are not far off tbf. there seems to be a perception on here that liverpool are streets ahead of us in terms of quality. they are a mid table team as proven by there 8th place finish last season and current position this season. they are undeniably still a massive club in terms of fan base and history but they have been in decline since finishing 2nd in 08/09 season.

I do actually think they will beat us but it will be a competitive game, probably just a single goal being the difference in it. we have 3-4 players that would almost certainly improve them being lambert, ramirez, lallana and even shaw. enrique is gash to the point even their version of Guly Do Prado (Downing) has played at leftback in front of him previously.

I suppose it really depends which team turns up. We were excellent against QPR/NU but not as good v NC. If we play like last Sunday we have a chance of getting something, otherwise?

Sitting right on the fence at 2-2. Its a goal with games.

Imho they will be expected to come at us at home and this should create the kind of space our front four love to work in. If morgan and cork have good games and we have no definsive/keeping calamities i'd even go so far as to modestly predict a 2-1 win ...

RL will be well up for smashing one in so I wouldn't be surprised to see him score from a set piece!

Am looking forward to be Going back to Anfield as Liverpool are my 2nd Best team after Saints as I love Going to Anfield

and will be Good to hear "You'll Never Walk Alone" being sung too and it ŵill also be my 3rd time there as the 2 times

I have seen us Lose 7-1 and 3-0/3-1 so Fingers Crossed it won't be the 3rd...!!!

As much as I want Saints to Win tomorrow I can see it be 3-1 Liverpool with Lambert/Lalanna/Ramirez for Saints

and Suarez, Gerrard and Skrtel/Johnson for Liverpool But We'l See...!!!

I would also Stick with the same team that played v Norwich and Hopefully the Referee will be On His Game too I Hope...!!!

Bring It On!!!

COYR!!! :D

Same team for tomorrow as you would expect.

Happy with that.

Only concern is that we looked a little tired and leggy during the second half on Wednesday - I hope the players have recovered suitably ahead of this one.

Fully trust Adkins and his judgement however. He's with the players day in, day out and will know best!
