andybeal Posted 29 November, 2012 Share Posted 29 November, 2012 May be a silly question, but are we sure Boruc is still at the club? Has anyone seen him in training clips etc? Listened to Adkins talking about the Liverpool match and keepers and mentioned Gazzaniga and Davis but no mention at all of Boruc - seemed strange to me? You can also see him in training videos and he was involved in a training session on the St Mary's pitch with De Ridder and other unused players after the Newcastle game on Sunday. I was hoping we would win on Wednesday, so Saturday's result would not have bothered me too much. But thanks to stubborn Norwich not playing ball, now I have to really hope for a unlikely surprise result. Clyne and Shaw would not look out of place in liverpool's team. Agger and Skrtel can be dodgy but on the whole pretty solid and better than our CB's. Gerrard was wasteful in possession against spurs but will most likely have a blinder tomorrow. Think Shelvey and Sahin will come in for henderson and downing. Joe Allen is seriously overated. i think our midfield of cork and morgan on top form will be a match for them. Suarez is a wonderful player and is carrying them big style. will be a major threat tomorrow and the one player to keep quiet. ProDirectSaints Posted 30 November, 2012 Share Posted 30 November, 2012 I'm going to be interested in how Shaw and Clyne deal with Sterling and Enrique. Enrique has looked very good recently IMO. Our fullbacks will have their hands full with these two, but at least they have the pace to deal with it (compared to Fox/Richardson). I'm worried about Fonte and Yoshida though, I don't think they are a very good matchup for Liverpool's attack. Fortunately our midfield woes seem to have improved with the return of the Cork/Morgan partnership, we will need them to win us the midfield. If we can keep some decent possession, I reckon our attacking 4 could cause Liverpool some problems. Plus Liverpool's fullbacks really like to push forward, if Puncheon/Lallana get the right ball they could try to exploit that. What I'm expecting: 3-1 Liverpool What I'm hoping for: 3-2 Saints

Barry Sanchez Posted 30 November, 2012 Share Posted 30 November, 2012 Well the first one yes, he is not as good as he has been but he is still and awful lot better than Gazzaniga. Junior Mullet Posted 30 November, 2012 Share Posted 30 November, 2012 Ooops, looks like you took my post for an invitation to play top trumps. I wasn't comparing like for like players: "We are currently better than Liverpool in some departments. We need to exploit them.". There will be battles over the pitch tomorrow and I think we will some of them. For example, I think our attacking UNIT will be a match for them. I think they are suscpetible to teams like us who can play good football and use craft and guile to create opportunities. I think Morgan and Cork have looked excellent together this season and will stand their own against the Liverpool midfield. Our entire back four will struggle against Suarez, who will exploit our weaknesses with his fantastic movement. Holes will be created for the likes of Sterling. They will look to exploit the inside left channel between Yoshi and Shaw. We will be a threat from corners and other set-pieces. Lambert, Lallana and Gaston are looking more and more dangerous in dead-ball situations. Both teams are incredibly fit. Liverpool have the ability to counter-attack quick. We will pile me forward in attacks tomorrow and NA needs to look at this.

Can't even say I'm confident because I can see none of the middle 3 changing so we'll be relying on Suarez again. Hopefully Wisdom is fit again, therefore pushing Downing out of the side otherwise expect them to double up on the right hand side time and again and while they're 3 off the bottom they haven't been struggling scoring. It says everything that we come to this game and I'm even contemplating anything other than an easy win, no confidence at all in our midfield." "They're playing some really good football from what i've seen, but we really should win." "Well i'm f**king terrified to be honest. They play some decent flowing attacking footy, and where we are at the moment, I'm losing confidence in our ability to change from the obviously predictable. If they sit back and counter, I fear we won't be able to break them down. I was believing we could be on the way up the table, but after the last two games, I think we are looking more like a mid table side that ever before. We play some decent stuff, but so do Norwich, Swansea, West Ham, Newcastle, and Fulham at times. And when your rivals ( traditionally) don't even bother to check on our results because we'er not seen as a threat to them anymore, that's worrying. I hope Lucas gets some minutes but don't expect much from him at the mo, other than that i wish for a clean sheet, pray for a win, and hope for nothing less than a draw. Totally dissilusioned at present, and don't see too much light while we keep playing Henderson and Downing together. We can't aford to carry two players, especially the way Gerrard is performing at the moment, so like to see the team before I predict. Chez Posted 30 November, 2012 Share Posted 30 November, 2012 It's going to be tough. They should have won at Spurs, which shows they are not as and a side as their league position indicates. On any given day Suarez can destroy you. Let's hope it's not tomorrow. The rest of their side is solid, but unspectacular. We'll need to play a damn sight better than we did against Everton if we are to get anything out of this game. Midfield wise they obviously have Gerrard, aside from that though are Sterling, Allen, Henderson, some random guy on the right wing? miles better than Morgan, Cork, Lallana, Puncheon? Probably not. Take Suarez away and the quality of their team severley drops. The likes of Reina and Gerrard aren't the players they used to be, and the rest are good but not great hence their league position. City, Utd, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Everton all have better squads than Liverpool and WBA are a better team so the talk of Liverpool challenging top 4 was kind silly. People are maybe overestimating them because it;s Liverpool but in reality they are at best a top 8 side, we will have a lot more tougher away trips than Anfield.
