Pedro Posted 28 November, 2012 Share Posted 28 November, 2012 Onslow Road is closed for 5 days for emergency sewer repairs, will cause chaos tonight for those coming in from Portswood/Thomas Lewis Way direction.
ant Posted 28 November, 2012 Share Posted 28 November, 2012 Thanks for the heads-up - work in Fair Oak so would have been coming back that way. I live around the corner from Onslow Road and even then didn't realise it was closed. There were temporary traffic lights on Monday and yesterday so I avoided it this morning. I guess that means The Avenue will be pretty bad too as everybody floods (ahem) that way instead.

Barry Sanchez Posted 28 November, 2012 Share Posted 28 November, 2012 Shall I do a Bazza's traffic update? The issue is it would bare no relevance as I do not live in Southampton and am not going to the game.
ant Posted 28 November, 2012 Share Posted 28 November, 2012 As expected, it was already a 'mare by the time I got to Thomas Lewis Way at 5.20pm. Would suggest avoiding it altogether and going via Swaythling/Bassett across to The Avenue, or leave Thomas Lewis Way early and cut across Portswood to The Avenue that way. If you haven't left already and fancy making K.O. I'd get going!

sandwichsaint Posted 29 November, 2012 Share Posted 29 November, 2012 Just in, took 47 minutes to get from Charlotte Place to the bottom of the M3 after the game. (Un)happy days.

The9 Posted 29 November, 2012 Share Posted 29 November, 2012 Strange, as I managed to get home to Hedge End via Portswood and Eastleigh by half 10 by parking near Varsity London Road, driving down the Avenue in the right lane, going into Lodge Road and Thomas Lewis Way (which was busy but moving) then under Swaythling Arch and past Fords. No traffic at all in Eastleigh or on the M27 after that. On the way in I took the M27 to J5 and then avoided Onslow Road by going up Burgess Road, past the Uni and through Highfield, getting to the Avenue at Westwood Rd where the queue was a whole 3 cars deep. No traffic problems at all if you just took the trouble to dodge about a bit, in fact it was clearer than usual.
