Turkish Posted 27 November, 2012 Share Posted 27 November, 2012 (edited) All a load of nonsense mush. It's all about having fit, strong quick players who get stuck in and get it forward quickly. Nige has realised that and with Corky and the french bloke started putting the boot in more and no fannying about with at the back and getting rid of it. Thats why we're wininng, not what this ponce is on about. Edited 27 November, 2012 by Turkish

Especially the subconcious influence he has on the mindset of the players. Get the impression that the club is all together as one. Whats that thing where if you say something enough times you genuinely start believing it. Like that thing with Guly and contracts.

Minsk Posted 27 November, 2012 Share Posted 27 November, 2012 Of course you need players of a good enough quality who are fit, strong and quick. It is also true that the correct mental attitude can enhance their abilities; just as saying someone can be psychologically damaged by consistently being told they are useless. I would certainly much rather have a manager like Adkins who always looks at the positives (as well as trying to eradicate mistakes being made) than someone like Saggy Chops who came in saying how crap the squad and players were (which he continued to repeat week after week). Anyone who cannot see this clearly lacks managerial abilities.
Tony F Posted 27 November, 2012 Share Posted 27 November, 2012 It is 100% about management, almost all of which is pretty muich another word for getting the best out of others. The claim is that Adkins does have a talent for it. So, providing his players do, ultimately, have the capability to play the level of football required to get results in this league, he will find that capability and bring it out. Even it takes a while (10 games in our case).
Wes Tender Posted 27 November, 2012 Share Posted 27 November, 2012 I wonder whether this guy realises that Nigel Adkins has qualifications in Sports Psychology? Whether he knows or not, he is certainly pretty impressed with how Adkins applies it.
