Will be out to try and wind the crowd up and unsettle our defence. He was a grade A **** in JPT Quarter Final.

Discuss how best to combat him.

Hope his good mate SRL helps us put one over him and Norwich.

Hoolihan makes them tick, or at least he did the last time we played them.

If he is the tricky fella in midfield then I agree, has played well in the 3 or 4 Norwich games I've seen this season.

It'll be lols if they swap shirts at the end. No-one will be able to tell who's who!

Lambert should try and sneak on the Norwich bus home. See how long it takes them to notice. Classic bantz!

Lambert > Holt

Ramirez > Hoolihan

Lallana > Surman

Puncheon > Pilkington

Rodriguez > Morison

It's in the bag.

(I wonder if this would be the Norwich fans answers too. I highly doubt it.)

Grant Holt is awful, has nothing on Lambo, however the team tick when he plays well and NCFC are a decent side maybe not indvuialy but as a team there work ethic is amazing and organisation is there, they will be hard to break down however if gaston puncheon lallana play like they have been were be ok.

Can't say I'd have any of the Norwich team in our side, maybe in the squad. Possibly Bassong but he was pretty woeful for Wolves last season. Oh, and Ruddy.

Ruddy

Turner

Garrido

Bassong

Ruddy

Turner

Garrido

Bassong

Ruddy - Yes

Bassong and Turner - debatable as after a poor start Fonte and Yoshida are starting to look solid now and forming a good understanding as a centre back pair

Garrido - over Luke Shaw? Really? I wouldn't.

Clyne would clearly get into their team at right back. As for Norwich's midfield and strikeforce, I'd have Saint's front six of Cork, Schneiderlin, Ramirez, Puncheon, Lallana and Lambert over theirs.

Norwich fans won't like it, but I'd probably only have Ruddy from their team in our starting XI.

Wasn't he the second highest English scorer in the PL last season behind Rooney? Hardly makes him awful in my book.

On the plus side I read somewhere that Rickie has outscored Holt in every season they've been in the same league....

With ruddy being out. We should no doubt beat them no problem if all our players are better

I'd have Ruddy and probably Bassong, who I didn't rate before the season as I thought he was poor at Wolves last year, but he is maybe showing why Spurs paid £8 million for him.

Garrido is a decent left back but I don;t think he's massively better than Shaw and Shaw has immense potential.

The thing with Norwich is they are a very good team, lots of togerthness, work really hard, organised and solid. They also play better football than most people give them credit for.

However they have only scored 4 away from home and don't have a win so we should beat them.

Wouldn't underestimate Holt, he'll bully our centre backs and Fonte hasn't been good in the past against big physical strikers, he seems to go all petty against them and loses his head.

Holt is a fine center forward but I think Rickie has more in his locker.

Comparing the teams man for man is to downplay Norwich's strength - namely their team ethos, work ethic and fighting spirit.

The Norwich team is greater than the sum of the individual parts.

I've got respect for them but I think we've got just enough to win.

Agreed teamwork and togetherness counts for a lot! comparing QPR with us man for man as their fans did didn't really work out for them did it!

How is Grant Holt awful?

Grant is less gifted than Ricky, but he's better in the air and without a doubt presents a tough challenge. I'd like to see Jos back in the side personally as Yoshida just doe snot cut it in the air for me. That said I don't really want us to change a settled side (and we won't). Norwich will be tough. They have some very good players. Pilkington, Hoolihan and Holt have all caused us problems in the past.

Gave Yoshi a torrid time though. If the woeful Clattenburg had given a free kick for his shoving and shirt pulling in the first instance it would have stopped it from happening all game. Holt is a lump, with half the footballing ability that Rickie has, but he is always going to cause problems because of his physical presence.

Posted

Boy did Holt look a lump last night. Mrs JBS reckons that the only comparison between him and Rickie is that Rickie is an Adonis versus Holt (it only took 2 buckets of icy water to bring her back into line!!).

:)

Lambert is a much better footballer than Holt.

Holt plays to his strengths very well though, although he was dreadful last night.

On topic, Holt was pathetic, there is a very good reason he's not going to get called up for England, he's stupidly one dimensional. Hopefully last night ended the lazy comparison of Lambert and Holt once and for all.

I thought Pilkington played well last night, so i would add him as a player I'd take from Norwich.

Off topic I thought Pilkington was gash. Fell over a lot and crossed like I do on fifa, lots going out for goal kicks. Second half he improved by trying to dribble a bit but that didn't do much different and only looked ok when we stood off him from the half way line to about 4 yards from the box. After that he offered very very little.

Was sung at Carroll Vs WHU as well earlier in the season, he was also shocking and caused our defence problems !

He caused Jos a lot of problems in that Jos couldn't deal with not challenging him in the air when he was going to fall like a sack of **** at every jump. Wish Jos was better and could have just not jumped once or twice to show up Carrolls terrible diving.

I thought Holt's movement was good. He never stops working and moving in stark contrast to Ricky who stands pretty still. Holt is not gifted, but his touch is OK and he is heavily involved in the little give an goes with Hoolihan. He certainly puts a shift in and is a great focal point for their attacks. I prefer Ricky, but there are elemnts of Holt's game I wish Ricky had like his desire to get in the box and his movement.

you seem desperate to blame Jos for Carroll cheating.

Not quite, I just felt Jos was trying the same thing time and time again and being drawn on the same foul over and over.

A few mins of varying it up and showing Carroll being poor on the floor could have really changed the flow of the game as they were targeting Jos for drawing fouls generally.
