have to say..what a brilliant performance...the whole team gets 10/10..hit the woodwork 3 times and a goal that should have stood....

MoM if any..

Puncheon then Ramirez

what a brilliant game and near on total domination against a decent team.....

gazza looked wobbly then made up for it

defence looked really solid

cork and morgan doing the graft in the middle

lallana should be well ahead of many players for the england squad

Lambert was fairly quiet but still hit the post and had a hand in the 1st goal

Ramirez was superb

but puncheon yet again had a stormer...we need to sign him up

Honestly thought we might go the season without keeping a clean sheet, so really pleased about that. Clyne looks a great player. Rodriguez wasn't offside! Should have at least been 4-0. If Ramirez and Punch keep this up I think we might just scrape it.

That save from the header by Gazzanigga were world class. I must admit after sayong that I would prefer Boruc that he is starting to earn his place now.

Decision makings are getting better and better and he was really secure in his handling today despite the rain. (Yeah he had one in the first half but I think Sjaw put him in a difficult spot there)

Team is geling for every week, good stuff!

Mid table here we come!!! That was much better than I expected to see from us before the season began. Put that against the earlier games, and we look good for mid table this year with something to build on for next season. We won't be going down if we can keep this up for more than a few of the rest of our games.

Amazing :-D Very happy! Some of that play was Barcelona-esque ;-) That bit in the second half where we went all the way down the side line nearest the dug out with about 6 passes and had a shot looked great. Rodriguez goal looked pretty onside to me and that the Gazzinga save will not have done his confidence any trouble! Shame some idiots booed Jos as he came on I am actually pleased to see him get some minutes as hes a top bloke and we're bound to need him at some point this year. I do however wonder what Mayuka has to do to get a sub appearance at the moment!? Some of the through balls we were playing only he had a chance at getting!

Two very good goals, one harshly disallowed (looked onside to me - just) and hit the woodwork 3 times.

Defended very well as a team - none of the howlers that have cost us so far this season and a clean sheet - at last!

Very happy this evening!

Yes there were - we just had the luck on side for a change (Gazza kick out in first half - almost identical to Swansea).

Anyway - Just how good was that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were just fab!

2 bloody nil! could have been more, hitting the woodwork three times and a dubiously disallowed goal! finally a clean sheet and look at how much it meant to yoshi and gazza at the end of the game! they were celebrating like they won a cup! very pleasing to say for sure that the defense and perhaps the whole team looks so settled! let's keep the run going and get as far away from the bottom 3 as we can!

Excellent performance, the defence looked delighted at the end so congrats to them. Really feel for Jay Rod that his goal was disallowed, a great finish from him. We deserved a few more goals.

MOTM - Fonte just pips Lallana and Ramirez.

massive win.

Got to say, I really didn't see 6 points in the last 2 games. Big well done to everyone.

Biggest difference? The defence, we have (nearly) stopped ****ing around with it. If in doubt get it out!

Clean sheet HUGE. Gazza made one hash up but one world class save. I don't even think we played as well offensively in the middle or upfront as we can and we pretty much destroyed them

They were totally **** mind, no confidence or energy at all.

The officiating was appalling mainly in Newcastles favour. Great goal by JRod...

As comfortable a home win as you will see. Big game wednesday, delighted for Nigel who is proving me wrong at this moment in time but a LONG way to go.

Whilst it was probably the perfect time to play Newcastle what with 3 of their best players out, and off form as a whole, we absolutely killed them. Quality performance. Us going forward is great to watch and teams can't handle us.

Everything I wanted us to do today happened. Win, clean sheet, Gazza played really well.

Very happy.

Excellent performance. For fans of Football Manager, the tagline would be this:- "An easy win for Southampton in a match they dominated".

The tippy-tappy stuff clicked brilliantly today; looked like a tool instead of a gimmick. Two nil does not reflect the chasm between the two sides. No nervous moments at all, and after the torrid start we've had to the season, that performance is already one of my best moments as a Saints fan.

We all knew Lallana could play; didn't know he could tackle. I'm starting to think that everything I thought I knew about Lallana is just the tip of the iceberg. Immense the last two games. Puncheon has been superb too. Hindsight is amusing, isn't it? Not so long ago, we were talking about whether he should ever play for Saints again. Now I wonder whether he isn't a cocky get for a reason. Seriously impressive work by everyone today. Sure, another potential heart in mouth moment for Gazzaniga, but I seem to remember another young goalkeeper making quite a lot of clangers last year for a much bigger team. Besides, his save helped get that first clean sheet. Don't want to single individuals out too much because it was a genuinely excellent team performance, reflected in the solidity of the team and the manner of our goals.

Superb performance; Saints most assured since the return to the Premier League.
