Horton Heath Saint Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 They always said Peter Shilton was worth at least 10 points or more gained through the season with his goalkeeping. This is our weekest position in the team now, as the manager well knows, he brings in Gazza, then Boruc, why him? overweight, not good, his bottle throwing episode was a disgrace, I watched it, then clapped his hands at halftime towards the supporters. Please leave the club. Back to Gazza, very wobbly. Kelv? Need new goalie asap But who.......? Your thoughts please. Could make the difference in staying up or going down.
Dr Who? Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 We have had some great keepers down the years, that have really kept us in the top flight.
mitch01 Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 Still think Boruc is our best keeper. Had an dodgy start at West Ham but it is mad to write him off after that. He was excellent in Serie A for the last two seasons and has the potential to be one of the top 10 keepers in the league IMO. Gazza looks a great prospect though, and I'm happy to see him keep his spot if Nige feels thats the right decision. I love Kelvin, but he is not a Premiership keeper. His reach isn't good enough for starters; the Middlesbrough free kick last season and Podolski's this year show that.
Mowgli Posted 23 November, 2012 Posted 23 November, 2012 So actually we've got 3 pretty decent keepers.

His handling, positioning and decision-making are poor. He needs to step up a bit.
Turkish Posted 23 November, 2012 Posted 23 November, 2012 Boruc is a quality keeper and you'll be singing his name by April. If it doesn't happen then I am not the Messi of printer consumable telesales.
ottery st mary Posted 23 November, 2012 Posted 23 November, 2012 Boruc now fully fit and to play Sunday....IMO
ringwood Posted 23 November, 2012 Posted 23 November, 2012 Well theres Rob Green bench warming at QPR, now he can't be happy with that situation so come January maybe worth a punt?
LatvianTolix Posted 23 November, 2012 Posted 23 November, 2012 Well theres Rob Green bench warming at QPR, now he can't be happy with that situation so come January maybe worth a punt? High wage damds. Plus QPR would not accept to loan their player to main rival for avoiding relegation.
Restark19 Posted 23 November, 2012 Posted 23 November, 2012 Well theres Rob Green bench warming at QPR, now he can't be happy with that situation so come January maybe worth a punt? Boruc and Gazza both better than Green imo
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 23 November, 2012 Posted 23 November, 2012 Paul Robinson? http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/fulham-linked-with-paul-robinson-who-1451696 Always rated him myself. I'm not writing off Gazza (who I do believe is a good prospect) or Boruc, might not be a bad shout?
Miltonroader07 Posted 23 November, 2012 Posted 23 November, 2012 Kelvin Davis, remember him the past two seasons FFS
tajjuk Posted 23 November, 2012 Posted 23 November, 2012 Paul Robinson? http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/fulham-linked-with-paul-robinson-who-1451696 Always rated him myself. I'm not writing off Gazza (who I do believe is a good prospect) or Boruc, might not be a bad shout? Wouldn't be adverse to Robbo, not fully recovered from his England wobbles but was pretty reliable last season for Blackburn despite them being shocking, however if Friedel is available on loan we should be right at the front of the queue.
Wade Garrett Posted 23 November, 2012 Posted 23 November, 2012 If Spurs want to let Friedel go we should snap him up. He's got another decent season and a half left in him and is quality.
The Cat Posted 23 November, 2012 Posted 23 November, 2012 We don't need another keeper. Just have whoever is on the bench warmaing up near the goal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=c-46iJiqY7w#!
buctootim Posted 23 November, 2012 Posted 23 November, 2012 The QPR game brought home to me just how deficient we are with current goalkeepers. The worst team in the division has the current Brazil keeper, we have a 20 yr old from Lg2.
St Chalet Posted 23 November, 2012 Posted 23 November, 2012 So actually we've got 3 pretty decent keepers. Shame we can't play them all at the same time.
Zlavik Posted 23 November, 2012 Posted 23 November, 2012 I'll just say the same thing as I said in another thread. Boruc hasn't made any misstakes and is a quality keeper. Gazza has made misstakes and is not ready, you could see this very clearly against QPR and Swansea. For more information http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?41378-Who-s-going-to-start-in-goal-on-sunday&p=1536476#post1536476 .
VectisSaint Posted 23 November, 2012 Posted 23 November, 2012 The worst team in the division has the current Brazil keeper, we have a 20 yr old from Lg2. Who is far more porky than Boruc by the way. Our keeper situation is fine, Boruc is a good keeper, Gazza is a decent backup, and KD is a decent backup for a backup.

Boruc looked unsure of himself for two of the goals at West Ham, the first in particular, where he started to advance then backpedddle for the frrekick to bounce past him. He looks overweight, out of sorts, and clearly 'living off' his reputation and former glories at Celtic at the moment. Gazzaniga at the moment shades it for me.
Huffton Posted 24 November, 2012 Posted 24 November, 2012 Frazer Forster. Worth a hefty bid for in Jan.
Bucks Saint Posted 24 November, 2012 Posted 24 November, 2012 Kelvin Davis, remember him the past two seasons FFS Eh? So why did we let Hammond go then? Or Connolly? Chaplow a rare sub? Hoovield not playing? We don't dominate any more. The opposition is a lot better. End of
B Rabbit Posted 24 November, 2012 Posted 24 November, 2012 Boruc is the best goal keeper at this club by a mile. He has played at international level, champions league and was the number 1 for Fiorentina the last 2 seasons. ...and yet because he threw a bottle at a couple of mouthy moron supporters and has conceeded goals with the worst bloody defence in the world infront of him...people seem to think he's not good enough for us!

Avenue Saint Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 For all those advocating Gazza being dropped, the boy played a blinder. Calm, assured and WORLD class reflex saves. Quality.
Saints boy in Leeds Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 I'll watch MOTD again with pleasure tonight and see how we got on, Gazzaniga looked good against Everton IMO even though we lost.
S-Clarke Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 He's a young lad, he will make bad calls, but it's hard not to see the obvious quality he has in there. Very talented, but still raw. Not worth chopping and changing him, he needs to learn and grow. We didn't pay £2.5m for a bench GK.
